'No return' TLOU2 gameplay (Dina, Lev, Tommy, Bloater boss and Joel)

Just wanted to let you know these posts are embarassing to read for anyone who actually played the game, and especially those who played at Grounded.

You can customize every aspect of the enemies AI..
You can make the hardest to play against if you want.

Thank you lol. Drives me nuts when people see clips of easy mode gameplay and think it's another bog standard TPS. When you crank up the difficulty it fills a niche that just isn't out there. As someone who has beat the game on grounded and fucked around with different encounters for hours, the enemy AI is no joke.

Shitting on TLOU2's plot, character development, Cuckmann and pandering might be legit, but not on its gameplay. The set pieces are ridiculously good. You can tackle them in many many was. A lot of the times, when I finished the skirmish, I found a vantage point, or doorway I didn't spot before. I could engage them in a completely different way.

I felt like an absolute predator, picking off enemies from bushes, laying traps in the route dogs would walk. Picking off the alerted guards. Lure the final few into a building and bumrush them. Plus you can tailor the AI completely to your liking (making enemies completely blind when you are prone, etc), and you can set the loot drops to Normal, and the combat to Hard mode if you want tougher fights but no shortages on ammo. The customization is rather underrated.

Realistic gameplay?

One of the twitter gifs showed ellie jumping from the top of a ledge like superman and gang attacking enemies. Then did a backwards slide with a backpack on like it's Vanquish.
Hence the air quotes.

It's obvious what I meant.

That first line is spot on.
I shit on this game all the damn time but I would feel like biggest hypocrite to not praise certain aspects of it.

My Grounded 100 hours run gave me some of the most unforgettable moments in gaming ever.

Makes sense.

All I know is when people bring up LOU as super gritty and realistic, I disagree. And that obviously excludes all the sci-fi creatures. Of course that stuff isnt realistic.

But gameplay wise, it's got the blood, some decent cat calling and voice overs. But gameplay wise is as Rambo and kill everything like a COD gamer as can be. it's like playing one of those Splinter Cell games on 360 (I forget if it was Conviction or Blacklist). You start the demo and are immediately greeted with some tough dudes guarding. Kill one and the guy 15 ft away doesn't even notice. Keep ducking and crouching and pick off the idiot enemies one by one.

Nah.. as far as "realistic" gameplay, there's nothing close. Unfortunately.
You're reinforcing my point.

It has incredible animation that gives it a visceral weight no other game achieves. But the actual gameplay is super simple. Hide, peek, shoot, press triangle to trigger animation.

I suppose it depends what you want from a video game. Again, for immersion, it's at the top of the pile. But there are hundreds of games I'd sooner *play* over Last of Us.

Looking at the visuals, I don't really see the need for this remaster. It's basically only for QoL things like loading times.
They could have sold the extra game modes as DLC for the PS4 version.

Game of the Generation gets even more generational. I'll be there day one on Friday for the PS5 victory lap with my 10 dollar upgrade 👍

I got tlou2 digital for $20 like a year ago, I still havent played it...now Im gonna get the digital upgrade...and I doubt im gonna play it.

I have a problem.

how to spot someone who have not played tlou2.
Dude. The first game plays like clunky shit in comparison. tlou2 is the smoothest 3rd person game out there probably.
I love that you're so sure you end your comment with "probably" 🤣 TLOU2 is an excellent game so next time don't say probably.

When I played it on base ps4, I wanted a better framerate so much. Now that the remaster is hitting ps5, fingers crossed for the pc version soon

Here we go again. This is basically just DLC, it has a cheap upgrade path for owners of the game. Why do people see the word 'remastered' and all of a sudden think the sole purpose is visual upgrade treatment for profit. They made DLC and gave it a proper PS5 version with PS5 features. Now both games sit on PS5 along with the show, it doesn't look good sitting in PS4 land with Part 1 being PS5. Ghost of Tsushima basically did this and because they called it a 'Director's Cut' no one batted an eyelid and that upgrade path was more expensive if I'm not mistaken.
