Even though most of this stuff is known to me, it's pretty shocking.

Of course taking in that amount of money will make you more likely of depression or getting murdered. Though I'd love to tell my parents that I've won (if I did), I know that it would be something that they wouldn't be able to contain if I told them to.

I would get the money and leave the U.S if possible. Cut off ties to most "friends" I don't bother talking to now, and leave my parents with a livable amount of money to give to the rest of my family.

Money turns people into fucking beasts. I can only imagine how some of my parent's friends would act if they found out they won.

I think I made it to about 500 years in that Powerball simulator and never got a $10k payout. But I'm feeling like Saturday will be my lucky day.

Really all I would want would be the million dollar payout. While having more money than I'd know what to do with over several lifetimes would be awesome and could lead to some really insane purchases and possible adventures (space?), it would probably end with me either killed over not just handing money out to a "long lost relative" or put some kind of barrier between me and my friends for pretty much the same reason.

Edit: I'm also glad I live in a state that lets me remain anonymous in the case that I do win a large sum of money. Fuck letting anyone other than the ones I choose know. Fuck that entirely.

This makes me sad and angry because something similar happened to my grandfather before he died 4 years ago. Numerous stories of nieces other family members asking to money to pay rent, mortgage, bills, etc only to end up suing him when he stopped because they were using the money to buy new TVs, purses, vacations, drugs, etc.

If I were to ever win, first thing I would do is retain an attorney and prepare to move out of the country.

But what I would really do, would be pay off my student loans and throw it in the bank and start a business.

That's what I've heard. Have your law firm send someone as a representative. I wonder if there would be enough time to legally change your name before collecting...especially if you have a unique name. I'd collect unshaven, no shower, colored hair,colored contacts, and wearing sweats.

I'm thinking I'd just wear something to hide my face and claim I go by my middle name and mispronounce my last name.

They say I need to take off the mask, I tell them it's a religious belief and threaten to sue because I got the money.

I got $4 back of the ten I spent. Gonna let it ride.

I've never bought a lottery ticket, kinda don't want to start now, but out of curiosity I went to the Illinois lottery website and fuck it's even more random than I thought.

So after I win, besides telling no one what are the next steps? I'm assuming:

1) put the ticket in a safety deposit box
2) hire a large firm attorney
3) hire an estate planner/someone to set up trusts if allowed to claim the prize that way (or does the attorney do that?)
4) Accountant
5) Hookers and Blow

Why are people saying they'll just give a sum of their money to their parents and then disappear. You know people will just target your family then.

Why they make lotto winners names known is beyond me.


If I ever won, I would follow all the advice of that reddit post, then take my immediate family and disappear for a while. I'm paranoid enough that I would try to get my name changed as well. I don't give a fuck about my distant family.
