quick rundown on what they said about these?

How surprising.

I wonder what PSM's reaction was when RE4 came to PS2. They bitched about it leaving the most of any magazine.

hmm, what did they say about Castlevania? I was hoping it would be better than LoI, but the score doesn't seem to indicate that.

I guess IGA really does need to stick with 2D.

Wow who would have though. PSM calling it the better version .. Hmm...

That's a lot of fucking reviews. I don't envy the journalists during this time of year. And thumbs up to the SotC getting 9.5.

Castlevania 3D sidescroller for the win!
That would be absolutely brilliant. This is the perfect direction for the series.

No surprise on the RE 4 score. Come on, it's fucking RE 4. Can't wait.

Well, not that I've been super enthusiastic about Curse of Darkness... but it just boggles me why they continue making 3D titles that repeatedly score less than the 2D titles on handheld devices (not a dig against handhelds). But oh well. My only real problem with Lament of Innocence were the repetitive stages, so if they fixed that, then I'm sure I'll like Cuse of Darkness considerably more. But still, I can't help but shake how great a 2D Castlevania would be using the PS2's technology... Symphony of the Night is considered one of the best, if not the best installment... you'd think Iga would get a clue.

OMG! We already know that Resident Evil 4 is good! OMG!

SSX4 has got to be 30fps, at least on PS2. Would hardly think that constitutes a 6.5 score, but I've only played a wee little bit. Mostly good music selection too(Glam Rock!) minus a few holdovers from Burnout 4.

SotC 9.5 from PSM of all places! From people who don`t quite seem to enjoy unusual games.

Nice score, but I wonder if people are afraid to give SotC a 10. Of course, I haven't played it yet, but if ICO's any indication, it's not a 9.5 game. It's either a 7 or a 10. You can't just feel a 9.5 for this kind of game.

Funny mentioned a 7 caused that is what I think they gave ICO. Anyway SOTC and RE4 for the win!!! Wait isn't Soul Calibur 3 this month also?! October is one badass month for PS2!!

Some graphical chugging (Looks like there still is some slowdown. Don't know if PSM review build is difference from the final build though) and camera issues kept the game from a 10.

Jak X Racing - 7

Disappointment total, no CTR revival :(

Agreed, I had high hopes for this, although I heard the beta wasn't too hot (didn't play it personally). I'm still thinking about picking it up in the 2 for 1 at TRU though, we'll see.

I got the PSP version, and it's pretty damn good. It's 30FPS, but seems to be rock solid 30FPS, and on a smaller screen it's not that much of a problem.

The only problem with PSP version that I can think of is that it doesn't have that nice music muting when you get big air :\

PSP
Virtua Tennis - 9

Damn, I was really looking forward to Blitz, the trailers on Gamespot were great.
Turtles in Time should be worth more than a 5 by itself, Mutant Nightmare must really suck.

Virtua Tennis = next PSP purchase.

PSM on the RE4 PS2 version compared to the GC version:

"Capcom has begged the press not to compare the PS2 port of RE4 to it's GameCube predecessor during previews, concerned that it wouldn't be considered on it's own merits. But now that the final version is here, we have to wonder what all the fuss was all about: the PS2 version looks stunning, 98% identical to the GC build, it has extra levels, extra weapons, extra costumes, and full widescreen and progressive scan support. So, on it's own -- or anybody else's -- merits, this version kicks the GC build right into the Las Plagas. What's not to love?"
