Silent Hill f Review Embargo Broken - Dualshockers 9.5/10 (Review summary inside)

Seems like this game has actual good in game reading materials and with actual NG+ content. (unlike the half ass ng+ in SH2 remake)

Ill be getting this day 1 based on the summary alone.

I have too little time as it is to play all the games I want and when I do have it, I'm quite often too tired. So I also don't like this "replay the game to see the true ending" crap.

Apart from that, I'm looking forward to it.

As fan of NieR/Drakengard and Armored Core I actually I liked that a lot.

I always liked replaying games I enjoy and new story in NG+ gives me new reason to do so.
Yeah i know many people love having reasons to replay a game immediately after finishing it.

I just hope the real finale is something more like sh2 different endings where there is not really a canon one so they are all acceptible endings (even if some are straight up better than others) and not an actual REAL canon finale.

Anyone knows when Embargo lifts? I just spent 180€ on Yotei & Battlefield and need to know if this is worth another 90€ or 80€.

Very well, gotta wait a bit more, not pre ordering this one yet (Unreal Engine).
If the UE performance is indeed the main concern for you, rest assured. DF claim that this is probably one of the best games in terms of performance made with UE5:

Small environments and natural enhancements on UE5 over time.

-----------

- DF saw base PS5 and PC version
- Base PS5 version's game-play was "smooth" 60 and cut-scenes locked to 30.

- DF noted minor issues with PC version but noted in the settings that it was running at native 4K.
- John changed settings to DLSS Quality and said he saw no issues with performance afterward.

- DF noted no stutter, hitching etc during their time
- Noted some Software Lumen for indirect lighting and SSR for reflections (console)
- The wording isn't clear but John sounds like he noted Lumen reflections only on the PC version (he didn't mention it for PS5)

- Seems like they're shipping a very solid UE5 game without any of the usual UE5 caveats

- The rest is their impressions on the game itself.

Never liked to be forced to play new game plus or some shit to have the real finale.

I'm probably gonna play cronos before this one and wait for a lower price.

It's gonna be hard to surpass sh2 remake.

In principle, I dont like it either, but it depends on how it's justified by the game lore and what changes in the next playthroughs.

I'm just a bit concerned about the heavy focus on combat, the only thing I didnt enjoy in SH2 remake.

I Went with PC over PS5 this time. Happy to hear there's no usual UE5 stutter. 1080p with DLAA will still look better than the shitty method on my Pro.

Great to hear, but for games like Silent Hill I'll wait to come out before making my decision. I'll watch a few trusted reviews of my own and if it feels good I'll grab it. If not, then I'll grab it on a sale as I don't generally miss out on SH games. There is Tormented Souls 2 for those who want that og SH feel.

Is the early unlock Monday night or Tuesday night?

Just got the call from my indie shop. The game is in my hands tomorrow. Heading around there after work to pick it up... it's happening bois.

There's a place near me that sells games but it's mainly a retro and D&D tournament hangout place . . . I've thought about asking if they'll break street dates for me.

It's worth asking nicely and even offering a slight tip on top of retail - Mine said no for a while but I made myself a regular and just flat out offered to pay a bit mor to get games as soon as they get them.

They tried to play it off at first and said they didn't get games until a day before release (literally I laughed out loud as I saw the owners son in the back playing Resident Evil 2 remake almost a week early.. LOL) at that point he just yielded.

Were good friends by now, mind.

I'd probably only be interested in doing it for Sony first party games. The 3rd party ones I get cheaper on steam key sites to share with my Steam family.
