November 2015 NPD (U.S. Hardware) Predictions - Closes December 8th

Still think ps4 will be well in front. The pre-orders for September and October coming into play will give it to Sony.

Still 300k over xbone I think for November.

I may increase my wiiu numbers though, seems it's selling well.

^^Starting to think PS4 will be in front.
Way too much humble pie from our dear Mr Greenberg for Xbox to be safely in the lead.

My first thought exactly. He's like my brother that talks all kinds of shit and then is super friendly when he knows he lost.

Nah, it's definitely only the Uncharted bundles with that kind of momentum, at least for our stores... I didn't ask the other guy about the battlefront ones, but for us, those face the same problems as the more expensive XB1 bundles on this weekend. Price consciousness is at an all time high on BF weekend.

And they sent us a lot of the Uncharted bundles in the week leading up to this point, so they stocked us nicely for the weekend.
I said it so many times already. Thanks Abdiel for the insight. Sony is learning from their mistakes and trying to rectify them immediately. When inventory dried up last black Friday, parents refused to go home empty handed. Those missed sales turned into sales for the Xbox one. This isn't the only reason because, as many have stated, XB1 deals last year were insane. Sony made sure they had a massive amount of inventory. When target sold out of XB1s, some off those turned into PS4 purchases.

The tweet he replied to actually said according to that person's sources, the XB1 is not ahead of the PS4 for Black Friday. Granted he never specified the source and he's not reliable, but I'm just saying.

That guys twitter says he is the destroyer of xbots. Sounds fairly reliable.

It's doing fine. The PS4 is over the Xbox 360 and it'll be comfortably be over it at the end of the year.

Using your data I tried to make a quick and dirty graph to compare YTD figures for both consoles. But it turned out off and I couldn't figure it how to go about fixing it in excel :-/

But, the YTD totals for both 360 and PS4 were 360 @ 2589k and PS4 @ 2618k through October. This should give everyone a better picture. Not only PS4 ahead YTD but it stands to increase that gap significantly this month.

I know dude. That dude seems to be that timdog guys rival
Oh, we found Timdog's rival? Cool. I thought no one could match his delusions.

It doesn't necessarily mean PS4 won, it could be that MS isn't sure they won.
I don't think those who said PS4 won are entirely serious. In any case, I would wait until Tuesday for PR to see who won. If there isn't PR from neither saying they won, we can be sure both were close.

He challenged timdog to a debate lol. That would be gold

Seems like the price on the UC bundle has gone back up to $349 online. Weird. I thought Sony said it was $299 through Cyber Monday. Am I wrong? I could've sworn they said that.

Noticed that earlier and they did say that.

Either retailers ran through their allocated stock of $299 bundles or they are trading the price today to push sales into tomorrow for cyber Monday headlines.

Or every online retailer had the same glitch and accidentally raised the price too soon.

Well at least we know the price is definitely going back up.

Still 299 $ on Gamestop .com , strange.

If it's more than just Amazon, then I imagine they ran out of the $299 stock reserved for BF, and are (probably) going to have it back at $299 tomorrow for Cyber Monday.

PS4 won November confirmed.

Seems unusually gracious post if he thought Xbox won so... yeah that does imply to me PS4 edged Xbox and this is preparing way for a "we both won really and gamers are the big winners" PR angle.

Or he's just being gracious for real which is actually possible too.

Xbox One Black Friday. ;)

Is that really all you're going to contribute?

(sigh)

At least speculate with some reasoning based on considerations, or post actual predictions, or something. There's a retail musings thread for Black Friday specifically, and there's the Best Buy Infoscout thread which had a bunch of direct commentary from us employees.

I've seen you type up massive commentary before, so I know you're capable, so at least do something productive towards the thread if you have some perspective on it.

Uhhh are you going to provide any data or evidence as proof or are you just gonna post this as some sort of "if I wish it hard enough it will be true" post? You can't post a statement like this in a sales thread with 0 evidence or explanation.

Well, I was kind of in a rush and just wanted to drop something into the thread, so I made a prediction that was laced with a pretty obvious pun. My prediction is that I think the Xbox One won Black Friday. I've never seen such a mad dash for Xbox Ones as I've seen over the last week associated with Black Friday, and I don't believe it was even this crazy when the thing first launched. Everybody I know that was looking to secure gifts - and I do mean everybody - was looking to get their hands on an Xbox One in some form or another. And they all mention having similar experiences with people they know personally and up at work.

It was just as crazy up where I work. I'd be very surprised if the PS4 won with what I witnessed over the last week, so hence my prediction that the Xbox One won on Black Friday, beating out PS4.

Tomb Raider helped Microsoft have a good Black Friday here in the UK. A stronger showing than last year, I'm confident to say. However PS4 has been selling consistently well the entire month. I'm looking forward to opening the weekly top sellers list on Monday.

Hey any idea why you guys, Amazon and Target raised their pice prematurely? Both Gamestop and Walmart still have it at the lower price.

Interesting anecdotes, and from my own commentary on our district performance (and just my own home store), both systems did really well, though I didn't see anything to give MS any edge this year for BF. We saw a lot of momentum on both systems for their price parity options, those $299 bundles did really well here, though anything higher than that was pretty stagnant.

If my own reply was exasperated, it was more that I knew you're capable of this kind of commentary/post, and I didn't want it to just become a caricature thing, heh.
