i started watching TNA during the john cena reign or terror. i jsut got bac into watching wrestling and by the summer i was tired of his stick. Led me to following ROH and TNA more.

2001 migth have been the peak for wwe. with maybe 2011 being a clsoe second. they jsut drop the ball too many times and refuse to push anyone other than cena.

Smackdown was good during the edge stuff
I'm always amazed when someone tells me that they restarted watching wrestling over the past decade. Why? You were free! You were gone. Couldn't you have read a book or played a game during those hours? Now, you're back here with us in the proverbial basement of society.

I thought RR 2000 was great. . . . . . .

Even with my love for 2000 it's hard to defend the RR 2000, speaking of the rumble itself that is. It lacked star power, granted 1999 was actually even weaker but I guess the Austin/McMahon angle was enough for it.
The biggest stars in the 2000 RR were Rock, Show, Kane and...Jericho? X-Pac? well damn this is a tough sell.
Though dick punching isn't anything I remember much of.
Now the 2001 RR, that was fantastic and was really the product of 2000.

But it was surely better than this years jobber rumble of barrel scraping.

whythough. i still love it. i just fall out of it when the product wasn't hot or i was moving on in life. I was out for a long time out but like a lot of people CM Punk got me back in. there are so many great alternatives now to wwe i feel i dont need them to be good anymore.

KUSHIDA vs Mascara Dorada might be the best match I've seen all year. You've got Dorada who's been given so many chances, and is one of the biggest things in Mexico. Hell, probably the biggest breakout Luchador star since Mistico, and KUSHIDA who's also a young lion who's been trying to prove himself forever who gets so many chances but never a 'big' one.

I wasn't a huge KUSHIDA fan, but I love him after that match and Time Splitters(which is better than Machine Guns, imo)
Mascara Dorada was going to take Avernos mask, but him being in japan so long cost him that shot. Also, La sombra and Volador are still more over than Dorada, but he's closing the gap. fantasticamania will be all about dorada. 2013 will be the year of the gold mask!

2000 RR was good due to the crowd, the energy, and they actually used it to get lesser guys over. Most rumbles are terrible, but that one was fun, so I enjoyed it.

2001 RR is easily the best ever, though.

Were you looking for marking out moments? I thought the undercard was interesting for the feuds that they had going at the time.

Edit: I was thinking about 2001.... Well we did get Foley vs triple H. Although the next month....

The PPV was great. Taz's WWE debut, the tag team tables match, and Cactus vs HHH were awesome and made up for the shitty rumble, terrible bikini contest, and continuation of the Jericho/Chyna feud, but with Bobcore Holly involved.

1992 is still the best to me. The match itself, at least. As for PPV as a whole, 2001 is pretty amazing. But 2002 had The Rock vs Jericho and Flair vs McMahon. I feel like the Rumble itself hasn't meant shit since 2002.

What do you mean? You have a problem with me quitting WWE in 1999 and then I started watching again last year?

Man, DB looks like he's going to burst out laughing at any second. Even during the beat down, it looked like he was almost corpsing, lol.

From the wrestling Observer:

As recently as last week, WWE creative was forwarding storylines with the idea that CM Punk will be featured in the closing match of WrestleMania 29
Does this mean he will be in a 3 way at Wrestlemania or will he be facing the Rock at Wrestlemania without Cena?

If they do that then he loses at Survivor Series and then it seems like he will face Mick Foley at TLC and then enters the Rumble and wins it to face the rock.

I could totally see them having Punk walk out of Rumble with the belt.

Last year around this time Sheamus had moments (feud if you wanna call it that) with Jinder Mahal. Two months later, he wins the Royal Rumble and is immediately inserted into the World title picture. Hopefully whoever wins this year (don't bore me by having Punk-Cener-Rock win it) is having some momentum nearing the event. It won't be Ziggler since he already has the MitB briefcase, so I'm hoping somebody like Wade Barrett or Daniel Bryan.

Cody Rhodes basically looked like he has a concussion who just got punched by Kane. Match could of been alot better if Cody didn't hurt himself.

edit: When did Striker get a porn mustache.

It's pretty crazy to think that the reign of Sheamus only happened because Vince was trying to stick it to the fans for knowing Jericho was going to win the Rumble.

Jericho was planned to win the Rumble, everyone knew it, so they changed it to Sheamus last minute. I don't think Sheamus was planned to be in the title hunt until the Summer time. In fact, I have a feeling they didn't have any plans for what they were going to do with the WHC or D-Bryne.

Every wrestler interview in the last year has mad eit clear that they come up with most stuff 10 minutes before the show goes on. Bryan even recently stated that the wrestlers usually have no idea what's going on until right before the show, or even during it.

I'm 100% convinced that AJ being named GM was just some crap they pulled during the show.

Ziggler has until July to cash in. He could do it at Wrestlemania after the WHC match or better yet...after EXTREME RULEZ

I was free for a really long time too. Then a buddy of mine took me to an ROH show and lent me some DVDs. Then we went to a Dragon Gate show. Then I followed Bryan Danielson in his jump to the WWE. And hey, this CM Punk is pretty cool. What? Bret Hart is coming back and he's going to fight Vince? Everything else is pretty boring, but these three things seem pretty cool!

I watch, listen to, and read about wrestling more than ever now. I treat the indies, TNA, and WWE fairly equally, but WWE and TNA are by far the most frustrating since I've been back, but I tune in for the stuff I actually care about.

If El Generico makes it to the WWE and is allowed to keep his gimmick...man. Stuff could get legendary.

For the most part, wrestling in the big leagues is honestly pretty poor and ridiculous these days. Sadly, now that I'm back in I still feel compelled to keep up to date with all the garbage and glory that goes on.

The thing that gets me is that it's always just one or two things that makes people watch. One character or segment. In a show that's now three hours long, and it's only about 10 minutes worth of stuff that people find watchable.

According to an ex writer they planned Sheamus to win RR from August/ September.

To be honest, they have done some stuff well and have been building some guys up. Reasons I'll actually tune into Raw:

Daniel Bryan
CM Punk
Antonio Cesaro
Prime Time Players

...And lately, Sin Cara and Rey have been really solid. I was pumped for the Rhodes Scholars, but they've been totally wasted so far.

Makes no sense considering they had him with no real story or feud going in. So it was as random as can be. That's why if somebody like Bryan or Barrett do in fact win, they're setup rightfully heading in. He did win his TLC match, an impromptu against Jack Swagger. Bravo, I guess.

Theres always bright spots in WWE even if you have to dig through crap to find it. Currently its CM Punk, Bryan, the tag division and NXT what a great show. Other bright spots were MITB 2011, ECW ONS, ECW ONS 2 and for me CM Punk 2006 - 2011 (except i hated watching him lose every feud he was in)

I donno. I just know after Mania this writer came out and said that wwe made the decision the day of for Bryan to win MTIB and then in December, they had to find Bryan at an airport and bring him in to cash in, then he name dropped who they had in the books to win Rumble. He also mentioned Jericho came in to put over CM Punk.
It was on wrestling inc. I try and look for it.

Bullshit! It was someone's dinner for the night! No one claimed it afterward, but it was a perfectly good Jumbo-Jack that Summerlyn shoved into Evan Gelistico's mouth!

It was about 9:00PM when that occurred. Which means that Jumbo Jack was at least four hours old.

I don't know what dumpsters you dive in for you to consider a four hour-old, unrefrigerated denizen of Jack in the Box's Value Menu to be "Perfectly good," but neither I nor my refined palate care to go there. [removes monocle] Good day, sir! I said, good day, sir!

(Now if it were a delicious Pub Burger, I could understand your outrage.)

You also forgot to mention that after stopping Summerlyn's assault, Gelistico proceeded to "kick the burger" -- he punted a Breakfast Jack straight into the crowd in the balcony.

Lol. I didn't see that.

Fun show.[/QUOTE]

Yes indeed.

You're complaining about people watching wrestling in the wrestling thread. Just seems pointless to me.
I'm not talking about wrestling. I'm talking about WWE. I'm also not complaining, just having an introspective discussion about the product.

Stop trying to start petty shit. We're actually having a real discussion in here for once, lol.

I came back because I heard the Rock was coming back, and he was always my favorite. Then I watched on and off after that Wrestlemania, until I happened to catch the start of Punk's shenanigans while Truth was still feuding with Cena, then came the promo to end all promos and I was hooked.
