In general, New Japan's production is excellent - that show, however, is the annual Wrestle Kingdom event held in the Tokyo Dome, and is the only show of it's size each year, so they pull out all the stops. For their big monthly PPVs they usually run smaller venues like Tokyo's Sumo Hall;

Shelton makes rare appearances (although he is tagging with MVP in the World Tag League next month), but MVP has been a semi-regular for New Japan pretty much since he left WWE. Has had some good matches too;
