That guy with the Tie Fighter pilot helmet did a very nice job on the helmet. Does the 501st make their own stuff or do they get donations and then pool it together for the costumes?

That's me.

Most of us buy the parts from people we know or through other sources. Everyone in the 501st pays for their own stuff. The helmet came from Ebay and is a modified Don Post helmet that still needs A LOT of work before Comic Con. It came OK, but I need to fix a lot of the internal stuff and glew/paint a crack on the right side of the helmet. I also have to get ABS armor chest piece and new chest box along with better gloves and boots.

It's down near Otay Mesa in San Diego. So close to the border that you can smell Mexico.

Well I won't have the ABS armor before con, but I'll have the helmet fixed up.
