Now we've hit December, which system had the best library in 2015?

There's this rule about GAF first replies always being correct.

Some of my favourite games of the year were exclusive to it:

Pillars of Eternity
Shadowrun: Hong Kong
The Age of Decadence
Cities: Skylines
Contradiction
Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

(Note that I won't attempt a full listing of all good PC exclusives released in 2015, that would be silly :p)

It also had some of the very best "exclusives" of other platforms, like the excellent Ori and the Blind Forest and Rocket League. And of course, the best version of the vast majority of multiplatform games.

You can pick literally any console other than the Wii U and mount a reasonable argument, in my opinion. Just looking at Metacritic, you see 98 "good" or better PS4 games, 64 Xbone games, and over a 100 PC games. That's a tremendous amount of fantastic games. The Wii U has fucking 20, just 3 more than the Vita which has been abandoned by Sony and is considered by many to be a dead system. Game quality will always be somewhat subjective but I'd say every home console, albeit one, put out a great bunch of titles this year. Just a fantastic year to be a gamer all around despite all the industry nonsense publishers keep trying to foist on us.

In before quality > quantity, lol metacritic/you can't put a score on fun, Nintendo ships real games/polished games/misc. bullshit

I can't remember a year I played my Wii U as little as I did this year. Maybe 2012? For all its GAF impunity, I found Splatoon a shallow bore.

I'm excited for Xenoblade, but that seems like the only other game that actually had a full development cycle that was released on Wii U this year. Sorry Yoshi and Kirb.

Tomb Raider was a letdown for me on the One. Why can't Lara dual-wield pistols yet?

Disgaea 5 was excellent on the PS4. It was a joy to relive the Uncharteds.

Multi-platform-wise, I loved Arkham Knight despite it being a Troy Baker one-man show; I loved Fallout 4; I loved Metal Gear Solid 5; I loved Ori and the Blind Forest.

Really I'd say any platform but Nintendo wins this year. Such an obvious "sorry, we're devoting all our resources to the next generation" year that Nintendo pulls at the end of its consoles' lifecycles. It's nice that the NX will launch strongly, though.

PC easily. Each console had exclusives that I loved playing (or wanted to play), but I could count them on one hand.

Off the top of my head
Pillars of Eternity,
Total War Attila,
Shadowrun Hong Kong,
Undertale,
Anno 2050,
Cities Skylines,
STASIS
Satellite Reign,
Grey Goo,
Act of Aggression,
Age of Decadence,
rFactor 2,
Starcraft 2,
Homeworld HD,
Pathologic HD,
Dreamfall Chapters,
Rebel Galaxy
Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

And access to a bunch of in-development stuff like Dirt Rally, Killing Floor 2, Besiege, Star Citizen, Grim Dawn, Darkest Dungeon, Ashes of the Singularity, Underrail that may or may not expand to other platforms.

I really like my Wii U and other consoles, but so much of the software I was interested in was on PC this year, non-stop around the year coverage as opposed to seasnal 'pushes' like the consoles had.

I did a very basic layout of 75+ metacritic games of 2015 and this is what it looks like:

2015 pc: 121 games
2015 ps4: 99 games
2015 xbo: 64 games
2015 wiiu: 20 games

If you leave out all the remakes and multiplatforms and take into account only new and exclusive content at a certain quality level then it would seem that pc has pretty big edge here, since ps4 being the 2nd one has a large amount of last years pc games or remasters etc that don't really create unique value in the sense that a new title does.

How many of those games rival Splatoon and Xenoblade X in terms of quality though? Personally I think only Bloodborne and Ori and the Blind Forest.

That's a bit too subjective, considering how many genres there are. In my experience many games do. Pillars of Eternity, Cities Skylines, The Witcher 3, Forza 6, Undertale etc. I don't think too highly for Splatoon either, for what it's worth.

Yeah for sure it's all just opinion, nothing definitive.

Halo5
World of Tanks
Smite
Ori
Rare Replay
Forza6
Killer Instinct Season 2

Xbox easily. For me, the fact that Metal Gear V went multiplat made owning a PS4 irrelevant.

Tie between the Xbox one and wii u. If I had to choose between the two I would go with wii u. Splatoon and Mario maker are incredible. With xenoblade coming out this Friday and Devils third the following week, the wii u will be having a lot of my time. Don't sleep on Devils third. Don't let the mediocre single player keep you from experiencing some of the best third person multiplayer of the year. Look up some videos and judge yourself.

For me it's PC followed by WiiU . PS4 I've played Bloodborne only, looking / hoping for a better exclusive lineup in the future on the platform, some jrpgs will do the trick i guess

Am I allowed to say PC?

Just got my gaming PC this year and it's been the best period of gaming ever.

Some personal highlights -

GTA V
Witcher 3
Pillars of Eternity
Dirt Rally
Cities Skylines
Pro Evo 2016
Way of the Samurai 4

Some older but still relevant games that I picked up -

Tomb Raider
Dark Souls II - SOTFS
FM2015
NBA2k15
Elite Dangerous
Valkyria Chronicles
Grid Autosport
Assetto Corsa

Some 2015 games on the wish list
MGS V
Dragon Quest Heroes
FFXIII series
Tales of zestiria
Fairy Fencer F

Pretty much every third party game is coming for the PC and it's usually the best version.

PC. If that doesn't count, then I guess PS4, since it's the only console I bought any games for this year. Even then, it was only one game.
