This fad or whatever or filming something on your phone is fucking infuriating, especially during fights or someone getting injured. Watching a crowd of people go from 'by-stander effect' to 'zombies with their phones out' is almost frightening to see.
Though, if I were talking to someone and they pulled a phone out to film me, I wouldn't be able to keep my calm, which is an irrational response but I would go fucking mental.

What have we become, that rather than dealing with these issues ourselves and growing as people, that we need to tattletale and hide behind a camera that feeds anything we have a hard time dealing with to a hungry mob?
I have faced much casual racism in my lifetime, and growing up in an age without these tools, it has shaped my inter and intra personal skills in a way that I can deal with just about any face to face situation. Looking back I wouldn't have it any other way. People should learn to stand up for themselves; there will always be others who antagonize you.

Maybe that person is just having a really shitty day. Maybe they aren’t always like that. Maybe there’s some other underlying issues for them being the way they are but you really don’t care about that. All you care about is ruining someone’s life who had you just walked away you’d most likely never see again.

Because recording them is typically something that only creates more resentment and entrenches people in whatever side they already believe. It leads to long term negatives and small short term gains for the other side. Recording and posting shit on social media just encourages non-action to other people, maybe you could impact even more people if they see someone DO something.
If I feel I need to record a situation I will hold on to it for a reason like evidence in a crime etc... not to post on social media to get some fucking virtue points and stir shit.

It would be one thing if someone slipped up and said something racist by accident and apologized, but 99 percent of the time these people recorded are harassing strangers who are just minding their own business.

People can be shitty. It’s been happening forever. If you get off on ruining someone’s life then by all means go for it. At the end of the day, I have no clue what has happened in that persons life to make them that way. I also have no idea if they have children or family they’re responsible for. The 5 minutes of gratification I’d get out of posting some unruly crap online simply isn’t worth the potential life ruining experience it could mean for the person on the other side of it. And this goes for any person, no matter the color of their skin.
