It is also quite different from prior games despite people calling it a souls game. The diminished variety of items and types of viable gameplay make it less of an rpg and more of a strait up action game, and not a particularly good one imo. And then there is the art style which may not be as appealing.

Pretty funny to see these dubious narratives being generated about Bloodborne just because it wasn't in the top 10 in the U.S. In its 2nd month.

2 million isn't very big by today's standards, especially for a $60 retail title.

And that's why platform holders like Sony have to subsidize development and marketing for these kind of games. They wouldn't exist otherwise.

And Sony is going to cut the price this year. I don't see why that is so hard to believe.

lol what. Just a reminder that Dark Souls 2 also fell off the top ten the month after it launched as well.

And the Bloodborne IP will never be multiplat, Sony owns it.

Bloodborne is doing fine. Charted in the individual charts, selling well digitally and already passed a million a month ago.

I know PS4 worlwide sales are amazing, but this isn't the case in America.

Well there is competition from the Xbox One. These 2 consoles are really close to each other.

Just when Wii U was starting to do a tiny bit good las month compared to last year and this happens. The console already has Mario Kart and Smash Bros yet it only move 43k this month. All my optimism towards the console has lost and now im worried about Splatoon. What if it doesn't even chart next month and since this is mostly an online multiplayer game the lobbies will be practically dead a month after release... God damn it Nintendo :'(

Looking forward to an awesome E3 by Nintendo tho.

It did surprise us, we had expectations to do well. We looked at the Souls series as a frame of reference, and we thought we could do better than that. We did – and then some. Relative to some of our sister territories, we were being quite ambitious, but even that proved to be conservative.

well i believe the comparison is for the souls series not just bloodborne so it is fair. I just don't think it can be called niche though. like sales of games like danganronpa, bayonetta, sunset, the latest monster hunter, etc can be called niche considering it is less that 500k in most cases, calling 2 and 3 million seller games niche is just crazy

I'm pretty impressed with how Xenoblade did. I mean, it's exclusive to the new 3DS, which has 800 thousand sales tops (Based on assuming all the 3ds sales since february were new 3DS XLs, which is obviously not true) and it's a very niche title

Bloodborne was always going to sell less. It's just not a game with mass appeal. The games are universally loved but don't sell like gangbusters. Surprised Xbox One won though. No real big games either.
