Not Misterx. A huge part of his narrative is saying that the Xbox One is playing the long game. He doesn't expect sales to increase until the DX12 SDK is put in and games are published on it.

He decides to raise some beef he has with NPD, just when the new numbers are released, and lo and behold they are unfavorable to the console he seems to feel some weird, emotional attachment to.
How emotionally deprived do you have to be, to not only be this affected by hardware sales but then to showcase it to the world, the same world that knows you write for a certain website?
When i was a kid and a SNES fanboy, some kids teased me that Mega Drive was better, it was 1 vs 3, i went home that day a little down, but was cheered up when my mom got me some juice. And that was that.
I am off to Heartstone to hopefully meet him and make juice out of him.

In Sony's last quarterly they announced 7.8m hardware sales in total. Then they "highlight" PS4 moved 4.2m of those on the same sheet. I'm not sure what you are accusing Sony of?

I'm not too surprised, buzz around Titanfall didn't seem like it was as big as I think some people were making it out to be.
Looks like a repeat of PS2 gen. Microsoft pretending it's still competing but really it's just in the same boat as Nintendo. Although the gulf between the Gamecube and the Xbox 1 will be much smaller compared to the Wii U and the Xbox One.

These are the lead impartial leaders of gaming journalist as we know it today. When people say that these people are insanely biased and shouldn't hold power in journalism, point to shit like this and journalists like Ryan over at IGN that use to write for OXM and wanted to host MS's E3.
Journalism needs to be impartial and written by trained professionals. We don't need babies who believe in console wars and people who suck-up for the "Dewrito"/Publisher money.

I'd like to take responsibility for the Ben screencap and point out that I generally like Polygon apart from a few individuals' antics.
Sure, it hurts and I do think people should cut down on it. He should stop adding fuel to the fire though.
Maybe learn to laugh a bit and look at why people criticize his work so much.
Basically all shipment terminology relates to "the retail channel".
When you ship something, you've "sold-in" to it.
When those retailers sell it on to consumers, you've "sold-through" it.
Product vendors only 100% their shipments into the channel, and that's also what determines how much money they get.
Selling through means that more will almost assuredly be ordered though, and if you are a platform for other things (like selling games), it's useful to know what size customer base you have.
