Even if Halo did 900k you can throw 200k with bundles on that and then 20-25% digital sales in there which would have around 1.5 million copies. For this gen that is probably not too bad given the barrier to entry a lot of games have been seeing.

To my mind, it's a great thing for the industry if Halo and AssCreed have massively underperformed. It means that consumers have reacted to last years rushed, broken, cash-grabs.

It will be interesting top see if MCC and Unity have damaged the franchises long term.

Obviously exclusives still matter, but any one paying attention can see they don't matter nearly as much as the used too. November will be a good test of this though with price parity and Sony 3rd party marketing competing with Microsoft's exclusive lineup...
