well, this is nice compared to some of the other things that have been said about me in the past.

Because everything else was relatively low too (AC in particular has got to be a huge disappointment imo). Understand that Halo is (was) a monster franchise, only comparable to Gran Turismo, COD, Fallout, Elder Scrolls or GTA (considering it is only on 1 platform generally).

Selling under 1m in its US opening week is a huge fall, whether you end up topping the monthly chart or not.

What tripped the PS4 appears to not have been Halo at all (it sold about the same or a little under last year it seems, to be confirmed), but hugely attractive November only bundles and the hope for widespread $299 deals around BF in my opinion.

I think you're right. I knew someone who was really excited for the star wars bundle but caved and got a Ps4 a few weeks ago. And I know like 4 different people who want to get a Ps4 on black friday this year.

In context yes. This is a flop for the franchise

It is a huge flop... being #1 means nothing with these low numbers for Halo franchise.

Well, keep in mind that Microsoft made a sizable profit from those Halo 5 bundles too. Also, with how low the sales are, I don't think anyone is truly the "winner".

Sony certainly got lucky that Halo collapsed the way it did.

Still, they need a massive November following this rather disappointing October performance.

I wouldn't call it a win by any means. I mean it had its first official price cut this month. It dropped a month to Xbone, but not by much. Even the leading console won't win all months

I would have to think if you're buying a PS4 you'd be waiting for the COD or BF bundle. I'd Gus's that's why they were slightly down.

PS4 was 297k in Oct 2014, that would be 21k less in a month with a price cut

I hope holiday sales all around pickup but it doesn't look like it will be that great with how mediocre the Black Friday sales bundles are. Fallout and battlefront will be huge though

Zhuge used to be on GAF, but he didn't have insider information back then (no idea if he does now either). Seems like he's gotten banned since then, but I don't know the circumstances. He was a great resource for past info, making graphs, and anything about Koei-Tecmo.

He kept getting banned for attacking other people, so after he came back for the 2nd or 3rd time he said he's done with gaf and he did a self ban.

people are losing their minds over how shitty the hardware sales are for both and how low sales are for halo 5 not because ms "won"

i am not sure how much better the bundles can get considering the magic price of 299 has been hit for black friday

Yup. Waiting for those November bundles. PS4 gonna do gangbusters next month, especially Battlefront. The reason Halo bundles are down is because they conned us into buying Xbox One's last year for MCC. I know at least 10 Halo fans real life who bought a console last year, and only bought game this year. Look how many fewer Xbox 360 Reach sold, compared to Halo 3 sold.

It just doesn't add up to 400 million revenue or whatever that PR said last week.

Lets say they shipped 500K of the $499 Halo 1TB Xbox Ones & 3 million $59 Halo 5 standalone games that would be $426,500,000

That's without adding the $69 controller , $249 Limited Collector's Edition & $99 Limited Edition prices into the mix.

If Sony hadn't had a price drop for more weeks of the month than Halo 5 bundle was available, I might agree. As it is, Sony made an effort to trump XB1 in Halo month and didn't quite make it. Still a valiant effort, though. Can't say they didn't try.

Nope.
Microsoft must definetly not be pleased with Halo 5 numbers. It didn't push hardware sales and it bombed compared to the past entries in the series if the sub million figure is true.
But Sony being down yoy on price cut month?
Nothing to be happy either, means they should have gone straight to 299$, they can ignore these weak sales if they have a huge November and December compared to last year. Right now it seems to be the case but at this point it's better not to be so sure.

Not sure touching this is a good idea but Zhuge is incredibly smart, does great analytics, and has constructed all his numbers from publicly available info like some kind of data ninja.

Doubt the results if you want, but I would not recommend doubting the guy.

Lol, there's no way ~276k is a win for Sony, no matter how close it is to MS.

While the impending November sales are probably a very likely explanation, you only have to look at the aggregate predictions to remind yourself how poor this month is for sales. I still can't get over it. I expected so much from this price cut. And the PS4 is down from last year. It's crazy.
