Shadow of Mordor did quite well! I hope the nemesis system catches on because that was the heart of the game. So good having enemies come back for me and speak specific dialog about past battles, etc as it was really engaging.

I've said it before but the Nemesis system will become the Hoard mode of this console generation.

As a sidebar, I think it's interesting to match the widespread celebration in this thread against the fairly negative-mixed reaction to Destiny's success in others. It's worth keeping in mind that a game being successful is typically good for the industry at large, and that regardless if a game is up your alley or not, it's typically shortsighted to wish for it to fail.

Not that surprising. Huge amount of sales for most games would be in 5 days after the launch. An entire month's sales or beyond really only matters when it comes to evergreen titles.

Agreed, but this is really only important to hardcore gamers. Most people buying a console during the holiday season will get the console that has the games they like (basically Halo/SSO vs LBP3/?, can't think of any other PS4 first party games).

I feel like this holiday season is where a large chunk of the 360 owners will upgrade to XBone's finally. May not be enough to get them ahead of PS4 for a month, but should get some better console numbers at least.

And man how many people are there out there than can own PS4's. Are people starting to buy a backup or something...

I just find it a shame that consumers aren't buying the console that has superior content, online, OS and controller. Come holiday the gap in content will become more apparent which should move millions of units so I will just play the waiting game.

Destiny on "Xbone" sold more (in NA), because you could get it for free with a new Xbone purchase (and it counted for NPD).

We don't know Xbox One sales and Destiny XBO sales. It's possible that whitout free copy, XBO version still sold more (but maybe we never know for sure).

And I know, with bundle PS4 version is ahead.

I would say that Sony charging for online play really harmed MS more than Sony. People are migrating to PS4 in droves, they are not willing to pay for two subscriptions. MS should remove the paywall from Xbl.

I doubt it's that high. I think that would be the biggest month of the year for XB1. They probably would have mentioned that.

US only. There was only like a 700K gap between PS4 and Xbox One sales in the US before September. It's easy to think a lot of those people who owned a PS4 had no interest in Destiny.
