Nvidia at Live GTC : DLSS 5

Looks bad* apart from the Leon image, also looks like >= RTX 5000 series only? I hope it works on RTX 4000 series also ( just a sliver of hope, pretty sure it won't)

*: waiting for optimization and release, there's no point criticizing now, it's not optimized yet - requires two RTX 5090 in that DF video lol.

The technology is cool.
The future will be about hybrid engines with traditional and neural rendering.
But the creative and artistic intent must be controlled by actual human developers.
This is not it yet, people don't want see human artistic intent be replaced by what an AI thinks is more photorealistic.

Would be super curious to see someone really test these and see what it's like when it fucks up, because GenAI by it's very nature fucks up a decent amount of the time.

This is wild. It looks amazing but it also AI slop and in some ways is completely butchering the artists intent.

If Devs can use it to program the slop to make it look like what they are happy with it would be good.

Is this gonna run an LLM in the background while you play? Or ping a datacenter and charge you tokens? Looks fucking nuts but not necessarily in a good way.

I'm amazed honestely. I can see the "AI slop" complain but it's just gonne be better and better to a point where we're gonna play movie quality like games in what, a year??

Holy shit.

That's some next level disgusting slop. Imagine gen z/alpha will think it looks good because majority of content on the internet will look like this very soon.

I don't know about the others here (and I see a lot of critics), but my mind is blown 🤷

Not long ago, we were discussing the use of AI in a thread, and examples were given, and this DLLS thing was one of them. Truly impressive.

Fucking nuts. Subtle start of generative AI in games. Honestly, NVidia just keeps giving and bringing new exciting tech for gamers.

Watching the video from DF and they are running it on two 5090s. The intention is to get it working on one GPU obviously. Apparently the model is changing all the time and they are tweaking it with perhaps leaving some stuff out from the model. It's a very early glimpse into the technology.

Now the faces can look dog shit, but watching the DF footage it does rather remarkable work on lighting. This can be seriously impressive stuff if the performance hit isn't too severe, and the face resolve gets worked on.

I'm really curious into how this gets worked on.

I'll watch the video, but at first glance that image of Grace on the right side of the thumbnail looks like every other slop AI generated image i've seen floating on social media over the past 3 years. That's not even the same character.

Alright, now to the video

Or just people who want a human-crafted experience with actual artistic intent?
then cant use upscalers of any kind, cant force HDR, no mods, cant force aspect ratios, etc.

dont want the tech to create a frankenstein of the source material, but would rather have this tech available than not
only gonna get better too
