Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 reviews and benchmarks

Looks like there will be an MSI Lightning variant of the 1080

Dual 8-pin and one six-pin power connectors :o

That's a bit silly, the thing isn't going to use more than 375 Watts now is it?
that's not a 1080, that's a 980ti

If you had to choose between these 3, which would you choose?
They are my options trough their step up program.

EVGA GTX 1080 Founders Edition - P/N: 08G-P4-6180-KR
EVGA GTX 1080 ACX 3.0 - P/N: 08G-P4-6181-KR
EVGA GTX 1080 - P/N: 08G-P4-5180-KR

I value low noise combined with solid performance. Will most likley not overclock the card.

All use the same reference PCB (5+1, 1x8pin) and the same clocks. Difference is the cooler.

Founders Edition: ""Premium craftmanship"" leaf blower cooler
ACX 3.0: Uses EVGAs new ACX 3.0 cooler, we don't have any meaningful reviews yet but it will likely be the best option for you if you don't plan to SLI.
"No tag": Uses a custom EVGA blower cooler. Again, no reviews and it's unlikely we will get any due to it being the cheapest (I think) card and most people SLIing will probably get FE anyway.

Jayz two cents had a look at the EVGA SC. didn't overclock it but it was running a lot cooler than the FE

When are custom 1080s supposed to be shipping? Ebuyer in the UK is saying 30th June which I hope is just a placeholder, and overclockers aren't saying anything for dates or even doing preorders anymore (just 'notify me when available')

Ebuyer gave me an estimate of 6th June for my FTW

Are any of the non-reference cards shorter or the same length as the MSI 970? I would buy one but i dont think a card longer than the 970 would fit

Gamers have terrible taste.

Everything has to blink and light up, reminds me of my taste in middle school.

Nailed it. Every time I see something marketed as "designed for gamers", it literally just looks like the real life counterpart to some 7th grader's crude drawings of complicated, over designed anime swords. Super cringey.

So what is with all these cards having RGB LEDs now. Is this really something consumers are demanding?

I agree that the typical "gamer" demographic has horrendous taste (just look at the design on most of the ROG stuff) , but what's wrong with RBG LEDs? You can always turn them off.

EVGA FTW is 10.5" long which seems the same (or a tiny bit shorter) than the MSI gamer 970

You may be able to pick it up? Ups allows you to pick up at customer center / warehouse if you want.

With traffic, it would either be impossible or take 3 hours to get there and back after work :/ I think I'll try to be patient for once and wait this one out. It still pains me, though.

This thing is a beast

Tbf, you can't really compare most of the specs just like that because it's completely different architectures and Nvidia and AMD don't measure Teraflops in the same way.

Considering the FuryX has like.... 8.5 TFlops. Yeah.

People were freaking out when they heard the new XBox might be a 6 TFLOP machine, and started comparing it to a TitanX. But it will likely have AMD hardware in it. But there was no talking sense into anyone in that thread....
