Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 reviews and benchmarks

the jump to 144hz is AWESOME. everything is smoother. I would definitely recommend a gysnc monitor either way you go. I have the below monitor and love it. 1440p, 144hz, IPS, gsync. Acer preadator xb271hu

Yeah I've always wondered if that was the case. I've had a friend describe it to me like using an SSD for the first time or upgrading your audio setup to an AMP+DAC. Once you use it it's hard to imagine how you ever got along without it. Would you agree?

I wish there were 4k 144hz around with g-sync. I can't really find anything.

Would a 1080 SLI setup be good enough to power 4K 144hz sufficiently

Looks like my 1080 will be arriving today.

I'll be upgrading from a 970, but any advice when installing the new card? Running Windows 10, but should I do a clean sweep and delete all of the drivers/Nvidia software before shutting down my computer for the install, or is that kind of stuff not really necessary anymore?

I'd use DDU and use the option for installing a new card.

Makes me feel good about hanging onto my EVGA 980 Ti:

Don't get me wrong, that's a really nice score, but I'm really happy I didn't lose my resolve and bite on the 1080. It would've been foolish in my case. Anyone coming from 7xx series cards or older are in for a real treat though.

Well for what it's worth, this is my first PC build in 10 years, so I have no idea what goes into these scores, or what they mean. I just threw together what I thought were good components, and on sale. I was more interested in the Graphics Score and how that compared to the reviewers OC, to see how my EVGA SC stacks up. Looks like it's doing well for itself.

Also, I am coming from the 980ti, and love the jump in performance, especially 4k. And I'll sell this and get the 1080ti as well. Different strokes for different folks.

Thats a good analogy. I went from 1080p 60, to 1080p 144hz gsync last year and was blown away by 144hz.

Last month I went to 1440p 144hz gsync and IPS. I think the jump to 144hz is greater than the jump to 1440p, but only by a hair.

Oh yeah, I'm not judging! I was only speaking for myself when I said I was happy I held off. If you're happy with the jump from a 980 Ti to a 1080, then more power to you. I'm sure if I had the money to do it, I'd be on board as well.

A little confused though. How is this your first PC build in 10 years if you're coming from a 980 Ti?

Are those shipping today or just preorders? I want to know if I should expend energy trying to get one.

I snagged an EVGA card yesterday and it's on the truck to be delivered today, so I think if the order goes through it should ship today. YMMV, of course.

I'm in the exact same situation. My plan is to power down, slap the 1080 in and power back up.

I've been saving my pennies and convinced myself I was going to get a 1070, but now that I'm actually ready to pull the trigger, I find myself thinking, "what's another $200 to get the best GPU on the market?"

Save me from myself, GAF.

That's easy: there will always be a better GPU on the market down the road. 1080 is overpriced for what it offers (+30% of performance of 980Ti which was more or less the same price - that's not a lot in my opinion). So if you're ok with spending $600 on something which will be just mid range in about a year then go with it. If not then get the 1070 - it's a more sensible buy considering what it offers and how it's likely to evolve in the market over the next year.

Something's not right, there. A 1080 Founder's Edition running at stock should hit over 19,000. Your SC should be at or over 20,000.

You might be getting too aggressive on your memory OC. Try running it at stock settings and see what score you get. If it's higher, then you're doing something wrong in Afterburner.

If that's measuring graphics score, which is the only thing that makes sense, his is 21k.

Anybody have 1440p benchmarks for Overwatch?

On my original Titan, a mix of high and medium, 2x AA, I get 60-80fps.

I'd really like to keep 100+ on max/max AA.

Do-able?

21k, noice. I get 20,500 at 1450mhz on my 980ti. What are your clocks?

Thanks man! I was at 1510mhz for this score, which was literally, to the last mhz, as far as I could possibly push my card and still successfully complete the benchmark. For actual gaming I keep mine clocked at 1430mhz or so.

I bought one of those HP deals and returned it.

For heavens sake would someone please answer my question. Pretty please. With an all natural non gmo cherry that I raised in my own garden on top.

You guys who are getting your cards next day from new egg, what shipping method did you use?

Looks like the 1070 demand isn't quite as high. Newegg put up FE's from four different manufacturers about 25 minutes ago, and three are still in stock. The MSI 1080 FE has also been in stock for the same amount of time.

I saw a next-day shipping option the few times I tried to order. It was like $33, but I can't remember the exact price. It's literally an option as you're looking at your cart on the screen before you checkout.

If I want a quiet 1080 with a small factory OC, is there an option for that yet?

I currently have a 970 with a decent amount of coil whine and it is pretty loud with its fans too.

Out of curiosity, what 970 do you have? You should definitely look into custom fan profiles, with either card.

Overnight with rush processing. It cost me an extra $43 total. Mine is sitting on the table at my house right now.

Yeah, that's what I've been choosing the last 20 times it let me add it to my cart but it always removes it after I enter my paypal info...

Thanks guys. Was just wondering if that's what people were using or if a cheaper method was just getting there as fast.

I'm surprised at this. I would expect those to be in higher demand due to the lower price point and better performance per dollar.

I chose the free Super Saver Shipping and my G1 which shipped Wednesday will be here Saturday. I'm on the West Coast though.

If you're on the East Coast, the Next Day Shipping might be worthwhile. On the West Coast, just get the cheapest shipping and wait an extra 2 days and save the $40.

Yeah, the fact that reviewers don't just use the graphics score (duh) instead of total score is really stupid. I just got 20,960 with my overclocked 980 Ti but my overall score is a measly 15.364 due to my motherboard/cpu.

So, the different versions are confusing. Of the SC, FTW, Strix, or one of the general Founder's Edition, which is 'best'? Hard to grok with no direct comparisons.
