SOURCES SAID internal figures supplied to the graphics industry players by Mercury show that Nvidia's total share of the graphics market fell by two points in the second quarter of this year.
Which, in itself, is interesting, because apparently total shipments are up by 15 per cent quarter on quarter, year on year.
The total graphics market share cake is sliced thus: Intel and ATI remain unchanged with 43 per cent and 26 per cent, while Nvidia's cut is 16 per cent.
In terms of discrete graphics chips, ATI has edged up slightly to 56 per cent, while Nvidia was in stasis at 41 per cent. For desktop machines, total shipments rose by four per cent compared to the previous quarter.
ATI and Nvidia were in stasis here, with each having 51 per cent and 46 per cent. Intel's share of this market dropped by one point to 40 per cent, ATI moved to 24 per cent, and Nvidia fell to 18 per cent. µ
