Since the Shield has HDMI out can I use a bluetooth controller for relaxed couch gaming on the big TV screen? And can I set this additional bluetooth controller as primary controller?
Yep.

If you plan on using a dualshock 3 though, I think you need to have your Shield rooted to pair the controller to it using a separate app. Wired controllers will work even when not rootedThanks! Now if only this could come out in europe... I wonder what's holding Nvidia back?

Have owned this thing since September 9th and it's still solid and fully functional to this day. No issues and great quality.
When I get my mini HDMI to HDMI cable it's going to also be my portable N64 and home console along with PS1, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, and tons more!
AFAIK, the only way to pair a DS3 controller to an android device is to use the sixaxis app on the Playstore, and that requires you to be rooted.I recently got a HDMI cable for it and its awesome, only issue is that I dont know if I can pair a Ps3 DS3 to it via Bluetooth without rooting.

I also bought a cheap hdmi adapter the other week and it does look pretty sweet on a tv/monitor. Unfortunately, the only OTG cable I have looks like this:

For some reason, the Shield is the only device I have with a microusb slot that's upside down, meaning that shape of my otg cable gets in the way of my hdmi adapter![]()
This is the app you need:If rooted, could I pair 2 controllers to the device via Bluetooth for 2-player console-like action on my TV?
My girlfriend has this desire to play Twisted Metal 3, but she doesn't want to move the PS3 from the livingroom because we have a lot of Rockband stuff she likes playing when friends come over.
Is there an OnLive app that works on the Shield? I can't stream from my PC and was wondering. I have Amnesia on Onlive and would love to play that on the Shield when I pick one up.
The one on the Play store works really well, but OnLive isn't updating with new games often enough lately for me to believe they'll stay in business past next year. You're better off signing up for alerts about the Nvidia Grid beta if you're in the US.
Obviously if you own stuff already that pontificating on my part is irrelevant to you, that was just my take when I tried it recently. The app itself works really well though.
I have the Onlive console so it worked with the controller. Not sure if played on a PC. I really want to be able to play Amnesia on the go.If its an old app, maybe not but didn't Amnesia only work on keyboard/mouse?
That is great news! Is it touch only games or does it support the use of the analog sticks?
Full controls, I tried out the Alpha Protocol timed demo and it emulated the 360 controller. If they were still adding recent games I'd be all over it.
Anyone know a way to get the Shield streaming to a Mobile card? Have a 770M in a laptop that I'd like to use, it should be capable of handling it but the website says it's not supported.
EDIT:
Found this if anyone is interested.

I recently upgraded to a 770 4GB and tried the Nvidia's streaming. At first i was disappointed since I had lag issues with Metro Last Light, but then I limited the streaming to 30fps and I was pleasantly surprised by it's performance.
However, compression artifacts are evident. I tried Crysis 3 and it doesn't look like Crysis 3 at 720p with very high DPI, not even close. It looks very muddy. You couldn't really appreciate the details afforded by running the game at very high.
This made me appreciate Nintendo's accomplishment even more.
Streaming was a lot better before. Some folks over on the nvidia forums said that the streaming bandwidth before the 60fps update was 25mbps, now it's 10mbps. The change was probably to accommodate the people who had routers that couldn't handle the bandwidth.
Hopefully, they'll release another update allowing you to customize the bandwidth like they did for the framerate.
I'm a bit behind on updates. Did I read this right? Does the shield do 60fps streaming now?

Is there a way to force the streaming to work even if Nvidia doesn't consider your hardware shield ready? I have a GT760 and an A10 6800k, and Nvidia doesn't consider the CPU acceptable even though it should match the i3 minimum.
Edit: reading the Nvidia forums they say they disabled cpu white listing but I swear last time I looked my cpu was flagged as non-shield ready.
Retroarch is back btw and is at 1.0.0 now

Yep. Just make sure you have a dual-band router.
DPad is solid, I can do Shoryuken motions fine in SF2.
For fans of the games, I just now discovered ports of Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy with full controls. Very nice! Been playing Jedi Outcast for an hour now. It's on the Google Play Store.
I own this on PC, I own this on Vita, and lord help me I think I'm going to Triple Dip and get this for the Shield.
I held the box for one of these today since Gamestop carries them. They had it permanently set at $249.99.
Was tempting, but having a 570 video card is holding me back.
