According to sources, Wu-Tang Clan member Ol’ Dirty Bastard passed away today.

While details are sketchy, sources told AllHipHop.com that the rapper collapsed and died

Well, that's what happens when all you put into your body is drugs and alcohol. Still, R.I.P. - that man was the embodiment of true "don't give a fuck" craziness and his raw energy will be missed.

:~(

He was my #1 MC

A few years ago he rescued a 4 year old from a car crash. He cared a lot about the kids. (that doesn't count the illegitimate ones he spent his life running from). He wasn't without his problems, but was definitely one of the more iconic rappers of our time.

Good riddance, the welfare frauding, drug filled dead beat got what he deserved.

Just one less pice of filth in the shallow end of the gene pool.

It's days like this I thank Darwin for being right.

There's a certain irony in an apparent fan of pro-wrestling celebrating the death of a drug-using rapper

The news report I saw said he complained about chest pains before he collapsed. Maybe he wasn't on a very healthy diet and ate fatty foods.

RiP ODB ... =(

*lights newport*

Do you really think that about the man? Did you not see the VH1 special about him after he got out of jail? The man was on the right track. He got a deal with Rocafella worth about a mil. He was clean and had to be cause he had to take piss test nearly everyday. His old ways was just about gone. He was a changed man. He even save a kid from dying yet he's filth? How many people lives have you affected? You sir, hold no weight.

Bummer. Despite getting himself cleaned up, the amount of crap he put his body through obviously took it's toll. I gotta say, he was one of the craziest rappers ever - but occasionally he'd drop a lucid rhyme out of nowhere that would slap you silly. More bounce to the ounce than 99% of the entertainers out there, that's for sure. And you KNOW he tagged Mariah Carey, right? :lol

Hey jecclr, I was tempted to call you an asshole and leave it at that, but jobber was eloquent enough for both of us.

man this sucks. ODB was probably my 2nd favorite WuTanger behidn the Rza.

There will never be a greater moment in TV history than the time he took a limousine to cash a welfare check after having already released a platinum album. RIP.

I remember reading an article in Vibe about this dude, just after he got out of prison. They were talking about how he partly in space while they were interviewing him. Sad stuff, but I'm glad he cleaned up afterwards at least until the end

This truly sucks. Any millionaire rapper that visits the welfare office in a limo with a camera crew is A-OK with me.

"Sad. :( Things were going well for him.. he was clean/sober and all that stuff. :("

I said the same thing about Ken Caminiti a few weeks ago. I'm inclined to believe that drugs are an addiction that is damn near impossible to break. If he truly was clean, more power to him, but, I find it hard to believe. RIP Cammy, ...oh, yeah, you too ODB.

Sorry to be harsh to the guy, but seriously are we supposed to cry a river for a deadbeat waste of a man? The guy didn't support his illigitimate children (how many was it of last count? Over 10? I know his surpasses Shawn Kemp.), especially considering he had millions in the bank.

On top of that frauding the welfare system, while once again, having millions in the bank. I partially blame the government for the ignorance of that, but oh well. While it was a funny moment on TV, it still was a bit on the wrong side. He did get charged for that little stunt anyway. Along with the picture of his welfar card he used as a cover to his CD.

If he was clean towards the end so be it, too bad it didn't work out. Perhaps he could have redeemed himself. Guess we'll never know.

I guess this pretty much solidfies no more Wu albums. Bummer they had some good tracks.

And who are you to say he didn't? How many will shed tears when you pass? If you're going to judge, judge righteously. Try not to be a hypocrite.
