I'm certainly not proud of this fact, but I read A LOT of pre-Disney EU and the Empire being racist was canon. Thrawn was the exception that proved the rule because he was so competent the Empire couldn't deny him command of the Oxbridge boys.1991:

Plus, like it is mentioned from my post above, even Thrawn received a lot of prejudice and hostility. It's been canon for a while that the Empire always has been xenophobic when it came to aliens.

That's why I was wondering about all the different alien inquistors. I grew up reading all the old EU stuff so I wasn't sure if that had all got retcon out even though thrawn was still a character.

Right, Thrawn overcoming Imperial racism was a major part of his character. Lucas (and the first EU authors/editors) was a Vietnam-era boomer and saw the world through that lens.

Yeah, Disney Star Wars doesn't seem to like their male OG characters much.
Even Disney Luke is acting a bit Sith like with his absolute choices and no emotional attachment thing while in ROTJ he banked on the opposite.

The inquisitor gets a chance to kill Luke with a lightsabre but ultimately chooses not to and then later on gets killed by Vader for it.
Though even I have my doubts about that since how would they explain Vader wanting Luke to join him in the OT.

Reva goes to kill Luke, but she can't do it as she saw Anakin killing the younglings.
She reports back to Vader and lies to him saying she killed Obi-Wan. He kills her for lying. He doesn't know about Luke until he blows up the Death Star.
