Oblivion Release Date

Very very excited.

Gotta make sure I finish up FFXII by then so I can play the WESTERN RPG OF THE YEAR after I finish the EASTERN RPG OF THE YEAR :)

Yessssss.

I'll have to try to get some time in on GRAW, Outfit and Battlefield 2 before Oblivion takes over for the long haul.

Dammit I won't have an HD tv by then...

Budo am cry..

Well everyone look forward to my Oblivion lttp thread in about a year or so :lol

Between Fight Night, GRAW, Burnout, Battlefield, Far Cry, and Oblivion, I don't think I'm going to have any free time or any free cash.

FUCK YEAH i was hoping it was in march, my interest for this game has gone from none to OMFGWTFBBQ I CANT WAIT ANYMORE

damn, cant wait.

the drought is nearly over :)

I expect that out of oatmeal... but not you. How about picking up Condemed, Marble Blast, or PD0. If you've played every good launch game, then call it a drought... until then I'll just assume that you'd rather wait a few weeks to spend the cashola on Oblivion and GRAW.

edit: I assume that I can delete op1vy from my friends list? I'll send a request for your new tag.

I'm so ready to play this. :D

I've decided to buy the collectors 360 edition out of appreciation to the developers for crafting such a huge and wondrous game. My most anticipated RPG in a long time.

Hold on a second, Bethesda is developing Fallout 3? I'M LATE TO THE PARTY...!!!

And finally - how's Fallout 3 coming along?

Pete Hines: We've got a lot of folks working on that game now, and what I've seen of it so far is looking really good and has me very excited - I'm a big fan. We're approaching Fallout 3 as if we developed the first and second games - we're developing it just like we developed Oblivion. Fallout 3 is our baby, we want to stay true to what it is and we want to deliver something that all the fans think is worthwhile. We're trying to move the series forward, keeping it fresh and cool while staying true to its roots. When we're ready we'll let people know, and hopefully people will be excited about some of the ideas we have and some of the stuff we're up to.

OMG............... Nice! :D 360 version plz. :)

Heh, if it wasn't for the non-working King Kong demo I wouldn't have touched my X360 for about a week now since I got bored of Marble Blast and finished Kameo. Unless there are some new XBLA titles or good demos out I don't see myself turning it on until Fight Night comes out and even then only occasionaly since I'm not gonna be playing a boxing game 24/7 for weeks. Burnout + GRAW will be the end of the drought IMO since those games will the first real meaty single player experiences since launch.

eh, none of those interest me, with the possible exception of pd0, but based on impressions i wont buy that at full price.

i like the games i have, dont get me wrong. i think overall it was a pretty good launch, but there hasnt been a single game i'm interested in since then.... so, yeah, i definitely cant wait for the next titles to hit. fn3, far cry, moto gp, battlefield, oblivion, and graw. *whew, did i miss any?

oh, add LoopOfHenle

March 24 sounds a little too optimistic to me. But surprises have happened before.

Hmm? The game is practically done already. They are showing the gold copy at various press events at the end of the month.

There's a CE of the 360 version.

It should be noted that the developers have yet to post an official confirmation. My guess is they are waiting for the end month conferences. Which is bizarre, since it should be gold soon. Of course, they have a large quantity of Collector's Editions to print and press...

I'm trying not to get too hopeful. This is still over a month away. The only damn game I give a rat's ass about right now. Shit, maybe I'll actually go finish Condemned.

Desslock of Computer Gaming World fame is really shitting his pants with delight over this game. He's notoriously difficult to please, and had a lot of bones to pick wioth Morrowind. I am cautiously excited.

Clue #1 of it not being popular in Japan:

It was not developed in Japan.
That's a bit fucking harsh. GTA still sold more in Japan than 90% of the other games released that year. Crash Bandicoot and Ratchet & Clank are the best non-Japanese performers, I think. It has a lot to do with marketing though.

Point taken. GTA:VC did about 400,000 through Jan 05, not too shabby a number. Still, it was 1/16 of the number in the US as of the same timeframe.

Who knows, get a Japanese publisher to bring it over, make the default perspective third person (and possibly reconfigure the controls to something more fitting a third person game, as well), and see what happens.

Be excited, this game looks like it'll deliver.

I can't wait!

I don't know. Morrowind was absolutely awful and I don't know if the gameplay is going to be much different in Oblivion. Visually, it looks solid, and I'm sure I'll have fun exploring the large land mass, but I have reservations still about Betheseda's ability to make a good combat system.

Much of the gushing in previews can practically pin this as being Morrowind 2.0 than a truly unique IP, subtle alterations to the underlying mechanics(proper real-time hit collision, global leveling with your character) and improved technology may actually deliver with less fault what was attempted in 2002.

Of course I can't think of a single game I am anticipating more in 2006. The true reason I bought a 360.

What about Daggerfall 3.0? Or Arena 4.0? This is the 4th game in the series. ;) Anyway it looks like this series may be like a fine wine: Get better with age (and technology).

The 360 limited edition is official to the person who asked.

PC version for me. I can't live without the user plugins, Morrowind was so bland without them and they lengthed the game like six more months for me.

Awesome! Hopefully, the game is free of game-breaking bugs and has a solid 30fps with no screen tear. PLEASE! Even if it's in the same fucked up shape that the original XBOX release was in, it's still MINE!

And here Peter Moore thought we could just walk into a store in six weeks and find a 360. He must have not talked to Bethesda first.

i'm confused... it is essentially morrowind 2.0. in case you didnt know, oblivion is elder scrolls 4

But I wanna be pessimistic; it cuts the disappointment if bad news arrives. Can't you let me go to hell the way I want?

Well my point being that most(not all) of Morrowind's faults were technical rather than conceptual. Muggy world, doddering combat, sluggish travel, crashes, glitches, framerate woes, journal...

Outside of those concerns, much of what is discussed in preview form is radically familiar. But yea, this is Elder Scrolls 4 obviously.

I wouldn't count on that date too much.
Even though it's pretty believeable that Oblivion will be released around that date, Bethesda hasn't officially announced the date themselves, only speculation from C&V.
The official releasedate is still set for early 2006.

But I feel the same way most of you do, I'm countning on the game to be released in late march, and I do expect it to be great.

*WARNING*

Bethesda said not to trust any release unless it's coming from them.

But March 24th has been floating around for a while now and i heard the game is passing through certification; it should be going gold anytime now, major problems aside.
I personally can't wait anymore, Oblivion is probably my most wanted ever.
