Oblivion Remastered |OT| Kvatching up with an old hero

I am enjoying the game more now with a few mods installed. That being said, why is the world so empty? Its beautiful but there is nothing going on
I think the map was procedurally generated, which imo is the reason why it's less geographically interesting than Morrowing or Skyrim.

It's still worth to explore it, specially tring to find the daedric shrines which usually lead to some very interesting quests.

Relatively I find there is way more going on than in KCD2.....simply because the map is way more condensed. Not really sure what you talking about. Every 5m I have wolves, bears, ogres, Oblivion gates, dungeons. I think its absolutely fine how it is. (KCD2 is also fine, just because its way bigger and also more realistic that not so much happens every 5meters)

There is more going on than KCD2? Are you taking the piss mate?

So my current plan for this was to do all factions quest lines, then main story.

For the expansion main stories what are the quests called? I'll do those last.

During the quests added with the deluxe version, youre taken to two daedra shrines out in the wild, one for Hircine and another før Molag Bal. Ive never seen any of them before, gonna go back and see at the required level 17.

Patch can't happen soon enough,

3 times today I had this bug where the game freezes on PlayStation then you hit the PS button and it freezes the PS.

Your options are waiting about 2 minutes then it catches up and unfreezes or hard wire pulling from your ps5…

I hadn't had any issues with the Pro.

Did you played extra ordinary long when this happens? I have the feeling when I have a longer session (on PC) the game is more likely to crash (somehow only when I try to reload a save) the longer it runs. So yeah, feels a bit like memory leaking. When it crashed and you restart new....everything is fine again for a pretty long time and than it starts again. Not a big problem, because it crashes only when I want to reload anyway....so nothing of value is lost, except one minute of time....but its still annoying, I agree.

mines bugged out at the retaking of Kvatch Castle, we've cleared the courtyard and now need to storm the castle but the bloody bloke wont follow me into the castle, ive went in, killed everyone and came out to him and he's still outside saying we need to storm it FER FUCKS SAKES, i wouldve thought by now all these sort of bugs wouldve been well taken care off

The game definitely performs worse after a couple of hours into each session.

Just working on the Fighters Guild now. After that all I have left is the main quest and Shivering Isles. Should be an easy platinum.

Thats not a bug. I thought so first as well....but just go in....to the end room. There is one guy lying who has a ring. Take this ring and bring it to the "bloody bloke". Quest will continue.

Can you just progress the quest by finding the dead body of the Count? That's what I did since nobody wanted to follow me inside. Once you find his ring you should be able to progress.

I literally JUST did this last night and had the exact problem!! You need to kill everyone there, and then he just stands there repeating himself about the courtyard. To progress you have to go inside the castle (even though the dumbass says courtyard and thats what threw me off) and kill all the enemies in there and in the one bedroom there in the back is the body on the floor that you have to search and take the key from him. Then you go back to the courtyard where the dumbass is and talk to him and you can end the quest.

I also thought this was a bug and just reloaded an earlier save and carried on with a different quest :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Thanks for clarifying guys

The reveal of Shivering Isles really is something isn't it?

That's all I've got left now. Will end up at around 80 hours for the entire playthrough, which should just be enough for the game not to overstay it's welcome.

Shouldn't have left the Fighters Guild until last my god that was tedious, wouldn't have done it if the achievements weren't so simple.

70 some hours played, and got the platinum trophy.

Now I can do shivering isles. Got in here a bit and like all the new enemy varieties and the oddness of the whole place. The guy in charge looks cool as hell too.

Not sure if I'll continue. Think it's time to say farewell and go back to kingdom come 2.

I'd give oblivion a 10/10. My favorite Bethesda game for sure. I had an absolute blast and felt like I only scratched the surface.

I would pay for a mini expansion that adds more Oblivion worlds. There are, what, seven maps + the quest maps? I dig the concept of going up and down interconnected towers but it all looks the same... It's dreadfully boring.
I would even take one single tower - get it done in three minutes and pop a fat Punished at the top.

Confirming the longer you play the worse performance gets.

Wild I subjected myself to this for over 70 hours and a platinum trophy but ignorance is bliss I guess.

GAF was right , memory leaks.

They should do like the Morrowind XBOX version and silently reboot the console after a while lmao.

Strangely I have had zero degradation on PC but I've had a few crashes on Shivering Isles.

Honestly I think this game becomes better when you put the combat on easy and dont have to slash enemy sponges with robotic animations for an eternity.

The combat is clunky as heck

I think there is some merit to it, but it needed some tweaks. 1 v 1 melee combat feels good and has moments where I think 'wow that was cool' like when a 2Hand weapon enemy baits me into moving forward to strike, only to sidestep and heavy swing to hit me in the side.

There was also a moment where a hand to hand enemy did a power attack while I was blocking, knocked my weapon out of my hand, picked it up before I could, and started using it against me. Another bow enemy kept attempting to kite up stairs while shooting below, granting him headshot advantage.

They will also go in for a rush attack once they manage to deplete your stamina, which would be the equivalent to a slight daze or breaker punish in a fighting game.

Like the game has the skeleton of a cool combat system there and decent AI for it, but to me where it actually falls apart is when you encounter more than two enemies. Then it just becomes a messy brawl where everyone is accidentally hitting each other and yet you, the player, are taking all of the damage on top of that and sometimes the enemy might take none (from other enemies next to them).

One of the things I feel the next Bethesda game should address better are the concepts of friendly fire and human shields. There needs to be even more of a risk of friendly fire specifically, especially if human shields ever becomes a mechanic. It would make for a much more fun engagement and flow of combat.

Well there we go. It's done, it's over. And glad of it too, the little bugs and glitches start to irk you once you get past 40 or 50 hours. Not to mention the weather is getting far too nice for RPGs that take up a month of your life. The next thing I play will be a Mario game on the Switch 2.

There's a lot of talk about madness in the dlc, you know what's truly crazy? Having ONE achievement that is locked behind a binary choice over 10 hours into Shivering Isles. There will be so many people who end up with 59/60 achievements who can't be bothered to go back. I was incredibly fortunate in that I created a manual save just before the decision has to be made.

How far into things is the choice? Is there an obvious character that you talk to for it? If so is there a save-friendly spot before doing so?

You will be asked to become a duke of mania or dementia. You can only do one on each playthrough but there is an achievement for each.

This must be an oversight. I can't imagine they thought people would go through a second playthrough for one achievement.

Can you tell me what it is and spoiler tag?

I have the platinum but thinking of doing all of shivering isles tomorrow so it's truly 100%.

The game has finally clicked for me. I am enjoying it very much now. That being said, some mods are in my opinion essential

I have installed a difficulty mode that makes enemies less spongy and its night and day difference. I have installed as well one that makes two handed weapons have more ranged ao it doesn't feel like you are slashing the air most of the time. I have removed too the stamina for sprinting

Another mod that is really good is one that makes archery much more satisfying by speeding up the use of the bow and even adding a slow motion feature

And lastly, responsive combat AI is very good too, make enemies more aggressive and a bit faster so you have to put more effort into combat

This picture looks so nice. Love the light beaming through at an angle through that archway.. I could not imagine playing games that looked this good when I was young and it's crazy that while I appreciate how great this game looks, so many aspects that make it possible I take for granted to some degree these days as given.
