Where is Cartman when you need him.
At William Street, they were blocked from proceeding toward the stock exchange, and the march ended in front of a Greek Revival building housing Cipriani Wall Street. Patrons on a second-floor balcony peered down.
As some of the patrons laughed and raised drinks, the protesters responded by pointing at them and chanting pay your share.

I can only hope he decided to actually research First Amendment jurisprudence and realized that "Congress shall make no law" doesn't actually mean you can say what you want, when you want, and where you want.pje122 said:I think you guys scared him away...

Worse is there is also "street theater."brucewaynegretzky said:Interesting hyphenation...
I never got why you wouldn't carefully spellcheck a protest sign if you WANTED it to get viewed by the general public.

well the tea party also had millions in funding and support from many major news outlets. those are some pretty material differences for starters. kind of shocked that the idea of the tea party as anything even near a grass-roots movement was accepted by anyone without a strongly vested (often literally) interest in maintaining that fictionVeezy said:See, this is why the hard left fails in America, from the perspective of a hard left person.
Tell me why ANYBODY should listen to such an unorganized group of people. Look, say what you want about the Tea Party, but that at least had kind of a consistent message. At least everybody knew "Wow, they really fucking hate the president" and "Jesus, they're worried about the debt." You knew who they were, you knew they were angry, and they got some sort of message across. I mean, most of they are pretty ignorant and actually don't know why exactly they believe what they do, but they got spirit!
These people? They have a drum circle. A fucking drum circle. Are you kidding me? Where's the cohesiveness? The consistent message? Shit, name one elected official who would see some ass holes with long hair and a drum circle and go "shit, I better get my ass in gear!"
Dressing up as a fucking choir while one person has a sign against Christians? I mean god damn. What are you saying? Your symbols need to be obvious or they don't get the message across. If I have to ask "what do you mean," not because I disagree but I'm confused as to what you're message is, you've already missed the point of a protest. A protest is "this is what we want and why" not "let's inconvenience a bunch of people and hang out."
Am I just missing something, because all this looks like is a group of people who are middle class white privileged ass holes who probably couldn't explain their position and have no idea what paycheck to paycheck when you're terrified to go to the hospital cause you don't have insurance feels like.
I get that, believe me. The Tea Party was created, almost quite literally, by Fox news.AstroLad said:well the tea party also had millions in funding and support from many major news outlets. those are some pretty material differences for starters. kind of shocked that the idea of the tea party as anything even near a grass-roots movement was accepted by anyone without a strongly vested (often literally) interest in maintaining that fiction
brucewaynegretzky said:Prior to the recent trend of posting pictures there's been more conversation about people being embarrassed that these people are going out trying to present the views of more knowledgeable people making us all look bad. Kind of like how the Tea Party reflects poorly on thoughtful people like Gaborn.
Where did you see any humor? I don't think the people in the pictures think they are being funny. Why are you mocking them?Smash said:Nice images of peaceful protesters using humor to convey their message. I can't say the same for the prick posting them that happens to be one of the most awful ignorant posters in the OT.
Bloodbeard said:Which is hilarious when you consider most of the threads on OT Gaf (ie. girl-age).
This.brucewaynegretzky said:Huh? These people have shown a clear lack of knowledge on simple policy matters. I'm not even talking about their choice in clothes, drum circles, etc.

So post some, and stop whining and calling names.Smash said:I'm browsing a couple of other forums too and I've seen a few funny geeky stuff. Overall a fun, colorful, and innocent demonstration. Exactly the stuff that dicks like Manos would hate. If it isn't war or assassinations it's not manly enough for him.

When trying to project to America why our current ecomic policy doesn't work and why there isn't actually a debt crisis, one should not wear a wet suit while holding, what appears to be, a lunch box with a chalk board glued onto it.
