Not going to pretend I've loved the entirety of Lucha Underground Season 3. But I'm gonna be bummed when it's over. They've really brought it together since the semifinals of the Cueto Cup.
Here are my five favorite matches of the 3rd season.
1. Killshot vs Dante Fox, Hell of War. All of the fun of a tournament of death match while being a great feud ender. Yeah the spots are crazy, but they actually told a great story too.
2. Killshot vs Marty the Moth, Weapons of Mass Destruction match. Not as crazy as hell of war in the deathmatch sense, but crazy as fuck because Marty brought a fucking machine gun to the ring.
3. Pentagon Dark vs The Triad. Pentagon Dark fought Io Shirai, Kairi Hojo, and Mayu Iwatani in a gauntlet match. Surprise, it was amazing. All three of the ladies looked like fucking aces even though you sort of knew how it was going to go. I say sort of because the finish came out of nowhere and fucking ruled.
4. Cage vs Texano, Match 5 in the best of 5 series. The best of 5 series between this two wasn't really that good until the last two matches. Match 4 was solid, but match 5 was awesome because it happened right after match 4 (making it actually feel exciting) and it was a pretty good match. For real though, the reason this is here is because after winning this Cage wins a goddamn gauntlet. Which would eventually lead into the best scene in Season 3, where Cage punches the head off the government agent investigating the temple, Mortal Kombat style.
5. Aztec Warfare III. Aztec Warfare 3 is the big Royal Rumble style match. We had everything from the Triad making their debut (mentioned above), Matanza FINALLY losing the title by taking almost every finisher in the company, Angelico making what feels like his only appearance in the season and doing what he does best (jumping off the roof) and more. This would be higher if it wasn't for the winner.
