Seriously :lol I'm loving everything about this preseason except our run blocking. We've got a threat on special teams, we can actually keep field position with Sepulvada, our defense looks even better then last season, and Sweed has shown that he can actually catch... sometimes. The only questions I have is our run blocking and running backs, we didn't really get a good look at Mendenhall or Parker this preseason.

Yeah, exactly, just about everything hinges on how well (or how poorly) the Oline performs. It's tough to gauge because they haven't played together a whole lot. They looked pretty good against the Bills, but then again, the Bills put up little effort. And the running has been in fits and spurts as a result.

But it sure looks like they shored up their special teams weakness in a big way. *Keeping fingers crossed that injuries stay away.*

Brady gets praise for the 50 TD season...

Of course he does! It's a measurable statistic, one of the most prominent for a QB, and he set the record. It's a way different situation to praise a QB for a phenomenal season versus criticizing a rookie for turning the ball over. A football writer should be able to go beyond the numbers to give readers an insightful look at a complicating sport. In the case of that Detroit Free Press article, they (apparently) did a disservice to the people who rely on them for football information.

There's a big difference between breaking down why a turnover happened and saying how such a thing could be avoided (as in, the left tackle missed a block but Sanford should have gone in the fetal position to avoid fumbling the ball) versus dumping all the blame on the rookie without properly analyzing the causes. That's the big issue here.

Can't wait till our first game, we're the first game of the season too :D

He looks alright, has flashes of brilliance but it's hard to gauge considering he hasn't played all that much and our rush blocking is pretty horrid.
I just had a feeling this year he could beat out parker for the starting RB. You still think that has a chance of happening as the year goes by or is parker cemented to be the dominate back ?

If I'm Coughlin, I'd risk going in with two QB's. I would stash Bomar on the PS and say sorry, but so-long to Woodson. Love the Reese, but Woodson was an awful pick in hindsight.

I haven't seen one flash of brilliance yet out of that young man. He failed to pick up a block in the Redskins game that almost got the QB killed. He shakes and bakes way too damn much, and seemingly doesn't like to make contact with the opposing players. Not to be critical.

I will say this; during his tenure in Illinois, he was always known as a gamer. Sucked ass in practice, but in the big time games came through. So I'll hold out final judgment on the guy until this season is over (baring in mind he doesn't get injured.)

I agree about the QB situation, go with two again and park Bomar on the practice squad. I'm not upset that the Giants took a flyer on Woodson so late in the '08 draft (198th overall) but we saw by the Jets game that he doesn't have it so the second half of tonight's game should've been time for Bomar.

I'd definitely rather see Sinorice axed before David Tyree. Helmet Catch aside, he was always such a great special teams guy. Maybe we can trade Moss for a late round pick to somebody needing a punt returner or in exchange for a back-up OL or safety?

All in all I was very pleased by the starting offense tonight and it was a big bounce back game after the fiasco of drops against the Jets. Nicks continues to show flashes and Manningham made some great plays too.

Really excited for Manningham and Nicks. I'm hopeful the trio of Steve Smith, Mario Manningham, and Hakeem Nicks become the top receivers by mid-season. I like Hixon, but there still seems to be a lack of a premier return guy. Ware is dinged, Moss has shown zilch, and I hope Bradshaw sticks to becoming a dash counterpart to Jacobs.

Vick is back!

And you people think Big Ben holds onto the ball too long. ;p
Big Ben has no running speed so it would make sense to throw it away, if anything his reluctance to do so is even worse. At least Vick's ungodly athleticism at the position gives him a chance for a home run... however because he may think that it also will get him in trouble.

Just came to say that yes, I did see the Steelers 7th string RB run in a TD from 10 yards out against our first team defense -_-
Was there too. We're gonna get rocked this season unless Jake Delhomme starts seeing code.

Yeah, except Vick hasn't been in the NFL for 2 years. He should have known better.

Ben's 'reluctance' has also attributed to many great plays, as well as the bad ones.

Dexter who?

ROFL, I just looked up Dexter Jackson and wikipedia turned up this (about another TB Dexter Jackson):

For some unknown reason (sub 4.3 speed) Jackson was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the second round (58th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft. On July 25, he signed a four-year contract. Dexter didn't play much and when he did he seemed timid. This single draft pick was most likely the straw that broke the back of the Jon Gruden and Bruce Allen Regime. Buccaneer Scouting is now in question.

Oh man, I SMH'ed all through that. Dude obviously has the "I got to prove myself" monkey on his back. But do that shit in Season, Vick, preferably when playing the Giants.

Yeah, I've been disappointed in Mendy. At times he runs with no power and other times he has zero vision. And he still has a tendency to fumble. Granted, it's a work in progress line and they haven't seen much playing time with Mendy back there. Plus, after missing so much of last year, he's practically a rookie. I'm keeping my fingers crossed as I loved him as a late first round pick. But he's got work to do.

Snyder can use all the money he's squeezing out of 72-year-old bankrupt grandmother lifelongs to pay for the best of every position!
Go head have Snyder spend shit loads of money on his team next year. The Skins will still suck.
Same thing with the cowboys.

One thing's for sure, the Ravens will keep losing to the Steelers.

The Redskins will always be the whipping boy of the NFC East. Kinda sucks to be the 4th in the NFC east.

thank god the cardinals left... 5th sucked worse.

This is why I do not panic when my team has some issues during preseason....

Mike Smith per AJC said:
"The thing that you have to realize in these (preseason) games is that you are going to call things defensively and offensively to put players in different situations to evaluate them," Smith said. "You are not game-planning. You are putting players in situations to see how they are going to handle certain techniques and certain coverages. It was a very good evaluation process and sequence for us."

To go with the unrestricted free agency rising from 4 to 6 years and the ability to franchise/transition 2 players. Good luck finding anything of quality that slips through that filter. Players are gonna be crying next spring when they wake up to the reality.

Copycat league in motion. As soon as Gailey was fired, the rest of the monkeys thought, "You can do that? I didn't know that." Really reflects well on the head coach, though. Way to waste your preseason. And no, you don't look incompetent for either hiring or going into the preseason with him as your OC.

WTF now the Bills are firing their OC? When did this become a trend?

Long overdo. Offensive coordinators, or offensive coaches, come to Buffalo and promise two things, shotgun and no-huddle (The K-Gun is back, have no fear!).

This hybrid west-coast/run-n-shoot/no-huddle offense Schonert installed was fucking dog shit. Our play calling was incredibly predictable, and personnel was woefully in adequate to run such an offensive system. We passed out of the gun, and ran under center, we couldn't run the ball effectively out of the gun because our interior line was shit (upgraded in the draft). They couldn't trap and pull the way they wanted out of the gun.

Edwards is a nice guy, he won't throw anyone under the bus, but he's taken very small jabs at the coaching staff, saying "We have guys that have talent, and want to be coached to do the right thing." That's as inflammatory as he's ever going to get. They looked totally unprepared in the preseason, and the offense was putrid down the stretch. We had success when we lined up under center and pounded the ball.

Thank god they fired this hack, too bad Van Pelt & Co. aren't much better, but at least the play calling won't be totally shit, at least I hope not. Entire staff should have been let go after last season, I hate this Cover 2 junk they run, awful.

Patriots just dropped another QB, leaving an undrafted rookie as Brady's backup. Give 'em a call Chilly! They wants them some TJack!
