Jackass.
oh boy. RBIs are team and lineup dependent statistics. They are not a good way to evaluate a player's performance. They are more accounting stats than analysis stats. With batting average it doesn't take into account a lot of factors, the most basic is walks. And then HRs are just one type of hit, so not that useful compared to stuff like slugging percentage which account for HRs, doubles and triples.kpop100 said:I would say anyone who is leading in both average and RBIs by a fair amount and with decent HR numbers (at the all-star break) at least deserves to be in the running.

I can't believe somebody actually managed to post something more offensive than Pete Rose's dong tonight.

Here are a few articles that can get the basics across

And then there is the Fangraphs Library (click the little tabs at the top, offensive stats, defensive stats etc.) http://www.fangraphs.com/library/
probably has to do with it being a long and drawn out slump so we could see it coming a mile away, and then of course being used to all this stuff, but just in the playoffs.tmdorsey said:I will admit that I'm not the biggest fan of baseball, but Braves-GAF why am I so indifferent to what's going on right now? Wasn't even going to waste Trips on you. I would've used Johnny Ace.darkside31337 said:I was gonna write that post but I really didn't want to be on the wrong end of another Triple H gif
Usually he gets the call only 4 inches off the plate.Taxman said:So I don't usually see Rivera pitch because I hate the Yankees, but does he usually get strike calls on balls 9 inches inside or was it just that one ump?
Well, you nailed it, he indeed gave up two runs... we need to get rid of Bard, and pay whatever it takes to keep Papelbon, I think. Bard has clearly proven himself this year to not be the closer of the future.kpop100 said:Everyone had done is to Bard in the last 2 months. If they don't score at least 2 off him something is wrong.

A Papelbon BS to end their season would be the greatest thing ever.
