I'll go ahead and pull some quotes for our purposes.Capndrake said:This is pretty crappy: Apparently developers/publishers have no clue what the WiiWare release dates are.
So, not only do they not know which dates their games will be appearing, but furthermore they don't know which of their games will be put up? No wonder Interplay couldn't give release dates for Earthworm Jim, Boogerman, and Clayfighter; this is a mess of the highest order. Not only does NOA avoid advertising its own service, but its treatment of VC (and WiiWare) literally prevents third-parties from doing promotional work on their end? That would make the situation even worse than I've been claiming, and you all know that I've been claiming it's pretty bloody bad.Weve spoken to one WiiWare developer (who understandably wishes to remain anonymous) and they have a slightly less positive tale to tell about the way Nintendo handles WiiWare titles. It seems that getting solid release dates is near impossible, and in some cases Nintendo is not even informing the developer until the game is actually available for download. Our contact currently has a highly anticipated game awaiting release, but he commented that he was completely in the dark about when it would actually make an appearance on the digital shop shelf that is the Wii Shop channel.
This disappointing practice isnt just confined to WiiWare distribution, though; in relation to the Virtual Console service, we spoke to yet another publisher who was also clueless about when their games would be made available to the public, largely because Nintendo refuse to inform them of what games will be appearing, and on what date.
Mind you, on principle I hate Luc Bernard's horrible shovelware-looking titles with their jerky-looking physics and their vague attempts at would-be sociopolitical shock factor, but even he deserves to know when a complete "game" will be put up. What a sad showing, if any of these things are true.6. Corbie 29 May 2008, 23:43 GMT
I have spoken to several Virtual Console publishers and have heard exactly the same thing. One in particular was quite miffed about the fact that they were not being allowed to have the VC games they wanted released and were given absolutely no indication of when these games might be made available for release here in the US.

Depressing, though not surprising.
Luc Bernard recently made a comment on his blog about the WiiWare release of Eternity's Child. Something to the effect of, he has no idea when it will be released, its all up to the PUBLISHER.
Thanks, Ninty!

Sort of like how gas prices are obscene, healthcare is in the toilet, the dollar is going to shit, we still can't find some decent jobs, and Nintendo's support is completely shit-tastic.
I say meh to all of it.

Yeah, seems like the channel got released sometimes after 2 am last night.Capndrake said:Nope.

Only the US got Rambo: First Blood Part II I think, in Japan and Europe it wasn't based on anything.:Motorbass said:Transformers and Rambo!?? Licensed games? wtf? That's cool news; let's hope for some Turtles action and stuff...
correct.. It actually wasn't a half bad commando clone to be honest. Still have the cart and box/manual. But yeah... probably little to no chance of this being released here and if it were it would probably cost 600P or something for the license.Capndrake said:Only the US got Rambo: First Blood Part II I think, in Japan and Europe it wasn't based on anything.
I honestly believe that the entire hold up with a DECENT DD system is the EXACT SAME THING that held it up in the music industry and is holding it up with movies.... politics... The bottom line is Sony, MS, and Nintendo NEED to do what the music industry has done and that's essentially remove themselves as "top publisher". I agree with keeping releases on the same day each week, but let companies release their titles when THEY want to. You will create a much more fertile market and in turn it will be up the companies to compete... Not up to them to whine and cry to Nintendo or for Nintendo to decide we only need two games this week.RedBoot said:Why is it that Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft, all three of them, are completely missing the point of digital distribution? Is it really that hard? It must be frustrating as hell to do whatever it is that has to be done to get a game up on the VC, and then just have to toss it into Nintendo's pit and hope it sees daylight someday.
I'd guess the latter, if anything. Or maybe Earthbound instead? :lolMoxManiac said:Super Mario RPG and PS4...jesus. We better get at least one of those in the US next month.

Capndrake said:Oh, and the US/Europe/Australia get no TG games in June, which shouldn't be a surprise really.
I think they don't list imports in advance, but still do everything else. The Japanese page still has a To Be Released section (Then again, that might be because NCL reveals the entire month's schedule).RedBoot said:Well, since Europe got TG-16/CD games last month despite the Hudson site not updating in advance, I wouldn't say that means we won't see any in June.
In fact, based on how Nintendo's been acting as of late, I wouldn't be surprised if they told Hudson to stop updating those in advance. But maybe I'm just being optimistic and want Ys and Dragon Slayer to finally come out...
IMHO it's the classic case of a good game that was pretty dramatically eclipsed by later games in the series. If you are ok with that type of thing, then yeah.... definitely a great game as far as I'm concerned. But if you are more familiar with some of the mechanics and characters later in the series, it might seem a tad dated.zoukka said:Is SS concidered as a good game? Nuclear Muffin said:Woah, Japan hasn`t got Lords of Thunder yet?! Man, they`re missing out!
Yep. Same chip as Pilotwings actually (the DSP-1) which was actually part of the original SNES spec that NCL removed last second for cost reasons.MoxManiac said:Mario Kart used a special chip?
Wasn't Nintendo published, and it used the FX1 chip. So did Vortex, while DOOM and Winter Gold used the FX-2.Ranger X said:What about Dirt Track FX?
wasn't it using the SA-1? (or it wasn't Nintendo published?)
Yep, MMX2-3 used the Capcom Cx4 chip (used for rendering triangles/wireframes and some sprite transform). They're the only chipped Capcom games too iirc (both Hudson and Seta also used Nintendo chips in addition to their own designs), not counting SFA2 (which was done more for Nintendo).MoxManiac said:Yeah didn't the later (or all) the Megaman X SNES games have chips?
jarrod said:List of Nintendo published SNES chipped games...
That we should have bold, megasize, underlined, and red (what's the code for this again?) attached to it or else it doesn't really matter. Also good news that more chipped games are coming? I know KDL3 had an ESRB leak, but hasn't been released yet so would this be the first?Iam Canadian said:Okay, Super Mario RPG is coming. So let's hope we get it soon.
