I love Graham Norton.

Just finished watching the episode on iPlayer, and it was really good. I presume there's a resolution next week?

A great episode, but that was too be expected from a Moffat/Angels ep. :D And I really liked the relationship between River and The Doctor, it makes a change from him having the upper hand for once.

Yep, it's a two parter.

Absolutely loved this episode. The angels are without doubt my favourite of the modern Who enemies, and the scene with Amy and the video screen was as good as anything in Blink.

Also, the Doctor impersonating the sound the TARDIS makes was inspired.

Generally haven't been a fan of any of the two parters so far though, so I'm not getting my hopes up for the second part.

Oh look, Moffat can still write embarrassingly good episodes.

Who'd have thought!

The set/props for this episode were excellent as well. There was loads of really interesting stuff that we only saw once. A good balance.

Thought devoting a thriller type episode to the angels wouldn't work, boy was I wrong!

Great episode. Nice to see the use of cliffhanger changing- instead of 'SHIT the doctor's done for', then next episode it being 'oh never mind, he had a very quick plan', we actually see his plan and see him kicking it off, with the beginning of the next episode being used to see if it actually works.

Good stuff!

Best episode of the season so far. Just makes last week's even worse in retrospect. Loving the younger, more teasing River Song. Bit of a shame with the overuse of music slightly ruining the mood towards the end, during the big twist reveal, but otherwise I have no complaints. Video-taped angel was incredibly creepy.

good ep. But didn't like how they expanded the Angel's powers to image projection and eye stuff. Prefered it simple.

isn't the fact that the angels aren't freezing despite the fact they can all see each other a huge plot hole. Wasn't that why they were mainly lone assassins? can't really have a big get together if you're all going to stay frozen forever.

It's pitch black inside the caves. Only reason we can see things is because of the torchlights Doctor and co are carrying.

Edit - to clarify, it is stated by the characters that this is the case. I know the way the whole thing has been lit and shot that it suggests otherwise, but we're just going to have to roll with that particular artistic licensing.

I guess the species is smart enough not to hide from its own kind, that would be silly. Its not like an animal which goes into a reflex, it seems smarter than that.

That's not what he's saying. They only move when it's pitch black, so they can't see each other either.

The ones in Blink were stopped by making them look at each other.

When the Doctor showed Rose the end of the world, he mentioned that it was "the year 5.5 slash apple slash 26" or 5 billion years in the future.

OK, I kind of had a theory before this series started that Amy Pond would turn out to be a young River Song. It was based on pretty much nothing (Pond and River both being water sources, both redheads and I've gotten an overactive imagination and decided that for River and the Doctor to have such a strongly developed bond he would have had to meet her at an early point in her life + they can't keep bringing Alex Kingston back as she is getting older).

But after watching tonight's episode and seeing the interaction between Amy and River I'm starting to believe the theory more myself. Does anyone else think it's possible or am I just being crazy? (Although apparently not as crazy as someone who thinks she might be his daughter)

Dunno... accent would have to change and river is a good couple of inches shorter than Amy if you want to be literally about it.

I loved it, best episode of the series so far. Like a lot of people, I was unsure of what more could be done with the Weeping Angels, but this ep was just as tense--if not more so--as Blink.

Looking forward to next week.

And now you've got me wondering how they, er, breed.

The only species in the multiverse where "Do you mind if I, er, turn the light off?" is a *GOOD* sign.

I thought they mentioned it the last time how they were remnants from the beginning of time and space plus the stuff later on in the episode one could assume that they don't breed they

She wasn't being converted, it was all in her head. A weeping angel was created from the video image so it seems they duplicate.

Fantastic stuff. Moffat is far more comfortable in the scary stuff in his writing. I liked the
decayed slow moving Zombie angels
- I'm sure they'll give little kids plenty to think about in bed tonight. :lol Next weeks looks amazing!! Can't wait.

Really enjoyed that. The exchanges between Matt and Karen on confidential were brilliant also.

Looking forward to next week.

Oh yeah, and did anyone else happen to spot this?

(For those that haven't seen the episode yet, it's two frames from the pre-credits sequence and rank very low on the spoilometer)

What exactly am I looking at? I don't get it.

NVM, yea wtf is he holding on to :lol

Assuming it's the same Angel from the
picture/video feed/etc that "becomes the image"
, then that Angel pictured there can't move because
it's still being stared at by the other Angels at the end of Blink.
:D

Quantum explanation/easy-way-out aside, there's still only one angel in the pic and there's nothing else around it.

Also, I guess there won't be an explanation for those handcuffs then,
other than the obvious explanation off course
.

Edit: Checking the episode again
there was no other angel around. Only that one
.

So the one thing I'm starting to notice about Moffat is that, while he writes brilliant and intricate stories that all tie together like a nice little bow, he really plays fast and loose with the science side of things. His episodes are riddled with scientific insanity.

The amazing and awesome thing is that he does everything else so right I just don't care.

This is Doctor Who.

That episode was fantastic. The first 2-parter of a season not to suck (well, assuming next week doesn't turn out bad)! Oh how i love the playful River Song/Doctor dynamic and Alex Kingston's performance. The production values also continue to put the RTD era to shame.

Moffat utilises time travel as a device so brilliantly. The opening was an exciting example of it.

Totally got Ring vibes from the angel projecting out of the screen. Creepy as hell. Nice little touch with Amy blinking each eye separately. Something people pointed out to Moffat in interviews and it didn't even occur to him.

I was so wrapped up in it that it went by too quickly. The week wait is going to be a bitch.

Really? the budget cuts look pretty apparent to me, not that it affects the overall quality of the episodes.
I think he's probably referring to the new scope of this series. From the cinematography to the art production; it's much more nuanced and realized than before. (at least I think so)

After last week's dissapointing episode, what a return to form. I love River's dynamic with the doctor. Her and Amy's instant bonding and teasing of the doctor was great.

And those damn Angels! :p Still manage to bring the scary. Some of those sequences were so tense and creepy.

When they were watching the security footage on the Home Box, River (up against the airlock) was giving out the coordinates and date (something-something-acorn-something) to help him find her.

The episodes in this series just seem to fly past so quickly compared to the other episodes of New Woo.

I felt like we were just hitting the 30 minute mark, and the episode ended. Both myself and my Dad who watched it with me just looked at each other, then checked the time. Good episode, but it didn't feel like a lot really happened.

Anyone else really love the Eleventh Doctor's theme? It's a lot more adrendaline-pumping, whereas Nine/Ten's theme was more melancholy.

Easy Peezy Lemon Squeezy!!! :D

The photo is an angel, it will move when not being looked at. It doesn't have the electric power or radiation of a monitor, so it cannot project itself out into the world. Therefore it is perfectly safe as long as you don't look directly into its eyes.

Simples!

That was surprisingly Classic Doctor Who in structure.

And as someone who hated Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead, I can unashamedly say that was awesome.

Speculation time:
The fluids from inside the gravity lantern thingy will fall onto them, making them float while the angels are grounded.

Don't try and rationalsie it out.

The Angels in Blink were written for that episode, with no plan of using them again. Moffat wanted to use them differently, so he did.

On the other hand, he may well explain it all next episode. We'll have to see.
