Wow. How did you do that so fast?

Wibbly wobbly... time-y wimey... stuff.

I made a few avatars a week or so back from this episode, but did not want to post them to spoil things for you

Thanks, mate. Obviously, this episode was fantastic. I've just watched 3 of the best episodes in the show, IMO. These three, Dalek, the Ood eps, The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances and School Reunion have been my favorites so far.

The Weeping Angels should be with the Cybermen and Daleks as returning foes.

Odd that one of the best episodes in the series had almost no Martha and very little of the actual Doctor. :lol

That light bulb scene was the best part of that episode. Next to the Statue coming right up to the dude as soon as he blinked or turned around, whatever he did.

I really need to go to England. :lol

Every shot from this that is set there makes me sort of sad that I'm not there.
...Seriously? I guess living here prevents me from seeing the magic.

Remember, after Utopia move right on to season 4. There's a silly myth that there was a 2 part finale, but don't believe it.

Personally, the Doctor, his companion and Jack are a perfect team. :lol

EDIT: Is the actor playing Professor Yana an old Doctor? He seems like he's either the Doctor from another time frame or something similar.

I think all of new who has been best when The Doctor has more than just one companion, with a few exceptions.

Oh, shit! That's where Jack's hand-in-a-jar comes from. Though, why was it so special that he was willing to let everybody in Torchwood die to protect it?

I keep forgetting your watching the series from such an unusual perspective.

Yeah, It's pretty important to him. :D

This is why you should start mixing in some Torchwood now.

Do they explain why?

Kind of, if I remember correctly,
He said he used the hand as a 'detector' to find the doctor when he came back

Not really a spoiler, but you are going to find out right about now anyway...

I think they did in this episode. You've probably already seen it.

He needed it to find the Doctor

Hermit's united.
:lol

Okay, but when does Torchwood fall in the continuity?

At this point I believe season 1 has happened. Maybe season 2 happens after the third season? I've never really tried to place them to tell you the truth.

Did season one end with Jack hearing the TARDIS landing? I can't remember.

Yeah, utopia starts off right after the ending of End of Days, the S1 finale.

In Torchwood the Doctor picks up Jack inside the torchwood hub yet in Utopia he's outside running towards the Tardis Bit weird they couldn't sort it out.

I ought to finish series 1. Unless they had a movie to launch Torchwood, they did a very poor job of connecting the shows.

Why is Jack in charge of Torchwood? Why is this massive agency now down to like, 6 people? Etc.

They probably answer the questions along the way, but watching Doctor Who with knowledge of that show leads to massive confusion as to how they connect.

"How long have you known?" KNOWN WHAT? Goddamn it. That he can't die for reasons they haven't explained?

EDIT: Well, they explained the what. Not the "how"
EDIT 2: Rose. Duh. I already knew that, but they made me doubt myself. Goddamn it. again.

They don't really go to great strides to explain or show the connections between the two series. The intention was to keep them separate and to have Torchwood be more adult. Too adult.

It was weird seeing the doctor play soccer, acting all chummy with that one stupid fat dude.

Ah well, okay Ep I guess.

...what is going on? He's a Time Lord but he wants to kill the Doctor for no particular reason? Huh?

That relationship is VERY complicated and goes way back to the UNIT days.
I'd say it's true love. :lol
