Official Fable II Thread

So what's with the collars that talk about magic using dogs and shit. Am I correct in assuming that's actually supposed to apply to the player?

They affect your character's appearance. Physique make your character bulk up, and one of the Skills makes you taller. I forgot which one.

This is just in the abilities screen tho right? There's not like a sub menu for changing your appearance?

Correct. If you level Physique a lot your character will get buff. A terrible look for the female characters though.

Thank god :lol I'm like 10 hours in and I was feeling embarassed when everyone was talking about getting their characters buff :D

Your guy looks sick, what weapon is that?
It's the Maelstrom. You get it after sacrificing your wife/husband + 3 monks at midnight in the temple of shadows. Not that great of a weapon but it looks cool. :D

JUST started playing today and I really love it :D

I only played about 2 and a half hours but got so sidetracked that I didn't even leave Bowerstone (after becoming an adult) :lol

Everyone should save right before the end of the game, that way you can pick all 3 endings. As soon as you see the achievement pop up just go back to dash and reload the game. Get all 3 endings and save the best ending for your final choice.

I'll just say that even though the Doll Catcher achievement is EVIL, I'm glad that it's so easy to get achievements from people. I got my 1000 points thanks to random people online. :)

Some thoughts on the Fable 2 world size. Weve been told that the size of the world is 10x larger than Fable 1. I really dont buy that. Id say its maybe 2 or 3 times the size. On the one hand Im kinda disappointed that they didnt go full open world like Oblivion.... and that first area you see - Bower Lake - kind of gives one the impression that they did. Another disappointment is that lack of continuity between the towns. In Oblivion as you crest a grasy hill to see a walled off town just beckoning to be explored, well I dont think theres a better feeling in RPGs to be honest. The Fable handles it is kind of disappointing. (Although I do realise there are technical issues here).

With that out of the way, I absolutely adore the amount of time they spent on secrets and exploration. Every larger area/structure has a decent amount of stuff to explore and secrets to find. And the beauty of that is it isnt initially noticeable that thats the case, and that is hugely satisfying.

But I think the lack of a world map and real time continuity between areas detracts a little from what is otherwise a masterpiece of a game.

My biggest gripe aside from the poor collision detection and the menu system is NO SNOW VILLAGE! There's Bowerstone in the very beginning of the game but that doesn't count and then there is the one cabin behind one of the demon doors. They gave us all these great enviorments to explore but forgot the standard mountain/snow village. FUCK!

That's where Fable 2: The Lost Chapters comes in.

But seriously, hopefully something like that will be DLC. I think I remember reading somewhere that DLC for the game could likely include new regions?

What's the reward for Charles and Grandmother?
if charles is alive. kinda let him died
That quest was really lame.
They don't give you a health bar for him and he just randomly dies as you're fighting shit. Then you're forced to get evil points because the game doesn't give you a choice whether or not you want to trick the grandmother.

I'd like to know what happens if
he doesn't die, too.

I hope they add some dog revive quest via dlc down the line. I picked the greater good so my dogs gone :(. Maybe Greater good can get a angel dog that only finds things and plays and evil choice can get a devil dog thats a really good fighter and steals from people.

I think Fable II is the first game where i would pay DLC for new outfits, which says a lot as I have not spent a penny on LIVE (they were pissing me off by overcharging us canucks)

You jknow how when you first go into fairfax tomb from the secret doorway in the library there is a small gate there that is locked?

Anyone know how to open that?

Ok this is becoming beyond a joke. I cannot find a farmers hat and strumpet skirt ANYWHERE so I can open theBrightwood demon door.

So frustrating.

When I sign on later tonight i'll check and see if I have those clothing items and if I do and you still havent found em I'll gift em to you.

I got the "yokel hat" in Oakfield and skirt in Bloodstone.

i am so fat!!

this game is so unforgiving. 1 pie and 1 beer and your fat as shit!

How else do you get rid of it? you can only buy 1 celery thing like every day, it takes forever :(

Most produce sellers have a flaccid celery and a crisp celery (well 2 diff types anyway.) Go to the prduce seller in bowermarket, fairfax, oakfield and theres one more.

Eacy celery does -5 fatness so it doesnt take too long.

So true. I actually ate some chocolate in real life earlier and looked down expecting to see the change.

Yeah, I've been playing way too much! :lol

what the fuck is wrong with the brightone demon door!!!?

Im wearing all the shit and have the appropriate hair/beard. Im wearing the tart skirt which is the strumpet skirt apparently.

Now the door is just looping through 3 different phrases. "I should have said silver cape etc" "No one in their right mind would wear those clothes etc" "All those other demon doors etc"

WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!

So what are Gaffers doing to get "The Dollcatcher" achievement? Are there certain players to ask for help? Are we going to organize a "pay it forward list" or pick some night this week and have everyone on GAF who wants the achievement pass the dolls along?
