Right, apparently I've got two STDs and the only one I've had unprotected sex with is my wife. Two!? She is so freaking dead. Stupid, slutty drain on my money!

Yeah. Apparently Fable is a diseased world. I only ever had sex PERIOD with my wife and I ended up with 2 STDs. Considering we had sex 3 times, that's remarkable.

Is there really no way to get The Completionist achievement (all expressions) without buying the Pub Games on XBLA? That's really shitty if true.

Yes - see a friend do it in co-op.

I guess female characters are immune from STDs since they're forced to have unprotected sex. I've had affairs all over the place and I remain STD free.

I married a hooker and a chaste upper class woman. Guess which one gave me the STD... :lol

I am about to beat the game...
but want to view all three endings without replaying. When is it safe to reload without some autosave forcing my decision? Is it possible to view all three choices in one play?

I finished the day Fallout 3 came out (thank goodness, that game consumes me).

But after I beat the game the only new quest was
buy Fairfax castle
. Was there supposed to be more?

I have about a million in real estate so I should have no problems getting the money to buy that last couple things I want
castle, garth's tower
after a couple weeks. But there's not much left to do other than playing find the silver key or gargoyle :(

I also maxed every skill before I beat the game. I was a little disappointed there was no achievement for that.

Oh and I didn't "die" once. I didn't even come close once I got a
ghoul augment
. That's way overpowered.

There is an achievement for maxing out your character and your dog. Was your dog maxed?

Yes, I did.

Yep. Dog maxxed too. I'm missing a couple expressions for my dog and myself. That's probably it.

I've read that you can reset while the credits are rolling and the autosave is right before the choice

I have a female character and the second time I did it with lolita the whore she gave me an std, damn her. But if they don't affect your character and it's just a stat then it sounds that the more stds you get, the more bragging rights you have.

Yeah, same here, my chick got stds from other girls as well.

Thinking of starting a family before I go off to the Spire - can anyone recommend me a wife who isn't a bitch and doesn't expect much in terms of a house and allowance. I am thinking a prostitute might be a good choice... :D

Honestly, I went with a gypsy. I just wanted a wife before the spire and didn't want to give up any of the rent from my properties so I grabbed the first gypsy I saw, moved her into my starter wagon, knocked her up and gave her TRIPLE her expected allowance of 10 gold - a whole 30 gold a day. I've since moved her into the poshest wagon in the camp and upped her allowance to 100 a day since I'm so wealthy. She's super low maintenance, I've never HAD to visit her to keep her happy.

Best wife ever.. except for the STDs. Whore cheated on me.

I went for Anna the jewellery stall owner in Bowerstone. We have a kid called Annette :lol

She's middle class but not snobby or anything, not too demanding, only requires 30 gold. I like the glasses and slightly better standard of clothing than the other common women.

she helped me pick out our house though which was pretty good, she had decent taste in houses.

I also bought out her stall for pretty cheap, she still works there and I get a little bit of profit from it.

end spoilers, impressions, fuming

No final boss? Really?
That was a huge letdown. I was just sitting there, Lucien is monologuing, and then fucking Reaver shoots him, and i get to make a choice. Previously, i was hunting bottles and kicking chickens as a child. What the hell kind of ending is that? I'm really disappointed, and I really want the opportunity to kill Reaver. The game was a lot of fun, but the ending just pissed me off. What better way to end an epic adventure than.. hitting beetles with a wooden sword? God dammit.

Why didn't you guys tell me being evil was so fun!? I murdered everyone in Bowerstone with my Master Clockwork Pistol and it was awesome. Obviously, that STD-infested wife was first. Went completely evil. Killed all my workers, stole everything and broke into people's houses so I could kill them in front of their children.

I need help.

Can someone please tell me how to do chained melee combos? I can't figure it out.

Dude, me either. I don't get it. I figured an on-screen button prompt would appear to show when to chain the attacks. I seeing nothing.

chain attacks arnt even useful in real combat. Basically, hit the attack button again once you've swung the weapon. If you've done it succesfully you will get a blue swip.

Yes the ending of this game was horrible. I went from enjoying the game it to hating it in a matter of minutes. I'm shocked there hasn't been more backlash about it.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I guess they were trying to bring things full circle and that would have worked if I fought a boss worth a damn, but
the spire shard
did not feel like a final boss to me. A rather anticlimatic ending to an otherwise great game.

I really don't like not being able to download demos and videos in the background as I play Fable 2. It's probably one of my only complaints. Even if you have Orbs turned off it still doesn't let you.

I did too. Fable II was basically a story of revenge, so I liked the way it ended.

Question for those who have beaten the game...

I am at the part where you are traveling with Hammer, fighting the Balverines before you get to Westcliffe. How far along would you say I am in the main storyline? 25%? 33%? 50%?

Thanks

Thanks, guys. I was warping to Hobbe Cave but I didn't realize that the door led outside to the beach. I thought it was at the top so I kept going through to the other end and coming out at the top and thinking there was an exit I was missing. D'OH!

Anyways..
Last Gargoyle smashed. I travelled to the Trove and activated the last bridge. Walked across and opened the chest. A ROTTEN APPLE! And a laughing Gargoyle. Noticed the wall behind it and smashed through. Found the awesome Crossbow already equipped with some good augments. Kick ass! Too bad I'm at the end of my game though.

Also, while looking for the Gargoyle, I found Gemstone Grotto and discovered my Archaeology quest is not broken.
Damn good fun. I still have a few things to keep doing.

So, is there a way to send myself the good items when I start a new character? Or will I need a third party to transfer them to myself. I want to send myself my good weapons at least.

i would say 35% of the main-quest.

I'll help you with the transfer of items, potions, gold, etc. if you do the same for me. I've got about 8 silver keys I still want to find, and finally knock out the shooting range before I start a new character.

With the quest Rescuing Charlie, how do I get the hallow men to kill him? As I am typing this I have 9 hallow men beating on him and I don't think hes gonna die anytime soon =(

I still have a whole bunch of keys I'd need to find too. The list on the map page helps a little, but it doesn't really. One of them actually says I found 7 out of 6. WTF does that mean? I heard there are 51 and not 50. But is that the extra one I found? I'll have to get a list and go through it like I did for the Gargoyles. It's like the only thing I have left to do with this character aside from even trying to beat the Crucible record.

Also... this
Gargoyle's Crossbow
fucking rocks. I must have it with my next character. I find I use Ranged weapons more than Melee or Will. I have one final level of Speed to upgrade before I've maxxed everything not spell related. (I'm not really a fan of having to charge my spells to get the full power. I want my Level 5 spell to be done RIGHT AWAY GOD DAMMIT! Not 20 seconds from now when it's done charging after I've been hit and lost a lot of HP because of the enemies beating th shit out of me.)

regarding silver keys:

i have an area where i have 7/6 keys. i think it's wraithmarsh, but i'm at work and can't check it. i ended up getting 3 within like 2 minutes of each other as there were two at the end of the mansion -- one in the last coffin and one in a chest at the end and then one right after i exit and before the jump down.
is this supposed to be the case or is this a bug?

I think there are 51 keys. Is there a list somewhere? Maybe I should do that. I spent two hours last night trying to find the last one in Bloodstone. Do you happen to know if there would be any in areas we cant get to anymore?
The Sinkhole and Reaver's Rear Passage (heh) are partially collapsed now

The combat is pretty easy already, and the level 5 spells are so devastating that I don't mind that they restrict them a little bit by requiring that they be charged. If you're having issues with it, cast Time Control 1st, then charge your level 5 spell. I have TC set as my level 1 spell, and Inferno as a level 5. Casting TC first really limits the damage you would otherwise take from charging a level 5 spell.

Well, finally got 1000/1000. I also just finished up all the remaining end-game sidequests, it was fun while it lasted and I kinda wish there were more.... but damn that was a blast. I played Pure/Good all throughout the main quest and then afterwords became Corrupt/Evil. So now I got crazy long horns and green eyes. :P

I've been here before in the topic but I thought the ending was great.
It would of been stupid to make Lucien transform into some big retarded demon or some such, the ending was perfect for the game. Lucien only has technology and ancient rituals on his side, hence the shard and the final trap were his last ditch attempts to gain the ultimate power. After that's gone all he is, is a man with a pistol. I'd only praise Lionhead for not ending the game with an elaborate end boss, cementing how powerless the people of the world are in comparison to it's heroes and old magic.

Why I felt the ending was crap (spoiler discussion including references to Final Fantasy 7):

I can agree somewhat that the scenes in it are meant to project ironic revenge, a life for a life; a pistol shot for a pistol shot. That is no excuse to can an entire segment of game play. This scene can very well take place if Lucien morphed into a golden dragon/arch-demon for a satisfying brawl. I will argue that should such a grandiose fight occur it enhances the story by showing off Lucien's admirable command of Will and resolve to defy fate. It can also serve the purpose of rewarding the player for the journey, and not simply insult his efforts at the long trek by giving him a half-baked climax.

Last I checked when I fought a giant Shard Garth was opening a gate. What indication - if any - was there to differentiate the giant Shard at the Cullis Gate and giant Shard at Smuggler's Beach? The fact that the giant Shard at Smuggler's Beach can shoot a large laser beam and the one at Cullis Gate can't? Aren't last bosses supposed to be unique in looks, purpose and art direction?

It was clearly stated that Lucien and Garth are both Will users who respected each other's academic powers and while it was Garth who introduced Lucien to the Ancients, it was Lucien whose sheer intellect gave him exponential comprehension of the Ancients' Artifacts, one of in which is the Tattered Spire, home to the secret(s?) of immortality. It has been repeated several times that Lucien dabbles in alchemy as well, so why are all his superior and vast knowledge not put to use for personal defenses? He isn't simply a rich fuck who buys talent to do this dirty work - he IS a talent himself.

Further, the foreshadowing to build up his back story on his personal tragedy was overwritten by 2 lines from Garth, "oh you know how it is. First he wants to bring his family back, but as he gets more power he gets more ambitious." From Lucien's diaries, we know he is jealous of the layman who has a happy family. We can further conclude Lucien's desire for one is his motive to seek immortality. However, is Lucien's jealousy of the common folks' happiness truly the cause of his actions, or is it as Garth puts it in such a summarized manner, a misguided attempt at power after tasting parts of the forbidden fruits? Where is the exposition for this?

I have gone through 17 of Lucien's diaries, and I must say it is a waste for such a decent voice-acted script to be given an anti-climax. In the end, Fable II's main quest borrows all the wrong things from the jrpg genre - a megalomaniac with a tragic past seeking to reshape the world in his own twisted vision as an antagonist. Oh hi Britain's answer to Sephiroth, how ARE you?

Finally, the 3 "choices" given at the end aren't really tests of values. From a pragmatic point, everyone wants the dog, for he's the only clue to finding buried treasures without losing your sanity in some of the postgame quests, and more importantly a tool to fully experiencing the game. From a roleplay perspective, this self-serving justification is one an evil character will take, "fuck the world, I need my dog to find buried treasure! Too bad for you weak folks!" An evil character who is smart will not choose money over the dog when he can exploit the proletarians for easy cash by raising rent and prices. A good character will not choose money either, for his noble self will value lives over material gains.

If there is a conflict of values, it is merely a shallow one of society vs. family. Fable II's cutscens focuses so much on the Hero's life being a parallel to Lucien's tragedy that it will result in the same path. Did the game go out of its way to make you feel attached to the common folks of Albion? If anything the game tells you that people of Albion who are in bliss care not for your personal tragedies. In fact, to prevent such tragedies from happening it is best to erase all roots of jealousy, hence if the Hero has a happy family he will not turn into another Lucien.

So how is the player coerced into thinking that these are "tough choices", when all roads point to one clear path?

That's my take on Fable II's ending, and why I hold that it is the lowest point in the game.
