Official Fable II Thread

I finished the game a few days ago.

At the end,
I chose to save all the dead people as I was going for 100 good.

I have never been more depressed as when I came back and I didn't have my dog.

Fuck you Lionhead. I want my doggie back.

I guess that is when you say, Dammit! Molyneux did what he intended. Sigh. I'll have to create a new character now.

So how far along the main quest am I? Just beat the Crucible. I get the sense that the game is getting read to do another "era jump", since they're telling me to finish my side quests before starting the Spire. Am I guessing right?

Maybe half way, the Spire quest you are about to face is a 'long one' (you'll see what I mean) so the game is just giving you an oppurtunity to tie up any loose ends before you head off. But don't worry, there are new quests, areas and sub-quests to face on your return. Still a bit of life left in the game.

That's funny about the community service. I also never feel like it's punishment at all in this game. Whenever that option comes up I just think "sweet! more fighting." The combat is addictive and excellent in so many ways, especially when it comes to the tactile feedback (which you noted) and the brilliant particle effects when you're unleashing spells and such.
Yeah it really feels like a reward. The actual work - chopping wood, etc - feels like work. If I had to do that for twenty minutes after each spree, it would be real punishment. As is I'm like, yay, more experience!

I discovered last night that the Community Service quest keeps track of all the service you do, as if each episode was a separate step in a long quest. I've....I've done a lot of community service.

My favorite was going to rescue a caravan from marauding Hobbes. I killed the Hobbes - then slaughtered everyone in the caravan. They fled into their wagons, so I just went around the big circle and plugged each of them in turn as they cowered in the back. In my Renown stat, it lists me as being "adored" or whatever the highest level is there. :lol

You should really invest in Westcliff before you go to the spire. (you'll see the quest for that on the quests page).

Combat is a lot of fun but targeting with the gun kinda sucks. Lock on is just off sometimes and pressing L to lock on and it not catch your target takes you out of the reticule shooting which really breaks the flow of combat and oft causes me to get smacked around till I can start the process over.

My only real issue with the combat is that I'm a heavy Will user, and switching between different spells in combat is not as easy and effective as it could be. The biggest problem with it is that you can't move while changing them. They should've given you the ability to move and use the right analog (instead of the d-pad) to switch spells while the spell menu is up, and then go back to controlling the camera when it isn't. That would've given you the freedom to move away from enemies while changing your spells more easily with the right analog, and losing camera control for a few seconds is not a big deal.

Yeah, it's pretty cool how the community service also scales to whatever your crimes are. I recently did that quest where you can
murder everyone in Oakfield for the Temple of Shadows
, and I ended up with 32x murder, 1x attempted murder (somehow), and something like 5x vandalism, so they had me fight some balverines in community service.

I just checked my email. got my LE Code even though I already had it when I bought the game :lol [Already gave it away though]

Thanks Microsoft.

Yup, that's exactly where I am right now. I just got done with that CS quest. And along the way, picked up all the
pieces of the Assassin message and took out the ringleader. Woo!

Good stuff.

So.........the end was really surprising. The ending itself was lame and it presented more questions than answers. There will most definitely be some kind of expansion unless they just want the story to end abruptly. But yeah, I'm pretty shocked.

I got my code even though I never purchased the LE version of Fable II, so I'm going to give the code away soon (don't PM me, I'm going to give it away in the XBL codes thread).

I just beat the game.
did I really kill the final boss in one hit? Good thing I was playing for the game, and not for the end game, I really didn't mind. I chose the dog ending even though I was going for full evil the whole game. That dog is just too cute, I can't stand to play the game without him. But yeah, really, final boss one hit? Did that really happen? I'm talking about firing my gun at Lucien in the spire after he tries to suck the energy of my comrades. Overall, I loved the game, thought the combat was great. I'll probably play some more later, my money is increasing as I type anyway. Still got a few quests to do. Loved the demon doors, especially the snow one, and the "terra cotta" soldiers one. Just a very fun game overall.

I chose the needs of the many ending and my wife and dog are now dead, I'm too bummed out to continue playing with that character now :(

Can you have multiple characters for playthroughs or do I have to overwrite it? :(

I just got an email, LE stuff but I dont even remember applying for it and I didnt get the LE.. I feel sorry for the people who got mugged off buying the LE for more cash when all they got was a making of DVD. Piss poor from MS.

You can have up to six separate characters.

Man I burned through this game so fast, thank God I had Fallout 3 on the rebound. Either I had a lot of fun with this game that I didn't notice the time went by or this game was shorter than I was expecting.

At any rate don't start eating pies and cross-dressing, it went bad so fast I didn't even realize what had happened. :lol

So the code didn't work for me.

Went to the guild cave and stood beside the chest. Used Save and Exit. Quit to the Dashboard. Entered the code and downloaded the 108kb key. Loaded the game back up and I was still in the chest. Tried opening the chest and I got the "Visit www.fable2.com" message.

Anyone have any luck? Will this content only be available when you first open the chest? It seemed like the way they tried to make this work is that everyone would get it, even if they had already opened the chest.

still waiting for my patch to fix my hero with all my money :( Though my other hero I've been playing since is kinda fun, pure will user, just takes some time to kill thingys

I'm pretty far into the game, probably near the end, and I've done a lot of side quests and bought up much of the real estate.

Something that's been bothering me is the blurry graphics. It seems like everything is always blurring, and it gives me a headache. This game doesn't look very good graphically IMO, especially compared to other RPGs on Xbox 360. I still like the game though.

Finally beat it and unlocked 865 achievement points worth of stuff. Took me 38 hours if that seconds counter is to be trusted. Loved it. Soooo much to do. I still havent done all the quests and everything. I see i could spend at least another 5 hours finding the rest of the stuff. I love how they actually took the effort to add substantial stuff after you beat the game, like new quests and places to buy, and even randomly generated quests you can do forever. They really thought of everything. From a design standpoint its brilliant how everything works together. No other RPG does stuff like this one does.

I think its great they finally delivered on the idea of being able to change the world. Some places really do change, and beyond the major changes its always constantly changing with the economy system. The family aspect was surprisingly good. I love how they integrate it into the main story and how they even have a quest for it (family is optional as far as i know). I love how my kids complain about their food at the dinner table haha.
im curious to see if i set Castle Fairfax as a marital home if the kids will eat in the giant dining room. I know i had issues with brightwood tower as a home. My wife never actually stayed there she wandered on the outside road to the tower. I like how you can still make them marital homes at least.

The dog was also fantastic. Amazing animation and about 99% of the time he wasnt annoying. He is really useful too. Probably the best companion AI in a game ever maybe besides ICO.

I also liked how the humor is actually funny. It isnt one of those games that "tries" to be funny, since it actually is. There are a lot of funny references to the first fable also which is great.

Anyway there were a few negative things i think they need to improve. The controls felt a little too heavy at times. I felt like i had to fight to change position, especially when swimming. I dont like the bugs. There are a few that prevents some features for me like buying furniture at a certain store and also i had one bug where my character was stuck in a permanent floating animation and i had to restart to an old save. Also i would have like the ending scenarios to be just a little bit more epic.

I would personally give the game a 9.5 and i look forward to any dl content coming. Its the best rpg this year, even better than Fallout imo. Definitely goty nominee.

Help. Apparently my daughter is "broken". Doesn't move, doesn't react. Only thing that gets the <3 up is gifts. Moving to another house doesn't help, she just stands at the entrance of that one instead.

It's a pretty common bug. It's been mentioned a few times in here, and it happened to my first kid as well. Nothing you can do but check back on your family regularly, as it can randomly fix itself -- no rhyme or reason behind it, as far as I can tell.

Ok, thanks for the info, wasn't aware of this, as I didn't want to search on google or something, because I was afraid to run into spoilers. ;)

Fortunately the mood doesn't change much and gifts still have an effect on the kid.

I'm about to start this game (seems like good timing with installs just around the corner) and I was wondering: since this is a game about choices and character development etc: are there any achievements that you won't be able to get on your first playthrough because of that? I'm not going to look at the list yet so I don't get spoiled too much, but I just want to know how they handle those choices achievement wise

not to spoil anything but you have three choices at the end of the game and you get an achievement for whichever choice you make

but you can save choose one path, quit to dashboard after achievement unlock then do it again

Whats funny is that I entered my info for LE DLC, and they sent me a code even though I have the standard version. Guess they really had no way of checking.

Anyway, im gonna wait till the 19th to start playing Fable II again.

For some reason I can't access the LE stuff I've just downloaded.

First, I downloaded the 108k file but my save wasn't in the Guild Cave. Then I tried saving in the cave, redownloaded the file and started my game again only to have the chest telling me to check Fable2.com for more stuff about how to fill the chest.

Help?

The game seems a lot glitchier in co-op mode. My daughter and I just finished an Archaeologist quest - the piece in the Graveyard - and went back to her. The breadcrumb trail leads to her, the big glowing circle is there, but when we to her the circle disappears and she just stands there. We don't have the option of giving the piece back. I've reloaded several times, dropped the second player and left the area to try again over and over but nothing happens.

Anyone run into this? It's the last thing she has to do before joining up at The Spire, and my daughter is really bummed it's glitched out on her. :(

So I fire up the game for the first time in about 2 weeks and while the game is still on the initial load screen I get a notification for The Extremist achievement. wtf just happened?

You get good/evil points for your pricing on shops/houses. They accumulate just like money does while the game is off.

Completed, awesome game, technical nightmare.
Couldn't get enough of the art style.

What up with the no-ending-at-all?

Yeah, that sucked, but I'm hoping for some cool DLC.

Btw, what'd you choose, Love, Sacrifice or Greed?

Finished this last night. I went with Sacrifice, so there had better be a DLC release that lets me
bring back Dog
. The twist of the knife was when I got back to Oakfield with my renown through the roof and this guy walks up and offers me a gift; it was
a dog collar :(
.

Also,
Barnum at least deserves a monument in the new Westcliff. I can't believe they offed him like that; it felt like an episode of The Wire or something
.

Love.
I didn't feel too bad about it, seeing as all those people died anyway. If it was to save living people the choice is much easier. It's not MY fault all those people died building the tower - it's Lucien's. I already avenged them by killing him and saving the world. However, it IS my fault my family was murdered... considering they were killed to hurt me directly and end the bloodline. And I already lost my family once, with my parents and sister, I wasn't about to lose another one. In the end I didn't think the choice was too hard.

But what was the impact anyway? None that I saw, considering the game literally has no ending whatsoever.

I know what you mean. Too bad about the slowdown though.
I never ran into any down there, aside from the deliberate cuts to the slow-mo power attacks. The only slowdown I've run into is during high level area spells when there's tons of enemies; if you used those down there then yeah, that would slow to a crawl. I was having so much fun tearing through with my meat cleaver I never bothered with a spell.

Finished the game last week, I'm going on a treasurehunting and Gargoyle-shooting rampage soon. Thing is, I feel as if I've already seen all of Albion there is to see, anyone got any tips on where to start?

I found a Demon Door that (post game spoilers)
lets you bring back the ghost of your Dog to open it. If you opened it before finishing then the ghost dog will appear inside the door I'll bet as it did for me. Just rammed home the fact that I can't complete the archaeologist and some of the other bits without my trusty gundog beside me. That said i'd settle for a new quest that allows me to have a ghost dog companion instead for the whole game. It does seem that the most noble of endings gets a raw deal when it comes to continued play time
.

Will start an evil play through once I get bored of my current titles.

I've been hooked on this game since I started yesterday. I don't know what the general consensus is in this thread but so far I think this game delivers. It's one of those titles that pretty much anyone can play and have a good time in. I've never played the first game so I thought I'd be going into some in depth rpg stuff, but this game feels more like how I'd want a modern Zelda game to be. I'm having such a good time with it
