Hehe is that the Pray version of the Prelude theme I can hear in the Siliconera site?

:D :D :D

Definitely the superior version of it. I will forever kiss the ground Sakimoto walks upon.

Yeah, hopefully Blimblim can mirror your vids because Youtube is horrid (and hopefully we get a full-res mpeg soon.).
A very good quality version will be available as soon as possible.

Tomorrow cannot come anytime sooner. It'll be so good to watch that intro again on my TV. I've got damn goosebumps and I haven't had that feeling in years for gaming.

Excellent.

I wonder if this game will get something like a "FFXII+Last Mission" for the PS3 with all the movies in 1080p...

dayum, that was fucking epic, like FFXI CG intro epic. It kind of reminds me of Star Wars a little bit for some reason too.

Ok somebody needs to rip that intro in the highest possible resolution. Fucking awesome.

So well paced and edited, and the music....I can understand the "Star Wars" comment based on the intro though.

When you buy the game, the store gives you an iTunes card for free which allows you to DL 5 songs from the album. I'm going to do that later on..

Really? Would there be any chance of throwing them up online if it's possible and if don't mind? :)

When is this coming to NA? Thanks for impressions people! The game looks awesome. I want the Japanese version so bad but I can't read Japanese :(

Cool! I hope it comes out in May or early June and not late August. In the past Square has released games at the end of summer just before back to school >:(

Got it (Asian version) today, played 20 minutes but had only used the controller for less than 1 minute (except pressing O), ha ha !

FMV cut scenes can be skipped, in-game cut scene can be paused and skipped.

Shit, are those the only options available, mask? Someone mentioned that the game supported 16:9 a while ago, but that is clearly not the case. That really really sucks. :(

I really didn't want to be stuck in a 4:3 window the entire time. :\

No 16:9.

Dragon Quest VIII's 16:9 support has spoiled us all.

Actually, I wouldn't mind 4:3 so much if my Samsung HDTV's side bars were black instead of light gray.

Something I got from GameFAQs. Apparently its a tutorial for the license system. Too bad I don't read Japanese so I don't really know what it says or how indepth it goes. The board looks like it can be pretty big though.

Link: http://ffland.ktdom.com/board/zboar...n&sc=on&select_arrange=headnum&desc=asc&no=25

Also, that page is in Korean... :)

I'm not expecting my copy of FFXII to turn up for a while but I'm definitely looking forward to it a lot. Cheers duckroll and co for the awesome Wiki!

That tutorial is in game.

In fact, thus far
every character has the same layout for the board, they just each start a few block away from each other
. I personally don't see why you need to be very careful in planning the path since at the beginning [spiler]everyone starts out in the same area of the board[/spoiler]. You can always kill a bunch of enemies to get enough LP to fix your mistake.

It's probably exactly because each character starts "clean" that you need to plan carefully. You would want a well rounded party, and it would take forever to build the entire party to know everything. Not everyone is a levelspam player, some of us like to play character builds carefully. :D

No way am I watching any movies on this until I have it in my hands, but I'm glad to hear that it is something cool.

I've stayed in the dark on most aspects of the game for this long and it is paying off. This is going to rock.

I did take a look at that Korean page, though, and read over the screenshots. I'm not concerned with spoiling a tutorial. :P That just means I can brush over it later.

For those who have started playing the game:

In the intro, it starts with "Year 706 Old Valendian", but later on when you play as Vaan it says "Year 706 Old Valendian, Two years after the fall of Dalmasca". Is there a terrible continuity typo SOMEWHERE or is it explained? ^^;;

When you first begin the game, you are playing as Vann's brother, during the event of the fall of Dalmasca

Then shouldn't it be "Year 708 Old Valendian, Two years after the fall of Dalmasca" rathan than 706?

:lol
I had thought the colour of enemies' life bars indicated their toughness, so I went after the mini-rex. It raped me and I turned off the game.
I'm now confused as to what I'm supposed to do,
it seems I need to hunt for that tomato-face-with-big-teeth guy, but I don't know how to trigger its spawning. I'm assuming I need to clear the area of certain monsters, similar to what we had to do in the playable demo.
. Anyway, I echo Troid's and Srider's sentiments, the game is huge and quite lovely aside from being a bit of a jag-fest. Now, if only I had a clue as to what was going on...

question: is Matsuno credited, if yes as what?

I can't read Japanese so I couldn't tell you but the story reeks of FFT and it smells good. :D

What, are those ingame screens? :/

Crazy Ps2. Does it have hidden powers or something. It looks too good.

Funny thing is that those screens don't even nearly do it justice. ;)

Played about half hour before work today. The game starts off very nicely as mentioned. It's funny how I keep trying to press L1 for auto-run and click in R3 for locking/unlocking camera during battle. :lol I'm debating if I should play through because there seem to be a lot of story and I can't understand it 100%...

It's the same approach to character modelling that they used for Vagrant Story: low polygon models but with really good, detailed texturing. And you can see that they're also cheating a bit in cut-scenes by only drawing 2/3 of the screen (see how the subtitles are in a black bar at the bottom of the screen and there's a slight black bar at the top too). But frankly who cares how they manage it, because it looks pretty great for a current generation title.

Oh my god. That prelude intro gave me goosebumps!

...and Hey! What's up with the pictures? I thought there was going to be no pictures in this thread for us that don't want to be spoiled?

Yes, he is credited as Original Concept by/Original Plot by/Project Supervisor.
And his name appears solo too, along with Yoshitaka Amano and Sakimoto, so I think they gave him a lot of credit for it despite his leave.

Actually it says Scenario Plot. The difference is important because Original Plot would suggest that the game's scenario is merely based on his original plot, while Scenario Plot means he laid out the entire story and details for the scenario writers (Daisuke Watanabe and Miwa Shoda) to write the actual script.

There are several key credits in the opening (they appear in the middle of the screen as opposed to the bottom right):

Music Composition - Hiroshi Sakimoto

Image Illustration - Yoshitaka Amano

Character Design - Akihiko Yoshida

Original Work/Scenario Plot/Supervision - Yasumi Matsuno

Director - Hiroyuki Itou , Hiroshi Minagawa

This shows that the core staff in FFXII has never changed, which is a very good sign. Minagawa is also credited seperately for Game Visual Director. The event director is Jun Akiyama which explains why all the cutscenes are so goddamn awesome. :D

I'm only going to say two things for now:

1. The graphics in this game are better than anything I've ever seen in my life. The visuals completely destroy every X360 game I own and show that tech doesn't make the world go round. I wonder how many years will pass until a game finally appears next-gen that tops these visuals.

2. Best game ever...and I'm not even slightly joking. Me and duckroll have had faith the entire time that FFXII would indeed be the greatest game ever made, we never wavered, and in the end we were right.

BB in a few days.

I cannot wait. Ever since Square's Millennium Conference when it was announced Matsuno was the head of FFXII, I knew that would be the one FF to look forward to the most. Really glad to see I wasn't wrong. :D

Where are the damn pictures of thousands of Japanese lining up for this game? Those pictures are so memorable! I still remember the FF8 launch pictures! Pure awesomisity!

I'm stuck with the "Tomato Man" hunt ,i don't know where to go.Any advices fellow japanese Gaffers ?
