Are you getting this tomorrow? What version? Are you waiting for the 360 version?

Does anyone know any reason why I should wait for the 360 version?
 
wait, the game comes out tomorrow? for a game which is apparently supposed to be bigger than GTA, the publishers ain't giving me much hope here.

edit: I saw alot of commercials for it this last weekend (I think the GF was watching MTV or some crap while I played my PSP on the couch)

Eh, not really...

It doesn't seem to be improved much (if at all) on 360. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken 'cause I haven't been comparing the versions. If you're really interested you should get it now, at the very least you'll be saving yourself $10.

I'm gonna wait for the 360 version, but I probably won't be picking it up at launch even then.
 
I literally found out about this game over the weekend when I saw one of the commercials. Is it supposed to be any good?

Open-ended GTA-like Western game.

Do you need any more incentive?
 
Im getting GUN on the Gamecube, I would of bought it to but since Im getting a Review Copy its even better. :D

I hope it plays all right. Westerns are cool :lol
 
If its good ill be picking up the 360 version on the 22nd. Yea yea I know it hardly looks any better but if I have the best system ATM, beats playing it on xbox, even if it is a rip off for a port.

Also $25 fucking cheaper. Fucking gouging Activision.

Seriously, don't support Activision on 360. The graphical upgrades are minimal. Save yourself $10 or so and get this an the new THAW on a present day console.
 
I would like to wait for the 360 version but I'm just too excited for this game. I need a new game to play. NOW!!

in that case, i'll just wait for Gun 2, 3, 4, 5, or Gun: Wild West Wasteland.
 
Anyone get this game yet?

They had a preview with the games producer on Attack of the Show as I fllpped it on. I thought the game shown was the XBox version and when he said it was the X360 version I had a hard time believing it. It didn't even seem like the producer even wanted to talk about the X360 version.
 
I'm playing it right now and so far it's awesome. I don't know if the length is gonna hurt it that badly yet of course. But the first hour freakin ROCKS!!!

Head shots for daze. There is not a whole lot better than taking a guys scalp off with your 6 shooter. :D
 
There were large screenshots in the recent Gamepro of the 360 version and it looked like ass. The model used for the actual gun looked like it was made out of clay. For a game called GUN you'd think the actual gun you use would look pretty, especially on the 360.
I hope the game turns out okay though.
 
WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH MY COMPUTER!

I'm actually really really enjoying 'gun' - it looks pretty, especially for a 'streaming-world' game ... and in terms of art-direction is only a few notches below Colossus -
So far the game has been good fun, and feels good to play an adventure/action game of historical relavance and not just "Here's a Western game, and here's some vampires too! YAY WE'RE CREATIVE!!!"
Everything has felt as convincing as a good Western, which is great.

Now I thought that Half Life 2 is all I had to worry about stuttering with my comp ---- no, Valve never fixed that ..... but now in GUN, whenever I enter a new area I can get stutters up to a few seconds long as information is streamed in ---- this sucks since many fights span across the entire map, and a stutter throws my aim in all sorts of directions....

I'm on an AMD Athlon XP2600+ ---- 2 GHz ----- 1.3 Gig of RAM ---- Windows XP
My videocard is a Radion X800 .....

Like Half Life, the game runs buttery smooth on the highest settings, constant framerates ... but when it comes to loading new information both these games stutter out the wazoooo....

I might have to go with a console version of GUN soon.
 
Received my review copy yesterday (Xbox), but had time to play only the introductory-tutorial part. From what I've seen, it seems veeeeery nice: good sharp and clean gfx, nice shooting gameplay, great cutscenes. And from the start it feels like being in a real frontier-western contest: I didn't like much Red Dead Revolver, i found it too much gunslinger-related, if you understand what I mean. Here it seems to be more about exploring and discovering the wild west.

I hope to play more of it during the weekend, but so far I'm quite positive about it.
 
I call "bs" on the fact that you guys are actually enjoying Gun. Gamespot gave the Ps2 version a 7.4. A... seven.... point... four!

Having never played the game at all and totally trusting Gamespot reviews... this game = "crap" and "shit" according to people in the other post. [/GAF Logic].

(We now turn back in to the "Thinking for Yourself" Channel)

I can't wait to pick up the 360 version. :D
 
I tried the first level and a half on Xbox last night and it was quite fun. Nice smooth graphics and interface (I like the flaglike blood :lol ). It didn't feel large like a GTA game, but the mechanics seemed pretty nice and friendly to the player. And there are side missions that are fun, etc. I could see it ending pretty fast but the set pieces are genuinely fun so...hopefully you can replay areas for score or something.
 
I really can't wait to get home and play this tonight.
I did my first showdown last night and I can't get it outta my head. So much fun.

I haven't been able to shoot a guys leg off though. I thought I had seen that in a preview video. I did notice that when you shoot a guy that is holding a stick of dynamite he blows up real nice and there are all kinds of chunks left lying around afterwards. :D
 
i played the ps2 pal version of the game:

the good:

- john wanye western flair
- good english voice acting
- good music
- nice targeting system
- nice visual style
- nice horse riding

the bad:

- many minigames
- no manual clothing changing

the ugly:

- streaming tech not the best, game often slows down
- in comparsion with the huge gta san andreas world, it feels something small
- stupid tutorial (colton is already a man and cant ride???)
- no blood in the german version :(

I was really hoping I could take a guys leg off thoug. I know that sounds sick but that's one of my hopes in the next gen of gaming. We now have destructable environments. We need destructable people.
I was hoping to be able to shoot a guy in the hand to take his gun out and blow his hand off. I have noticed that sometimes when you shoot a guy in the crotch he grabs himself and winces over. :lol
 
It's funny they removed the blood, because in knife fights for instance, there is such a copious amount of blood that it blows around the screen like a chinese parade flag.
 
I almost bought this for GCN today but I think i'm going to wait for the 360 version. I like the idea of a gritty and dirty Western with open-ended gameplay.
 
Picked up the game today. Like a lot, and the voice cast is awesome.

I mean, Kris Kristofferson us your character's dad in the beginning. That's awesome.

yeah, but afterall, i dont miss it. its like in gta games, when you have it, its nice, but when there is no blood and no limbos to shoot of, its no loss. besides, in most western movies, there is no blood too.
 
This game definitely has a fantastic foundation for a sequel, but as for now it's half-assed. The towns are pretty pathetic, the gun combat is actually quite weak (run 'n shoot, everyone needs many bullets before they die, really no skill to it at all) and the sound effects are poor (pop guns). Environments are pretty nice, but sadly, the world is not that big at all and it has a ton of invisible walls (lame!!!).

Granted, these are only 3 hour impressions, but so far Red Dead Revolver is quite a bit better, IMO.
 
ok, i am at the final boss fight and neversoft did it all wrong. the whole game was easy, but this fight is just horrable! tzhank you neversoft, for making a good game at the end really worse.

Headshots are almost always one shot kills. The whole skill quotient is in getting nothing but headshots which recharges your quick draw meter.

I kind of like it. Not a lot, but it's not as dissapointing as I thought it would be so far. It's not open like GTA with tons going on, but I like riding the horse through the canyons looking for gold, etc. And the mini games aren't too bad, though repetitive. I liked the poker playing, finding wanted posters, etc. The gunplay isn't quite as visceral as RDR, but it's a lot more polished with nicer graphics too.

By no means a great game, but I don't find it offensive so far.

I can't comment specifically on GUN since I haven't played it, but realistic, authentic sounds don't necessarily make good videogame sounds. It's far more important to be satisfying than accurate, IMO.

Gee the most I've had to shoot a guy is 3 times and that is with my rifle. I'm gettnig headshots galore in this game. The quickdraw is very nice. I can't wait to get dual pistols.

I'm about 35% of the way through and still loving every minute of it. The only thing I've come across that is confusing is when I talk to the Hunter to do the side missons with him he tells me to kill the wolves and when I go kill them all nothing happens. Kinda lost with that one.

Can you get a bow someplace? I've found gray wolf as well, but I have no bow.
