Of COURSE I stopped watching at the end of the second period. I'll watch the replay tonight but it was a fairly dull game for most of the first half. Stupid Cubs game lured me away.

I havent been watching this tourny... but i was really suprised at how many Fins were missing from the team. The only real "star" on that team Oli Jokinen. TEEMU WHERE ARE YOUUU??

No wonder they got waxed by Sweden. It probably wont be pretty when they play Canada.

yeah...MIA.... Teemu, Saku, Kipper, Teppo Numminen, Jere Lehtinen, BERG...heh. But I would say Kimmo Timonen is a star, or atleast one of the most underrated players in NHL. He was selected to the ALL-STAR lineup in last world cup.

God dammit
2 good games today and theyre on at the same time. Doesn't look like TSN is going to show the Slovak/Czech game.

Oh well
Atleast I finally get to watch Canada play a worthy opponent.
:D

Sweden vs Canada soon. I can't wait! Watch Henrik Lundqvist our promesing young goalie.

Go Sweden :)

So what is it about international hockey that makes it (IMO) more watchable than NHL, with the posssible exception of playoffs?

The ice size maybe? Every time I watch international play, it just seems like there's a lot more motion.... in a good way.

Or is it the not-watered down rosters? Or just different styles at work.

Whatever it is, I'd love to see it find its way into the NHL... although big NHL changes are no doubt unlikely.

EDIT:

I have just discovered the most disturbing website in the history of the internet

http://www.angelfire.com/pa5/martyf...icletindex.html

=O

What the hell are you searching for to 'discover' that site. *shudder*

Thanks to the stupid Jays game I missed both goals. I only turned the channels for like 2 minutes you jerks!

Highlight of the tourney so far was either the smoking hot chick with the Canadian jersey at the US/Canada game or the 2 smoking hot chicks who kissed on camera at the US/Finland game.

2 awesome goals, especially the Heatley to Nash to Heatley goal :D
Doan, you mean

Too many penalties so far. It'll cost them eventually, I'm sure

-edit- I had forgotten just how annoying Pierre McGuire is...... wow....

Bright future for Team Canada with Doan, Nash, Heatley and Thornton, they're there to replace the Lemieuxs, Sakics and Kariyas :)

Man... Nash puts on a clinic..

Then Sweden scores =P

oh well
I figure this is still under control

And why do you think he was protecting the outside lane, McGuire? Because the puck carrier was unmarked - he was split. And Sweden capitalized perfectly.

Damn that Canada goal at the end of the period... this is gonna get real tough.

Edit: 3-3. Canada is gonna win, they've got too much energy now.

Damn slept right through the game. One day I'm going to have to figure out the wacky tourney format so I can tell when to start getting worried about our shitty team D.

What Canada needs is some Mike Comrie.

The Internet
Nah. But maybe a little Joe Sakic, Mario Lemieux, Martin St Louis, Adam Foote, Vincent Lecavalier, Jerome Iginla, Scott Neidermeyer, Rob Blake, Brad Richards, Todd Bertuzzi, Chris Pronger, or Jay Buowmeester.....

During the World Cup, many people were saying that a B team could probably win it. Well, I doubt that now. We've still got a handful of our absolute best, but the 'Bs' are not doing so well.

Wow, Sweden got seriously whipped by USA, biggest lost since '58 or something. :(
Such a strange World Championship this is turning into...just like the whole hockey season in general.

What whole hockey season? :P

Yeah, and who cares about that? ;P

People who have interest in hockey. Some of NHL's best players have been playing in Sweden this season. And in other European leagues too, for that matter. Do I sense a hint of bitterness perhaps? ;P

Boogie said:
Yes, yes you do. :(

Well, even if it's been an awesome hockey season here in Sweden, it's also been very strange with lots of NHL players promptly replacing regular players in teams.
So even with all the world-class players being here (which raises the play quality by quite a margin), I think it would be for the best to get NHL rolling again. Not only for you Americans and Canadians, but for us Swedes as well (and other European hockey countries).

But I secretly hope that Europe one day will be able to match the salaries and temptations of NHL somehow, maybe by creating a European hockey league of similar quality. Yeah, it's probably not as easy as I make it sound, but it would be very cool IMO. NHL All stars vs EHL All stars. :)

Sweden... PLEASE BEAT LATVIA 10-0.

Thank you. :D

Edit: Well 6-0 is enough already, you can stop now. Thank you.

Say goodbye to Group A, Austria and Germany.

Today
16:15 » Czech Republic - USA
16:15 » Canada - Slovakia
20:15 » Russia - Finland
20:15 » Sweden - Switzerland

Shit, I clicked on TSN's website and misread the live ticker and I thought "oh shit, Slovakia scored already - ohwait, it's just the first period no score yet". Then I clicked on the ticker and it was 1-0 Slovakia a minute in. Shit. :P

With the way they've played the last week, I'm thinking it might be a good thing that I'm at work for this game.
