TTP said:Dunno, controls felt spot on to me. Except for the quick 180° turnaround move (quick pull controller towards you), which worked at random. But flying around felt pretty natural. I can see how some can get tired after a while but, well, did you ever ride a dragon?! It's not relaxing at all I tell u!! :lol
Tideas said:RIght now ppl shouldn't basing their critique on the EGM scores, since we don' know what the editors wrote.
BAse it more on the Gamepro score, which was more informative
Karma Kramer said:Didn't the OP in the egm thread summarize each editors thoughts?
Tideas said:I don't want a sumamry. I want the actual quotes.
Thunderbear said:That's good to hear. What publication/site do you work for?
Karma Kramer said:why does it matter?
TTP said:Doesnt really matter cos a) u dont read italian do you? and b) I work for various publications as I'm a freelance guy atm. Basically I mostly write for neoGAF :lol

I DON'T TRUST THESE REVIEWERS
I DON'T TRUST EGM
I TRUST GAMEPRO MORE THAN EGM, THEIR RATING SCALE IS MORE REALISTIC... WHEN THEY RATE A CATEGORY 4 OUT OF 5 THE FACE IS LIKEBUT WHEN THEY RATE IT 5 OUT OF 5 THE FACE IS LIKE
BUT WITH HIS EYEBROWS IN THE AIR AND THAT'S WHEN YOU KNOW IT'S REALLY GOOD
I PREDICT THE AVERAGE SCORES TO BE AROUND 7-8 SO 7-8 IS GOOD HEY GUYS DID YOU HEAR LAIR GOT 8 OUT OF 10 IN MY MIND
THE REVIEW COMPLAINED THAT IT WAS TIRESOME TO PLAY OVER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME WITH THE MOTION CONTROLS, BUT I PLAYED THE GAME FOR 10 MINUTES AND IT FELT FINE TO ME
IF THE CONTROLS ARE THE PROBLEM, THAT'S OKAY WITH ME, I'M GOOD AT CONTROLS
you guys are awesome, NEVER STOP BELIEVING!

Thunderbear said:Hmm... questioning 1 review because you've been looking forward to a game because you might end up having another opinion... yeah that's very weird.
Ass.
And the caps really helped too, made you come across really intelligent and open-minded.

This is the problem with hype, and it was the same story when Lost Planet was due out. Everyone gets really, really hyped up about a game, then reality hits and the game sucks. But everyone remains in denial. "No it must be good" "EGM sucks" "Everyone sucks" "Everyone is wrong except me"
But if being in denial helps you enjoy the game regardless, then good on ya I say.
Thunderbear said:It's a good point if you're a drone. One review from EGM and the game is a failure? No one in here has claimed it's awesome despite the review, they are just saying "we might enjoy it anyway".
It's not denial, it's called thinking for yourself and not automatically believing everything you read.
antiloop said:So the graphics, music are good? What about the story?
Tideas said:And not let one review stop you from believing otherwise
Wollan said:I think I'm going to go in regardless. I've played the game last year and I liked it then. The overall experience is 'spiced' with stuff like ability to visit a Lair dedicated website from the main menu, Leaderboards, Home items, behind the scenes stuff +it has high production values with great music and highly impressive tech...etc. I can't really see this game deserving a 5 despite the shortcomings mentioned.

especially weird when you consider that it's actually 3 reviews.Thunderbear said:Hmm... questioning 1 review because you've been looking forward to a game and because you might end up having another opinion... yeah that's very weird.
you're right, i should've used proper grammar while featuring this picture under my name:And the caps really helped too, made you come across really intelligent and open-minded.
Three reviews.Thunderbear said:One review from EGM and the game is a failure?
The other two reviews weren't bad at all,so explain why one should give credit to this and say lair is utter shit and not the others and say it's awesome?I think we should just wait for some user reviews instead of jumping to conclusions.Mike Works said:Three reviews.
ElFly said:Well, review scores normally don't affect sales. Lair still has a chance of not being a flop.
PS3 owners may still be hyped for this, although I'd say the interest on this game has diminished from the prelaunch days.
I think there lies the problems for some. If the game do suck(which are still preliminary right now since reviews are just starting to trickle in), the mentality that it deserve to not get panned because of the high production values alone is, well, aggravating to some people(Wollan said:I think I'm going to go in regardless. While the caps are extremely annoying, I agree. It's pretty amazing how three reviews have so easily been thrown away by so manyMike Works said:there has been some AMAZING damage control in this thread

Sapapayo said:So if reviews are useless why are we talking about them on gaf ? we just have to ban egm/ign/gamepro/etc ... I don't have the money to buy all the games, and when i try a game like 10 min, i can't say if it will be "good" after 10 hours. I read review because it helps me to chose my games because i don't have much money (and i suppose that i am not alone)
