Official Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess thread

I just started the second dungeon and I have a question about
the shield:

A lizard thing burned off my shield...do I have to make do with a wooden shield from the sauna for now?

Not much of a spoiler at all, but I guess I'll tag it.

That's it, I'm not reading this topic anymore. It's preventing me from enjoying the game at my own pace :(

I haven't read any spoilers or anything (and everyone has been really great about marking everything, saying what point of the game will be spoiled, etc), but hearing that people are on the 3rd dungeon, 4th dungeon, etc., it makes me feel like I'm "falling behind" even though the game has only been out one day.

It makes me I feel like I gotta play all night instead of just an hour or two, which is what I'm more comfortable with.

So... see you guys in a few weeks, when I've cleared the adventure! (or when I get stuck and need help)!

Almost done with
the forest temple.

god it feels so ****ing good to be back in Zelda dungeons

same thing happened to me, but I just finished the dungeon without it. You can buy the
hylian shield
as soon as you finish the dungeon. Perhaps sooner, I didn't try leaving the dungeon after that happened. I thought it was kind of neat actually, just going with the flow like I were in a movie where the hero loses some of his abilities but pushes onward. Wow that felt dorky to say.

The facial expressions in WW and TP add so much character to Link...

Best way to add character to Link while keeping him mute IMO.

The scene in the beginning when the girl was
scolding Link for injuring Epona
was great haha.

Bah... I'm stuck trying to collect tears after the second dungeon.

I'm in Lake Hylia and have two tears left. Only one shows up on the map, and that's at Hyrule Castle, but I have no way to get back there (no warp in the area, and none of the other warps have any open paths). The other one doesn't show up at all. Was I supposed to get a warp near Hyrule Castle?

HA! I just found the answer.

There's a waterway northwest of Hyrule castle. D'oh!

I need some help in the first dungeon...
I've rescued all the monkeys, and just the boss door remains I'm assuming, and I'm guessing the key is behind the door with the 4 windmill things, but I've tried every combination and I can't get them to open, Midna tells me there's probably a clue as to how it works somewhere, but I didn't see anything, a little hint from someone would be nice before an out right answer :P

Music seems to get better exponentially as the game progresses. The early stuff is completely forgettable. Quality is noticeably middling in parts too.

The twilight score is kinda great though, at times it evokes a somewhat chilling 'silent-hill' esque composition, albeit far lighter in spirit.

Twilight Realm music reminds me of the music for Moonside, for any Earthbound lovers out there. Totally trippy.

Any word on the music, by the way?

here's what i said earlier when asked about music:
beelzebozo said:
the music initially i thought was pretty unimpressive; again, it's just a sort of ambient mood music, your typical village-style stuff. but there was a moment about an hour or so in that gave me chills, and it was largely because exactly the right music cue was used at exactly the right time. take that for what it's worth.

i'm still warming up to the classic "you found a new item sound." it's much much different here than it was in wind waker, and coming right off that it was a little disorienting. but the more i play, the better the sound is getting, so i'm hopeful.

and my hopes are paying off. the music is getting better, as others have said--it's used in some places to make for very poignant moments.

I don't care about orchestration as long as the music itself is good. You can orchestrate the hell out of a soundtrack but if there's no memorable themes or strong compositions, you've wasted your time.

Yeah, the music starts off poorly, but picks up on into the game. It's pretty solid. Expect classic Zelda themes mixed with some real atmoshperic, creepy styled music in the twilight realm.

The first horsefight where you save Colin is the most badass thing I have seen in a Zelda game so far.

Look at the ground.

I'm in the forest dungeon and I need some help:

I near the end of the dungeon, I'm at the top, eastern part. I got the boomrang, I need to blowoff a boulder which is on another level, right in front of the vines. And I got a spider bomb that I need to grab with the boomrang. I tried throwing the damn bomb in... I can't throw that high... Need some help here buddies.

Get near the ledge and throw the boomerang so that Link catches the spiderbomb, then throw it at the boulder.

My Wii is taking forever to update so I'm hanging out in this thread. :x

So, I have only a single question for all you, that can already play with Twilight Princess. No, it is not a Joke-Question:

I have read 20+ review and all are positive (9.5-10 in the complex, avergae of 9.7 now).
Gamespot is the only one that rated the Game with the now famous 8.8.

His Note is justified or not ? Thanks for answer !

im still just messing around in the 1st temple.
I don't even have the
gale bomberang
yet. rescued 3 monkies.

i'm stuck trying to get one of those
plants
out of the way
with a bomb
so i can get to a small chest.

No one should score it before they're through. But I think many are getting a general idea of how far it is from anything resembling an 8.8.

if I get too close and I receive the bomb from the boomrang, the bomb explodes.

And I do I have to wait to throw the bomb... do I need timming?

based on my experience, the lowest i could rate it would be 9.5 but i'm leaning more towards a 9.7 or 9.8

If this is the part I think you mean:

Just use the boomerang on the bomb creature at let it bring the bomb back to you while you're standing on top of the platform with the vines. You should automatically pick it up, then you can turn around and chuck it at the rock.

Hope that's the part you meant.

Crap.

So my Wii has an issue with its disc transitioning; so like if I'm playing Trauma Center and I go to the main menu and put in Zelda, Zelda won't play properly. However, if I shut down the entire system and put Zelda in, it works fine. It still bugs me, but I called Nintendo yesterday, and they said they're sending me a replacement unit. Good news right? Well... I'm about 3 hours into Zelda, and I'm gonna have to start over and play that part again which isn't a big deal since I'm only to the first temple, and I wouldn't really mind playing such a kick ass game. Rather, I'm antsy because I WANT to play this game so bad, but I just don't want to get 20 hours into it and then have to restart since I think it'd really mess up my flow if I did that. So far, the game has been absolutely amazing; I cracked such a huge smile even with something small like
pressing A&B on the main start screen and just hearing the fairy fountain music...
and I LOVED
seeing that totally kickass Hyrule Castle takeover cutscene.

So I'm just kinda biding my time, NOT playing it. *sigh.* This might be a blessing in disguise though; it'll give me time to beat FFXII I guess.

Holy crap, the Twilight Realm is AWESOME.

I'm just getting here now, climbing the
Castle
... Man, I feel bad for every other development house that tries to release action adventure games...

I mean, how can they expect to live up to this?

The Forest Temple gets an A+ from me. For comparison, Deku Tree receives a B.

Unfortunately I won't be able to play anymore until tommorrow at the earliest.

You need
the Gale Boomerang in order to get rid of the plant. And you cant get that until you get the 4th monkey.

Im starting to think that, there should be NO guides for Zelda Twilight Princess, whatsoever.

no Prima books
no Gamefaq walkthroughs
no Zelda.com guides
and everyone take the HARD way and not ask for help. if you're stuck, TOO BAD, figure it out. it will make the game last longer, dispite frustration. it would ultimately be more rewarding that way, and people wouldn't blow through the game in a few days or weeks. it would take average gamers weeks to months to figure out, and slow/stupid/below average gamers (like me) months if not years to get to the end. that would make the wait for the next Zelda alot easier :lol

I know nothing about the machine yet, but would it be possible to use an SD flash card and simply transfer your save data from the machine onto the card for use on another system?

I wouldnt worry about it. The game is so long that you'll probably be in a dungeon long enough for somebody else to have finished the previous one and gotten to it. Plus, many others dont have a ton of time to play the game everyday. That doesnt include peeps who dont even have the game or system. They'll be plenty of times to go around.

Buy a cheapo SD card and dump all your data on there. Don't forget you've got your Mii's to worry about!

wow.. can't believe no one has correctly answered this

go into pointer mode with the boomerang. z-target the bomb thing then z-target the boulder. fire and let the boomerang take care of the rest.

I assumed somebody already answered it......(correctly) :lol

Really frustrating question since I know the answer is going to be so obvious:

In the Forest Temple, there is a monkey
down a hole, stuck in a cage sitting on top of a small mound/hill. There is nothing else in this hole except a bomb plant (and one of those things a bomb plant can kill). Boomeranging the bomb up the hill at the cage doesn't work, and I've tried everything else possible. Suggestions?

Assign your Lantern to the B button and use it while standing on top of the web. The fire will burn it and you'll fall through. As for the cage, you just use your sword on it like you did when you rescued the female monkey & child before.
I think the old rolling trip from the Deku Tree in OOT works too while it's out.

Let Nintendo's EAD group to absorb their talents and apply them to another Zelda game. But really, who makes action/adventures that can be compared to Zelda (mechanically) anymore? There's Metroid and the no hope for a series Okami. Everything else can hide safely behind the new adventure structure. Go Free Roaming/Living World and be compared to GTA instead. Go Sweeping Multi-Branched/RPG style and be compared to the Oblivions. Zelda is, now more than ever, is really kind of un-comparable.
