I used it for part of last season. Using that 5 wide set but lining up Gates and LT as receivers FTW.

How could you line them both up as WRs? The set is 5 WR. I can understand switching to TE slot to get the TE lining up wide, but where do you get LT from?

There's a set up that runs bunch right side two WR left where in the Bunch on the right side one of them is a RB, he probably just added the TE to the formation via X button

Since a surprising 7 people have voted for the league to start next Thursday, yet Friday is still winning..maybe we could compromise and extend the length of the first week by a couple days. I have no issues with the league starting tomorrow and advancing in the usual 4 days or so, but I don't want to alienate 7+ people.

And oh yeah, if you're one of the 12 people who hasn't voted..

Wow, four drops in my game vs. Matt. Boo-urns.

Might have to return to the 3-4. Tried the Cover 2 playbook because I thought it was a fit for St. Louis' style. Not so much. Might give the standard 4-3 playbook a go if I get another exhibition game in, but I think I'll probably wind up using the "Multiple" playbook again this year.

Also, PA rollouts are ridiculous in this game. But I think we already knew that :)

(I had a corner blitz, and the *corner* bit on the run)

The only real way to stop PA rollouts is to manually tell a lineman not to tackle the RB. They're a real risk/reward thing, though, because you can get sacked so easily.

That option sounds like a perfect fit for both groups.

Yeah, Ando's the king of stopping PA (I couldn't playaction pass in our playoff game)... in our game, I tried controlling the DE, but most of the plays were running plays.... and I really can't stand being out that wide, whether it's a run or a pass. My comfort zone is at tackle.

Malleymal

You now belong to FMT.
Yea man good game... he didnt want to close it out at all though with losses of 8 and 6 when trying to run out the clock... Moss was a Monster though on those 3 catches.... GG

When will you be back from Atlantic City, Malley?

You're my opponent in week 1, so I'm just checking to see when you'll want to play if the league starts tomorrow.

Is there a way to hot route receivers in to post/corner routes?

Nope. Only routes are drags, slants, hooks, go, slant and go, and ins and outs.

Oh and Rors, the manual just says Left Stick or D-pad is "lead the receiver." It says nothing about up being a jump pass--even though many times it will lead to one.

In my experience the only way I can trigger a speed receiver beat his man and get separation for the deep ball is to use up on the D-pad. As I experimented against dammitmattt, even when the QB is fully set with no pressure, a WR on a go route will not get that separation without using up on the stick/d-pad and you will throw an INT 9 times out of 10.

Do WR's have to have a Weapon to go for jump passes? I have Wilford, Reggie Williams, and Matt Jones -- will they do it if they don't have the weapon?

Also, I can scrimmage tonight if anybody wants to.

...that's exactly what I said...it's the exact same function as the stick......................

D-Pad is the same as the thumbstick in all parts of the game from the menus to calling hot routes, to controlling the player.

Even with one on one against an average CB, and pressing up as I throw..Marvin Harrison's success on go routes is very limited due to the eyes in the back of the head jumping CBs.. It wouldn't be fair for those passes to be completed every time, granted, but the amount of 'touch' you can put on deep passes is severely limited due to the flying swats.

Hey Mr. Ellipses. You had to know I was going to bitch about the Colts soon enough (to be fair, I'm bitching about the passing game in general..I'm very lucky to have this team)

Fifty is right, it is hard to beat someone on a "go" -- even with Harrison. Most of r0rnex's throws involve him scrambling to the right while a dude comes over the middle tho, so he doesn't really throw a lot of go :)

I LOVE YOU RORS

Luckily, you're not on my schedule, so you can continue leaving the middle wide open and blitzing on every down. :]

Luke, get Bryan to give the NeoGAF Madden league a shout out on next week's Sports Anomaly. Tell his ass to join in Season 12 too, so he can give updates on his online league team instead of his franchise team on the podcast.

Yeah he wants to play really badly actually, I told him once population thinned out he'd easily get a spot (assuming FMT/Fify allow it). He's ALWAYS asking how the league is going and I'm sure he'd post in this thread (he is a GAF memeber)

When the season starts and I run the ball 20+ times with THE EDGE , its going to be less than 10 again.

If you think DMBall was bad before...

If you're looking for someone to emulate the Dolphins or Rams in your league, invite Todd. He's terribe at Madden...and every other sports game.

Nope! I'm going to keep passing 50 times a game in our scrimmages because its the only time I feel safe to do it :p

Once the season starts, I'm going back into my shell and playing it safe.

As a poster I like you, but FUCK I hate playing DMBall and I get at least TWO doses of it this season.

Slow and steady wins the race.

The Cardinals Defense is pretty damn horrible though. I can slow people down for a couple of quarters but then the floodgates open and I can't stop it! Help me FEMA!

Hey Fifty, how the heck did you run for 1000 yards last year?

Everyone I play QB spies the shiznit out of Vince so if I roll out of the pocket someone is in my face!

No, you're terrible and make mistakes because you have ADD. The reason I know this, is because I'm exactly the same way. I tell myself I'll play conservative then I tune out and the next thing I know I'm hucking balls on go routes to Bobby Engram.

You wouldn't know field position football if it bit you in the face. :D

The reason it works so well for DM is because he loves playing defense so much. I think he likes it a lot more than playing offense. He'd probably punt on first down if he knew he had to pass on third. :p

I am actually debating punting on first down in my games against DM all season. Just as an experiment.

:lol

It's funny, because its true! I get my jollies off of nailing punts inside the 5....mmm!

I lost 2 games last season because I tried to actually score TDs in the redzone instead of kicking the gimme FG. If I win those 2 games, I might have had a deeper run in the playoffs! Never again! Project: DMBall II is online.

I think this is all a ruse and you're going to actually spread and stretch the field like a horny 17 year old on prom night.
