Haha that Yao thing is fucking awesome. Seriously, I wish I could see it at regular speed -- someone put an avi file on yousendit, asap! :D

I concede that Ben Gordon should probably win RoY although I think Dwight Howard has done a very admirable job for his first year out of high school. In a few years, he'll definitely be a 20-10 guy every game. :D

Is it just me, or is this season way better than the last one? The suns, sonics, rockets and mavs have all been really fun to watch lately in the west (spurs can be, too). And the east has actually been pretty surprising too. I mean, it's still the east, but the heat have been really fun to watch, and the bulls (which is just a great turn-around story, I think), and then there's lebron's second year being so much better than his first.

It's cos they put an emphasis on stopping Detroit's "defense" from last year. Unfortunately, they just call everything now and guys are getting to the line by just diving into the paint so teams just don't play D till the 4th :lol

I guess it's fun for some to watch but I cringe when teams I'm rooting for play against opponents who have penetrating guards with no jumpshot >_<

Cleveland/Chicago will probably be a good game and has pretty big playoff implications with the Cavs currently leading the season series 2-1 so I don't mind wathcing this instead at all.

Well, that and I'm a Cavs fan.

Bulls lucked out big time after Gordon got swatted.

EDIT: Oh wow-- that was a pass? It looked like it got blocked/deflected right into his hands. Gordon is amazing. Period. To have that poise as a rook is incredible.

Lebron out-Gordons Gordon! :lol Crazy stuff.

It's okay-- I'm sure all we'll be missing is a few Kobe bricks and TO's... ;) :D

Damn, I realize the game is only going to overtime but I want to note how bizarre it is for me as a Cleveland fan to see #23 hit that shot in a Chicago game and to remember he's playing on my team this time.

Oh those stinging playoff losses of years past...

Hah, that is pretty funny, considering history... :D

He and Chandler are both restricted but they're not gonna match a ridiculous offer sheet for a guy they don't even use in crunchtime. Some team will offer him some crazy cash if last summer was any indication and they'll let him walk...

PS: Loki, Chandler is an LA kid so I hope the Lakers make a run at him with George and some other ending Ks :D

How do you miss 3 wide-open 3 pointers? And you wonder why Kobe's assists aren't double what they are... these scrubs can't make a wide open feed!

Since this is Thursday, in honor of tha Donald, "You're fired!"

I think Paxson will hold on to both of the big guys (so get your greedy claws off of em). If he's smart, he will. Gotta let the checkbook fly, the future is now.

Wow, how many assists would Kobe average if he had competent shooters around him? :lol

5.

But he averages 6 now o_O

Yeah, it'd be a shame to develop those guys then lose one of them to another team but both are gonna get crazy money thrown at them and you don't wanna break the bank now cos Kirk and Ben will be up for extensions before you know it :p

What the shit? Kobe has one of the lowest FG% on the team, and misses assloads of shots. Welcome to the real world, where guys don't hit perimeter shots all the time. Guess what: it happens to every star guard. Every star guard's assists would be higher if their teammates hit every wide open shot. Why are you making like this is solely "Kobe's plight"? :lol

How many defender(s) does Kobe have on him when he misses those shots? He is certainly not wide open.

I don't ask for every shot. Hell, any competent guard in the NBA should be able to at least hit 50% of the WIDE OPEN shots (mind you, not even 50% total shooting). 4 missed wide-open 3s in a row is unacceptable.

Cos I watch the games and I see that happening waaay too often. NBA players should hit open shots off double teams. Fish and Fox always hit those >_<

Because they love Kobe the way you love Jordan.

I just hope these Kobephiles abandon ship and find someone else to curse next year...

Why you looking at me like that Konex?

Those Lakers happened to have an extraordinary supporting cast all the way around. From Shaw, to Rice, to Harper, to Fox, to Horry, to George (who's been playing big since his return, btw)-- they were all huge, and they all made shots.

How many defender(s) does Kobe have on him when he misses those shots? He is certainly not wide open.

And you're kidding yourself if you don't realize that many of Kobe's passes come after he's dribbled around or dominated the ball for 10+ seconds and then passes off at the last moment to a teammate for a rushed, contested shot. This was one case where the teammate was WIDE open-- stop acting as if those are the sort of shots he gets for teammates regularly, because that's false. And again, welcome to what every star guard goes through. Stop bitching. :D

You're right. But the point is that shit happens. Stop making like this one possession is emblematic of the Lakers' entire season or the sorts of looks Kobe gets teammates (as if he was Shaq :lol).

EDIT:

Konex: see that pic with the Knicks? That's what Jordan went through every game for a decade, and what guys like TMac and AI have had to contend with for years. Welcome to the real world, Kobester. :D

Wow, what a crazy shot by KG. Caron Butler had a really nice hanging layup in the first half, too.

Kobe showing why he's Kobe with the boneheaded 3 from 28 feet out with 20 seconds left on the shotclock and ample time left in the game to make a comeback (especially w/Minny's offensive futility in the 4th). Cassell with the dagger off glass.

EDIT:

Cassell is ridiculous when he's on. Too bad he's been horribly inconsistent for Minny this season.

Cassell hasn't been inconsistent, he's just been hurt....

PS: Kobe makes that shot often. Hell, I'd rather see him launch that than anyone else besides Caron take a shot there :lol

A 43% FG shooter and 33% from deep. 28 feet out. 20 seconds left on the shot clock. 4:00 left in the game. Down only 9.

I'll say no more. It was a boneheaded shot given the difficulty, time, and game situation.

"I make this shot often" is probably what Kobe said to himself as he teed it up. :lol This is why the Fakers will be in trouble for quite some time. :p

That shot is in his range and he has the balls to take it. If he makes it and they win, he's a hero. He missed and they lost so it's just more ammo for the haters :p

This is why the Fakers will be in trouble for quite some time. :p

The reason the Lakers are struggling is cos they have no offense or defense in the paint. Hell, Kandiman looked servicable tonight. I don't know how anyone can say Kobe is a "problem" for this team...

Someone needs to tell the Wolves' their season is over and they should be positioning themselves for the draft instead of winning meaningless games. Mchale didn't install himself as coach for nothing.

Makes Atkins' comment about Kobe the other day even all the more revealing, don't you think?

BTW, did anyone catch Jeanie Buss blow Chucky up on ESPN radio today? When asked about Chucky's comments, she was like, "Look how many teams Chucky has been on". She also, said he claims he was mis-quoted but why would he even say anything close to that about the organization and the media needs to get off Kobe's ass.

I think Chucky is as good as gone. All they need to do is tank the rest while avoiding the franchise losing streak record :D
