so the yankees outbid the mets and red sox for a 16 year old catcher. they paid him $2 million dollars. yankee scouts say he's the best venezuelan prospect since miguel cabrera.

The Sox got the 2nd and 4th best prospects, power-hitting outfielder Angel Beltre and shortstop Moises Tejeda. Red Sox Dominican connections FTW.

Reports indicate this is the best crop of international players in some time.

Cubs are the suck :D

The Braves are usually very active in the international market. But, its absolutely preposterous that there's not an international draft. IMO, it has to be a pillar of the next CBA.

:lol those sound like the made up names they give to players in World Series Baseball 2k3.

"Juan Griffey!"

****ers. If there was ANY way to spoil winning 14 out of 15, it's dropping back to back games to the D-Rays - even worse, with Beckett and Schilling on the mound. And 6 errors in the last 4 games? It's like immediately after setting that record, defense went to complete shit.

Ahh the ideal result...Manny goes 2-3 with a 3 run jack and the Bosox lose! Praise be to my fantasy team and to the Blue Jays!

obviously the red sox will lose 2 in a row the drays and the yanks wont make up any ground...

chacon is gonna be DFA'd I think.

MAGIC has run out. Wang's magic though seems to be real.

yankees a bat pretty bad. matsui should come back faster than anyone expected but it might be too late by then.

Jays can't lose this game tonight. Yankees are losing bad (nice bullpen you've got there), Red Sox lost, and it's Halladay pitching.

God this game nearly drove me up the wall. BJ Ryan is indeed human after all. Thankfully he composed himself against Mathews Jr. and closed it out, but damn that was scary. Big win.

Completely miserable. Being back in the AL sucks. The depleted Yankees drop two in a row and we fail to take advantage of that even when playing the goddamn Rays.

Don't worry though, because we can count on Jason Johnson to get us a win tomorrow. UGGGHH.

Oh, and **** Ty Wigginton. What is it with every team having one scrub that kills us?

That was close, Ryan almost pulled a Batista there but was able to compose himself. Oh well a wins a win.

I was 100% sure that game was getting rained out, great to get the road win and make up ground on both the Evil Empire and Evil Empire Jr.

To be a truly Batista-esque effort BJ would have had to walk 2 of the first 3 batters he faced then given up a single, then a DP to get the "save".

a win is a win. a win is a win. a win is a win. a win is a win. a win is a win. a win is a win. a win is a win. a win is a win. a win is a win. a win is a win. a win is a win. a win is a win.

2B - G Sizemore 2 (25, S Chacon, T Beam); V Martinez (18, S Chacon); T Hollandsworth (10, T Beam); T Hafner (16, T Beam); R Belliard (19, S Proctor).

HR - J Peralta 2 (9, 1st inning off S Chacon 1 on, 1 Out, 5th inning off T Beam 0 on, 2 Out), V Martinez (11, 1st inning off S Chacon 1 on, 1 Out), T Hafner 2 (24, 2nd inning off S Chacon 2 on, 1 Out, 6th inning off S Proctor 0 on, 1 Out), R Belliard (8, 5th inning off T Beam 1 on, 2 Out).

S - R Belliard.

RBI - J Peralta 3 (39), V Martinez 3 (56), T Hafner 4 (70), G Sizemore (42), R Belliard 4 (41), T Hollandsworth 2 (25), A Boone 2 (34).

A 1-2-3 inning with Batista last year was 3 warning track fly outs :(

i spent all my bile and diatribes tonight so i'm not even in the mood. a game like this happens, yesterday's game was worse. we always do that shit and it's annoying losing to so many damn rookies.

Dodgers are putting up some big runs against AZ... hopefully we can finish the sweep tonight. Ethier has been on a tear -- we're facing the same damn problem we had earlier this year (and last) where the OF is just too crowded. JD Drew is clearly never going to be the power hitter (or healthy enough) that we'd hoped for and I think it's time to deal him and have Kemp and Ethier (plus Repko and Werth eventually) out there full-time. Jose Cruz, Jr. is expendable as well.

19-1 and Arod didn't step up and launch one? Thats so unlike him.

He was 3 for 4 though at least. 21 for last 40-something I think (don't quote me). Looks like last week's walk-off may really have been the start of something for him. Moose has gotta step up tonight and stop the bleeding. Give us at least 7 or 8. Of course, we win tonight so will the Bosox of course. And don't think we don't see the Jays creeping up. All in all, this is the best Yankee season in friggin' years. Feels good to be in a race.

manny's going to miss ANOTHER all-star game with an "injury". what a joke this guy is.

Who gives a shit? The All-Star game sucks. I'd much rather have NONE of my team's players in the All-Star game. Get some rest and come back refreshed for some games that really matter.

i'd agree with you on pitchers and catchers but manny plays left field at fenway...does he really need a refreshing??

Well, he has been banged up this season. He has missed a couple of games with knee issues, and they've pulled him from a number of games a bit earlier than usual because of them. He DID play in last year's All-Star game, and he had a home run.

it just rubs me the wrong way i guess. also he's manny so any chance i get to shit on him i'll take it.

who was 4th in OF voting?

I'm not sure who was fourth, but I've heard that Magglio Ordonez will take Manny's vacated spot. I find that funny considering his relationship with Guillen. As for who would start, I guess that would bump Wells into a starting spot.

I'm happy that dumbshit ozzie guillen didn't pick Moose. He'll get a few days to rest.

And you should be happy he didn't pick Schilling. We all win when it's just Ozzie being Ozzie!

Yeah, it's kind of a downer for Schilling since he had hoped to be an all-star this year so his son Gehrig could see him pitch in the game. Gehrig is supposedly really getting into baseball, and Schill wanted him to experience the all-star game. Next season will be Schilling's last, so he's only going to get one more chance.

Anyways, I am glad that Ozzie is retarded and sent Buehueuerle instead of Schilling. I agree that Mussina got snubbed as well, but I wouldn't mind him having to pitch in the game. :)

And LOL @ Mark Redman being an all-star. They really should do something about the "every team needs a representative" rule.

i think they just need to do something about the royals. the marlins payroll is something out of the 80's but they have a bunch of all-star candidates.

looking at the royals roster, there's literally not even 1 person that you would think of as a possible candidate.

The Royals should probably be contracted. From what I hear, their system is complete trash, and we all know their major league roster is garbage.

Is there really anyone left in Missouri that still cares about the Royals? I would think their fan base has probably migrated to the Cardinals by now.

Man, I used to love to hate them back in the George Brett 80's. :-(

That's why David Glass stole Dayton Moore away from the Braves.
