Well like you said SOS and winning% is pretty much the only things that mean anything. However the having to have finished the season to get into the postseason sounds great and all but look at it:
These are the possible teams to get in for the last 2 spots:
Azwethinkweiz at 5-2 (lost to cloudy)
ninja scooter at 6-1 (split with cloudy and needs to finish games)
Cloudy at 7-3 (split with the trojans)
dmczaf aka UNLV at 4-3 lost to the Utes (so out of the question)
Truelize aka notre dame at 3-2 (lost to cougars and nittany lions so should be considered out of the question)
Kevtones at 2-3. (lost to nittany lions so out of the question)
So if we step back and look at a summary:
Honestly if you're at this stage in the game with 6 days on the subscription (which i think the cutoff should be tonight regardless) and you've only played 6 games you shouldn't be considered a contender anyway. So that would knock out Kev and True. I know they may be great players and vets or whatever the situation may be it doesn't excuse holding the league behind like this.
So then you would only have 4 people competing for the last 2 spots. Well then if you look further dmczaf lost to the utes... So therefore basted on SoS and the fact that he's lost 3 games should count him out.
So now there were three.
Cloudy beat Azwethink and split with ninja. The point spread favors ninja over the two matches but I don't even think that's an issue. Since cloudy beat azwethinkweis (leaving the games played as is) Cloudy would be a definite for one of those spots.
So then there were two.
(Though not by much) Ninja's SoS is a little bit stronger. If Azwe and Lone play tonight which they say they will, I say if Azwe wins, he's in, if he loses ninja's in... Simple as that. That's enough to shift the SoS one way or the other.
Konex, I was talking about the "Overall Ranking" at the bottom of the home page, the thing that takes into account all the weighted stats...which I think FMT screwed up!!! mmlemay's 7.42 is the lowest score on there.

Vump: that sounds pretty reasonable actually. I might have a chance to get my games finished here tonight and tomorrow but my losses to two lower ranked teams doesn't help me.
Matrix uses VOODOO though!!!!!! He owns a "beat Truelize" model of the gameshark.
But someone needs to figure out if I even have a chance. Cause if I don't then I would rather just play dynasty mode and bring the game back to Blockbuster this week. Unless of course that I need to play someone that is in the playoffs because my game with them effects their final ranking (eg: Lonestar).

I think it's more to do with my team having pretty good stats and being towards the top of the list in many categories. This just shows that I have the capability of being an elite team, but I just didn't follow through with it on the field. 4 out of my 5 losses were by one score, and two of those were decided on last-minute field goals. I played pretty good offense and defense but I just couldn't put it together this year.

Mostly, it's a buggy score system. There's a Offense Allowed category that hasn't made sense all season, and you're #1, giving you a better score off that category. The Passing and Running allowed overall scores are backwards, giving people that gave up more of those yards a highest ranking, when it should be reversed (See: The Passing and running allowed per game stat). There's still a Defensive interception, Interception, and Interception thrown category. One of those isn't needed. Fumble's Lost should be reversed (congrats at #1 in fumbling!) But, no one's interested in fixing those.

All of this talk about determining the top 8 is nice and good, but in the end it all comes down to who is voted in. According to the rules, an 0-8 team can theoretically get voted in (I know not likely). I am all for making tonight the last day to get your games in because it will suck if Vumpler can't compete in the playoffs. FMT already set the deadline for the games, we should go ahead and set the deadline for the voting also. We can't afford to turn the voting into a protracted mess due to the time constraints namely Madden 07 coming out in 7 days. Just my two cents.

guys please don't pay attention to that "overall rank" stat column. i cannot take it off. i did not pick those top teams in that category. it is picked based off of numerical values for various stats (all of which are set to 1.0 right now), so please pay no attention.

fellas let me stress that while i am open for letting the league decide who is in the top 8, please don't take your personal opinion about someone and let it dictate whether that person gets into the top 8. try to be as unbiased as possible. just look at the numbers, this isn't something person.

ok well I'm out. I just lost the biggest bullshit game to some fill in for nebraska. Players dropping passes for the hell of it, a player fumbling right after he caught a pass, my qb fumbling as his arm was clearly moving forward (where the **** are challenges online?). The best part was that the only lag in the game was when I was on offense and in the red zone. And it was really really really bad lag.
Oh, and are line shifts still illegal? I dunno if everyone agreed they were ok while I was gone.

i've gotten more than a few rankings that have left ohio st off. come on guys. i know no one likes shawnhann's gloating, but please base your rankings off of record/performance, and not character. bottom line is there is NO WAY there will be a top 8 without ohio state. if you want to put ohio state @ #8 fine. but i don't know how anyone can justify not having ohio state somewhere in there.

Ugh, sorry guys. I'm posting from my friend's computer. Since I'm moving later this week, my roommate shut off our cable/internet prematurely, so I was unable to play all of the games I needed to tonight.
