The Cowboys should jump at this but they won't. They are eyeing punch drunk Bedso to take over for old man Testiverty. What they really need s a viable future QB because it's obvious that Tuna doesn't think Henson and Romo are it.

Garcia on the cowboys would suck for philly because he always kills us. Bledsoe on the other hand, thats two automatic wins for us.

Did you guys even sellout playoff games before you got Vick? Falcons fans will dissapear if he doesnt deliver, which he wont.

Yeah we have sold out playoff games. We have only had like 3. :lol

You might be right about the majority of the fans disappearing, but that's more of a result of the makeup of the majority of people who live in Atlanta. The true fans will stay around.

How can you possibly say that Vick won't deliver? In two years as a starter, he has 2 playoff wins. In the year between, when he was hurt, the Falcons were one of the worst teams in the league.

Oh, but sure, it could just be that Jim Mora Jr is one of the best coaches in the league. Of course, don't know how I overlooked that obvious fact.

Word has it the WR from Carolina, Muhommed, will be getting released. Caroline wants to resign him. Philly is supposed to be interested in him as a replacement for Freddy "Bigfuckingmouth" Mitchell. Word is regardless of who they get to replace him Freddy is gone from Phillytown. Also word has it Bledsoe is already in as the starting QB of the Cowboys.

Just wasn't meant to be. He wanted too much for being known as a possession receiver. I understand that he had the best year of his career, but 5 years, $25 million + $10 million bonus was, in the end, just too much. Hopefully Troy Williamson or Mike Williams will be on the board at #14 for Carolina to take.

Good luck Moose, wherever you might end up. Hopefully he gets that chamionship ring that he came oh so close to getting with us :(

Nooooooo! My favorite receiver this passed season CAN'T end up on my most hated team! I dunno how they'd be able to afford him what with their current roster, though.

The Giants, on the other hand.... Should go ahead and sign him and Burress!!!!!!!!!!!

Brees was given the Franchise tag by San Diego, by the way.

Local newscasters are saying he ruptured a blood vessel in his head and it's probably from the probowl. The guy gets into the game for the first time and ends up in the hospital... three days later.

The Curse taking effect allready?? The last 3 teams to knock the eagles out of the playoffs went 7-9 the following year. It might actually be the last 4 teams, did the giants go 7-9 after their superbowl? Either way, Pats run is over!! :)

Does the curse include mild strokes?

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/3403934

BOSTON (AP) - New England Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi suffered a mild stroke but is walking, talking and in good spirits, the team said Thursday.

Bruschi experienced temporary numbness, blurred vision and headaches Wednesday night and was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital.

Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi reportedly suffered partial paralysis and blurred vision, but the team said he's now in "good condition." (Daniel P. Derella / AP)

"It has been determined that these symptoms were the results of a mild stroke," team spokesman Stacey James said. "Tedy is in good condition and, as always, his spirits are high. He is walking and talking normally and stressed that he would like to thank everyone for keeping him and his family in their thoughts and prayers."

The Patriots said Bruschi could be released as early as Friday.

"The outpouring of support has been overwhelming and the Bruschi family is very appreciative," James said.

A nine-year NFL veteran, Bruschi is the centerpiece of the Patriots defense that helped the team win three of the past four Super Bowls, including a 24-21 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Feb. 6.

On Sunday, Bruschi played in his first Pro Bowl.

Bruschi, 31, was selected as the AFC's Defensive Player of the Week three times, including the first-round playoff victory over the Indianapolis Colts. A second team Associated Press All-Pro selection, he ranked second on the team with 128 tackles and tied for second with three interceptions.

He had two fumble recoveries in the team's 20-3 playoff win over the Indianapolis Colts, and an interception in the Super Bowl.

It's hard to tell how serious it is. He's already talking and walking normal and gets released Friday, but something about "mild stroke" doesn't sound very good...

:lol :lol :lol!!! Bucs sign Akili Smith! :lol! I am dying here!

http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/TB/8206989

TAMPA, Fla. (Feb. 18, 2005) -- Former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Akili Smith has signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Smith was the third player selected in the 1999 NFL Draft, but only appeared in 22 games -- with 17 starts -- in four disappointing seasons with the Bengals. He signed with Green Bay before the 2003 season, but did not make the team.

With Cincinnati, Smith completed 215 of 461 passes for 2,212 yards, five touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

Smith already had agreed to play in NFL Europe although he was not affiliated with any NFL team. The Bucs said he will play for the Frankfurt Galaxy.

:lol!

In other NFL related news John Abraham was named the Jets franchise player, even more interseting...

They also could negotiate a long-term deal with him or trade him -- some reports have Minnesota interested in obtaining Abraham for wide receiver Randy Moss, who is on the market.

:0

Fucking Seahawks fucking resigned Walter Jones. I wanted him on my team. Fuck you Seattle.

Jesus christ, how are the Titans so consistantly high above the salary cap?

According to ESPN, they plan to cut Mason, Rolle, and Kevin Carter. Also expected gone are their Kicker (Nedney), an offensive tackle, and fullback.

They're trying to restructure the deals of McNair and others, which means they could get cut too if no agreement can be reached.

As for the Seahawks signing Walter Jones-I'm surprised. Hadn't heard this, but they've used their franchise tag on him for the past few years. This could mean Shaun Alexander isn't as free an agent as he may have hoped to be.

Got to feel bad for Akili Smith, the guy just doesn't seem to have what it takes but at least he keeps trying. I don't know why Tampa would agree to send him to NFL Europe though when they have Chris Simms on the roster, Gruden's first choice to replace Brad Johnson last season.

Too bad about Walter Jones, I would've liked to see him on the Giants (though I figured he would have to be given a king's ransom to play for Coughlin). But I really don't think the Giants O-line is in such bad shape. Eli was sacked 13 times in 7 games compared to 40! for Warner in 9 games. The Giants should try and bring in a mid-level pass-blocking LT and then move Luke Petitgout to RT and David Dheil back to guard. That should give them a decent unit with some depth.

:lol :lol :lol
They should just cut their losses now(literally. cut? get it? it's a pun) and cut McInjured.

also, looks like the redskins are going to release Coles. i always thought he was a bit of a bitch wr....but having that said, i'd gladly take him here in chitown. as long as we don't sign fucking warner....

Alexander will likely leave in free agency

If both running back Shaun Alexander and quarterback Matt Hasselbeck remain unsigned on Tuesday, the Seattle Seahawks already know who they will place their franchise tag on.

According to a report on the Tacoma, Wash., News Tribune's Web site, the Seahawks have informed Hasselbeck of their decision to designate him as their franchise player if the sides don't reach a contract agreement by the 1 p.m. Tuesday deadline. The move means Seattle would have to offer Hasselbeck, 29, a one-year contract worth $8.078 million -- the average of the five highest quarterback salaries for 2004 -- as a franchise QB.

A deal that size would wipe out roughly one-third of Seattle's exisiting salary cap space -- which in turn is about twice what a long-term deal might wipe out in 2005, an incentive for the Seahawks to get a deal done -- according to the News Tribune.

With an 83.1 rating last season, Hasselbeck was the league's 17th-rated passer. He completed 58.9 percent of his passes for 3,382 yards, with 22 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. He is also the highest-rated passer in team history, ahead of Dave Krieg.

The Seahawks don't want to start over at the position, so their best-case scenario is to sign Hasselbeck to a long-term contract before the deadline and use the franchise designation on Alexander instead. Alexander, 27, could play under the one-year, $6.3 million franchise number for running backs, or the team could pursue a trade. However, the Seahawks haven't been aggressive in trying to re-sign Alexander, so a deal seems unlikely, the News Tribune reported.

Alexander set franchise records last season with 353 carries for 1,696 yards and 20 touchdowns.

NFL free agency begins March 2.

wonder how hard theyre trying to work on hasselbeck's deal so they can franchise alexander. 8 mil a year for hasselbeck? :lol :lol fuck that

sucks to be you! But really why are we letting Shaun go... Mike remember your days as a Packer's coach... able to run the ball = good... only passing = bad

i saw a post on the rams board saying hasselbeck has agreed to a long term deal. Looks like shaun alexander will be franchised.

btw, why is FMT banned?

Because I lost a bet to him and now I have to use this avatar for a week!

Kidding. Because he flamed the entire ESPN line of sports games.

God I hope the Vikings pick up the Titan's that just got cut. HEY GUYS, COME PLAY IN MINNESOTA! THE ICE FISHING IS GREAT!

Green Bay designated tight end Bubba Franks as their franchise player.

The Colts signed right tackle Ryan Diem to a seven-year contract. :D Suck it down FMT! If I can't have Walter Jones, you can't have Ryan Diem!

Another WR wants in on the Eagles title run next year. Fredex will be eaisly replaced.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (Feb. 22, 2005) -- The Baltimore Ravens released wide receiver Kevin Johnson. The move makes him an unrestricted free agent.

Johnson recently expressed a preference to play for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Also the NFL network is reporting the Cowboys have signed Bledsoe. What a dumb move, now we get 2 easy division wins and the opportunity to pad our sack numbers.

How the fuck do the Ravens have the ability to release a receiver, even one who underperformed and is a general bad pick-up? Unless they plan on lining Ed Reed up as their deep threat, they can't get away with cutting anybody.

God bless the Seahawks. Hasselbeck signed. Happy day!

Now that Alexander's tagged, they need to shop him around for draft picks and/or players.

No Way Alexander is a work horse... 1 yard shy of the NFL crown! I was so happy when we drafted one of the few college I followed outside of the Huskies... He will be a stud for his whole career...

QB wasnt your problem last year and Bledsoe is anything but an upgrade. Cowboys must have some kind of fetish for worn out AFC garbage. First Eddie George and now Drew Bledsoe, whats going on? Way to hand the eagles the division 6 months before the first regular season game.

You can laugh @ the Cowboys now but we will kick yo as$ next season.

Right, despite having no wideouts (Keyshawn?), an undermanned D-line (especially if you switch to a 3-4), undersized linebackers (Dat Nguyen?), a slow overrated QB (let's see, Bledsoe's been cut twice in the past 4 years, and neither time because of salary issues ...), mediocre special teams, and the most overrated coach of all time (what you done without your boy Belichick, Parcells?) you will all nead to ph34r the Cowboys next year! :lol

Surely you don't see Dallas as the threat to the Eagles for the division?

I agree that QB play was not a problem, but I do think Bledsoe is an upgrade.

Wow, lot's of news today:

Chiefs release DE Vonnie Holliday.

Chargers release Tim Dwight.

Adam Vinatieri is franchised by the Pats.

Surely you don't see Dallas as the threat to the Eagles for the division?

No I dont, I just like giving cowboys fans crap for the horrible decisions they make in the front office.:) The giants have a ton of holes, a bunch of past their prime veterans in key positions and basically a rookie qb. They are going nowhere. The Redskins are the only threat if they do something at qb and fix their offensive line. The other issue is that to me Gibbs doesnt seem very dedicated to football, I dont know if he will adapt his offense. That saftey they have is going to be a dominating force for years if they can keep him from self-destructing. This isnt like a Roy Williams type deal where everyone pretends he is good because he can hit, Taylor can play.

Dammit didn't get to finish my post before my coworker hit submit and then closed the window.

Niners franchise Peterson.

Jags franchise Donovan Darius.

Raiders franchise Charles Woodson, re-sign Jerry Porter.

Plaxico Burress NOT franchised.

Giants release Omar Stoutmire (Good riddance!) and Terry Cousin. (COUSIN COUSIN! :( )

HOLY FUCK. Randy Moss just got traded to Oakland for two draft picks and Napolean Harris.

WOW

just reported on ESPNEWS btw

Agent: Vikings trade Moss to Raiders

By SEAN JENSEN
Pioneer Press

The Vikings have agreed to trade Randy Moss to the Oakland Raiders for starting linebacker Napoleon Harris, the seventh overall pick in the upcoming draft and a 2005 late-round pick . Trades can be worked out although not announced until next month, and Moss' agent, Dante DiTrapano, told the Pioneer Press on Wednesday that the deal is done.

"Nothing is official until March 2," DiTrapano said. "But don’t be surprised if Randy Moss is wearing the Silver and Black this upcoming season."

Vikings vice president of football operations Rob Brzezinski would only say, "We've had some discussions with them (the Raiders), but there is nothing to announce."

Despite repeated denials, the Vikings have been shopping Moss for months, and they found a willing suitor in Al Davis, a maverick owner who embraces controversial players.

"In speaking with Moss, although he has a lot of ties to Minnesota and did not particularly want to be traded, he’s very excited with the possibility of playing for Al Davis and being a part of the Raider tradition," DiTrapano said. "The Raiders have vowed to use Randy’s talents the way they should be used, and that’s to throw the ball vertically down the field.

"Randy’s desire to win a Super Bowl is enhanced with a move to a team like the Raiders, because the Minnesota Vikings seem to be in a constant rebuilding mode."

The Vikings will wind up with the seventh overall pick for the third time in the last four years. In 2002, they drafted left tackle Bryant McKinnie, a starter. Two years ago, they had the seventh pick but a botched trade with Baltimore resulted in them picking two spots later. Still, they landed the player
they coveted, defensive tackle Kevin Williams, who has emerged into a Pro Bowl player.

The Vikings have the 18th pick in this year’s draft.

With the departure of Moss, the Vikings' top receiver is third-year receiver Nate Burleson. But the Vikings are expected to bolster that group via the draft or free agency. With a weak free agent class headlined by Pittsburgh's Plaxico Burress, the Vikings’ options could increase with potential salary cap casualties such as Isaac Bruce, Muhsin Muhammad and Derrick Mason.

The NFL Draft in April also offers two promising players, Michigan's Braylon Edwards and Southern Cal's Mike Williams.

Harris was selected by the Raiders with the 23rd pick in the 2002 NFL Draft, and he has recorded 249 tackles, 2.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and five passes defended over the past three seasons. He is 6-foot-2, 255 pounds, and he can play inside and outside.

The Raiders will assume Moss’ $7.25 million base salary for next season while the Vikings realize a cap savings of nearly $2 million. Four seasons remain on Moss’ eight-year $75 million contract.

Sean Jensen covers the Vikings and the NFL. He can be reached at sjensen@pioneerpress.com.

saw that too, from another forum:

ESPN reporting as a done deal but can't be announced yet. Hopefully the Miami Herald is not involved.

Moss to Oakland for:

- Napoleon Harris
- #7 overall this year
- later #1 pick also included.

Raiders got ripped. Two no.1s (one of which is a top 10) and a good young LB that himself was a first round pick just a couple years ago. Damn. Randy Moss is good, but the Raiders could have just used that 7th pick to get Mike Williams or Braylon Edwards. They might not be as good as Moss, but the Raiders already have a nice young core of recievers.

does this open the door for porter to leave? thats who the eagles should target fist for WRs, then coles, then mason/muhammed.
