PIT @ BAL-I'm not comfortable with this at all. I actually think the Ravens will win, but I HAVE to pick the Steelers.

I don't like making picks, because I usually just end up jinxing the teams I pick. I will say, however, that I think picking a rookie quarterback against the Steelers' defense right now is a huge mistake. I honestly think it could go either way, both defenses are so good. But Ben versus the Ravens defense against Joe versus the Steelers defense... This is going to be the deciding factor. I'd (unofficially) take Ben in that situation. Say what you will about him, about his consistency this year, but he has, consistently, managed to make the big plays when they've mattered the most (like in the fourth quarter of the Dallas game last week). It's going to be a great game, if you like this kind of football.

Be my guest and pick PIT, then. :D

PIT is a December team, but all the same, look at week 4. They barely got it done in OT at home vs this rookie QB.

Our defense has significantly improved each week this season, especially our pass coverage. Our offense on the other hand went from mediocre to comatose over the course of this season.

Trust me, I wish they weren't in our division because I always root for great defenses.

Also, Ben is a beast to bring down. During a game I saw some stat where his QB rating after being hit is like 80+.

HarSon is like French Movie Theme except, since his team is actually good, people take notice.
FMT is just a lighthearted walking hyperbole. He's been here forever and everyone knows his schtick. Bionic is mostly the same way and he has the same team as harSon. harSon is overly sensitive and kinda douchey at times. He also makes ridiculous excuses when they lose and is in everyone's face when they win.

My excuses are within reason, I don't think it's a stretch to say we had a chance of beating the Giants if our long snapper and punter weren't injured. They're definitely excuses but I wouldn't call them ridiculous for the most part. And for the record, I tried to be respectful until Wellington pushed me over!

Not really.

He's a beast to bring down when penetration is within reason, he hasn't been as effective at extending the play this year due to waves of defensemen being allowed in the backfield.

I dunno... you go overboard on some of them and I would call them ridiculous. I have noticed that you've simmered down a bit, though. That's why I said "at times". ;)

Also, Ben is a beast to bring down.
Ben Roethlisberger: 38 sacks, 230 yards lost, 9 fumbles

I don't fully blame Ben, but I don't fully blame the OL (even though they have been complete shit at times). It's partly Ben's fault and the play calling from the sideline is absurd, IMO.

"Why are they doing a 5 step drop for 2 yards?!" "Why are all the routes long?! Where's Moore?!"

PS: MNF or SNF need to bring back AAAAAAAAAAAAG!

I actually think the Ravens have a better offense than the Steelers and even though the Steelers have a better defense, I don't know if it will be that much better to be the difference in this game.

The Steelers offense might actually have to make a play to win this one. Not sure I like hte odds on that one...

I'd be willing to bet the farm that the Giants will be pissed the fuck off next week and ready to dominate again. They hate that Dallas team so much and after such a bad loss - could be the perfect storm.

QUALITY STANDINGS UPDATE
The Giants may have suffered an uncharacteristic performance in their 20-14 loss to the 7-5-1 Eagles Sunday.

But even with the hiccup, the G-Men (11-2 overall) are still easily the best team in the league vs. Quality Opponents, cleary outpacing the Titans, who have a better overall record (12-1).

Tennessee is 4-1 vs. Quality Opponents and has outscored those opponents by a slim 2.4 PPG. New York is 7-1 vs. Quality Opponents (the best mark in the league by a wide margin) and has outscored those eight teams by 10.0 PPG (again, the best mark in the league by a wide margin).

We don't know how our Power Rankings will shake out yet come Tuesday. The Titans will probably be No. 1, because it's hard to justify a team that just lost and looked poor doing so to keep its top spot. But all things being equal, the smart money right now would be on the Giants to beat the Titans in a head-to-head battle, like maybe the Super Bowl or something.

Meanwhile, on the heels of Carolina's win over Tampa Monday night, the Panthers and Bucs are tied with five Quality Wins each. Only the Giants have more.

It's definitely a combination of horrid pass blocking, bad play calling, and Ben holding onto the ball for absurd amounts of time. Our pass blocking has actually improved a bit over the last few weeks, I'd personally put a lot more of the blame on Roethlisberger's shoulders as of late. For example, a good 2-3 of the Cowboys sacks were purely the result of Roethisberger not knowing when to call it quits and throw it away.

I'd say we're the more capable offense but they're definitely a lot more consistent. It's all about consistency though and our offensive is putrid shit more times then not...

Its funny how the number of Cowboy fans has diminished lately.

Three cheers for December! :lol

You take the good and the bad with Big Ben. Sometimes when he holds onto the ball he gets sacked, and other times he will make a 'holy shit' type play that can often win the game.

And the Ravens have the better offense period. They have a good offensive line. We have better receivers an a better qb, but none of that shit matters if you can't block up front.

And yeah the Steelers oline has been playing MUCH better of late. They are almost mediocre which is a lot better than what they were doing in the first half of the season.

Because some people quote? I dunno, I just did, leave me alone!

Dallas could lose this week and potentially still get a wild card, but they don't deserve it if they can't rebound from the Steelers game and beat the Giants. All year, the Cowboys have just shown that they cannot win the games that matter consistently. This is when they need to show some resiliance and win at home. Close Texas Stadium on a high note.

Awesome.

Remember in the preseason thread when I said that the NFC South was the best division in football? DY_damus

I'f love to talk about how fucking pumped I am about the Panther's success this season, but i've been mum most of the season and the Panthers have been winning, and i'm too superstitous to start going in-depth now.

Also, I loath Playoff Posters. So i'll avoid becoming one.

isn't the nfc east like 3-0 vs the nfc south?

True...all those games were home games for the NFC East team though.

I have a feeling the Giants are going to play badly and the Cowboys are going to beat a hurting and distracted Giants team and the national media is going to overreact and declare Dallas to be "for real" and a "championship contender".

i dont know. of the two i see the giants as a more complete "team" where as the cowboys are more of a collection of allstars.

either team could win but after a bad loss, something to prove, and plus the #1 seed possibly in the balance i see the giants coming out victorious.

I liken it to the shitty dream team from a few years ago (Cowboys) that lost to a plucky Argentina team (Giants). Perfect analogy!

except with the exception of RW11,TO, Hamlin pretty much our entire team was either drafted or unwanted (leonard davis playing out of position in arizona, mark columbo sucking ass in chicago, pacman, tank)

it's not our fault we drafted well and developed players

Yes, look at week 4. Lost three players, two of them for the year, down 10 and outscored the Ravens 20-7 in the 2nd half/OT. Flacco completed 51% for a $1.92 at 6.2 yards per attempt with 1 TD and was sacked 5 times giving up a fumble for a TD. Not to mention, this years Steelers team has a better road record than home and has had its most decisive victories on the road, save for week 1 against Houston. Not predicting a win by any stretch as it's going to be a hard hitting, trash talking, pain train of a game. Games between these two always are. But don't sleep on the Steelers just cause this is in Baltimore. By the way, yeah, they've lost 5 in a row in Baltimore. However, Big Ben was the starter for just 1 of those and only 1 of the matchups had any significant meaning for both teams late in a season.

Ya he needs to work on that in the offseason, it good that holds out and makes plays but seriously sometimes a play is just fucked and you got to give up and fight another play instead of losing a bunch of yards on a sack

Yes, look at week 4...

:lol There are plenty of reasons for the outcome...so what? All I wanted to say was that it took an OT win for PIT to beat a QB with 3 games under his belt at home, but as long as you're spewing stats, Big Ben threw for 191 in that game...doesn't matter, he still got the W.

I know a lot of the Steelers wins weren't pretty this season and what makes them elite is that they have the ability to pull it out in the end. That said, I think if Flacco takes care of the ball this time, Ravens win.
