I love the level of thought you put into your post for your picks J2, but one thing surprised me. You have GB beating TB, a pick that is perhaps against the grain, but in all of that analysis you provide, you don't discuss that particular pick. I would have figured that a pick like that would have gotten a quick mention in your write up.

Yeah, it is. I dunno, bit of a gut feeling but more so Brett Favre's ability to put points on any team. I think Tampa Bay has a solid D and they're getting a very good running game going. I've always like Griese pretty well too but I'm wondering if TB fell behind, how Griese would react to a shootout. And just as well how many points the Bucs could put up. Minus Cadillac's late TD on the Vikings, they've scored 17 and 19. They're a far better built team than Green Bay but it's gonna be tough to put the Pack down 0-3 and Favre's gonna fire at some point. It feels like inevitably something's gonna have to break. Or maybe I just can't imagine the Bears having the Lions as their biggest competition in the North. It's too good. Probably a slight mixture. But yeah, it was just late and I didn't have time to address a pick I knew was against the grain.

J2 are you in either Yahoo Pick Em league?

No. Don't know why not. I'd join. Did the picks for the first 2 weeks. 7-9 week 1, 10-6 week 2.

Sounded like he loves the Patriots. Poor bionic.

There's no pleasing you people! He's either too cocky or too in love with his opponents!

Anyway, nobody in their right mind who knows anything about football has any reason to not admire the Patriots and what they've done. You could hate them all you want(I'm not too fond of them beating the Steelers in the championship game for two of their three titles), but you have to at least respect them.

As far as the Steelers being picked, a lot of people picked them to beat the Patriots last year and that worried me, but once they crushed them I was okay with everybody picking Pittsburgh over Philly.

Holy shit, everyone here is picking Pittsburgh to win.

For some reason that makes me extremely nervous.

Don't worry bionic I won't be picking Pittsburgh. ;)

"You can say I guaranteed it, yes,'' Peterson said Monday, hardly traumatized by San Francisco's 42-3 loss in Philadelphia. "I think we're going to play well. I'm positive we're going to win, to be honest. ... We're going to go out there to win, or they're coming out here to lose.''

i posted this awesome quote in the wrong thread!

goin down on sunday cowpies!

Any real Steelers fan or decent human being has one big reason to hate the Patriots.

Hey now, that's just inappropriate.

And I said you can hate them! Hate away! They've still been the best team in the NFL, by far, for the past two years.

Prisco's Power Rankings (aka the fuck?): http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/8869777

So let me get this straight...the Panthers play badly and lose by 3 to the Saints and fall from 4 to 10. Then they play sloppy but beat the Patriots by 10. This equals...a 3 spot drop? WTF? And also behind a Saints team that just got blown out by the Giants?

I'm confused.

Just for that, I think we should score an extra TD on the Chargers. We'll avenge you Bowser!

NFL in Iran Update: Middle East TV, which beams NFL games to Iran, showed Patriots at Panthers followed by Dolphins at Jets. In Washington, D.C., where TMQ lurks, Patriots versus Panthers -- headliner game of the afternoon -- was not aired. Instead, viewers saw the middling Baltimore at Tennessee pairing. So once again, programmers offered Iran a better NFL game than they showed to our nation's capital. As yours truly endlessly complains, the NFL spares no expense to stage fantastic games, then often makes it impossible for audiences to see the fantastic games. Tuesday Morning Quarterback will resume tracking the NFL in Iran.

Fuck the NFL.

You can't argue with that. In the whole Maryland/DC area, they've got to show the Ravens and Redskins games. You'd have far more people complaining if they didn't than when they do in place of better matchups.

The problem with NFL/local affiliates is when they air games that feature rivals of the local teams. I know, as a Steelers fan, I'd much prefer watching Green Bay and Cleveland in the battle to decide the draft order tiebreaker than Denver-San Diego, a game between two teams that have actual talent to field. And when Denver-San Diego goes down to the last play, I just love that they don't switch over.

Tice joins the Culpepper critics
September 20
Minneapolis Star Tribune columnist Patrick Reusse (registration required): "The locals reacting to Sunday's 37-8 embarrassment in Cincinnati seemed equally divided Monday on these potential solutions: A) Fire Tice. B) Send a package of Culpepper, Kevin Williams, Bryant McKinnie and a couple of first-rounders to Miami to regain the all-time great, Gus Frerotte, to trigger this dormant Purple Machine."

This blurb pretty much sums up sports talk radio in Minneapolis. Fucking rubes.

Sunday, Sep. 25
Atlanta at Buffalo, 1:00 p.m.- The fact that I can't pick against the Bills might kill me this year. I do think they will win this one though. The thing about young quarterbacks- they always play better at home.
Carolina at Miami, 1:00 p.m.
Cincinnati at Chicago, 1:00 p.m.
Cleveland at Indianapolis, 1:00 p.m.- Indy's schedule is freakin easy the next few weeks. If you play the NFC west, it's like a free ticket to the playoffs. :D
Jacksonville at N.Y. Jets, 1:00 p.m.- All the obscene gestures in the world can't save Leftwich here.
New Orleans at Minnesota, 1:00 p.m.- I'm not gonna pick Minnesota until they stop playing horribly.
Oakland at Philadelphia, 1:00 p.m.- Oakland's schedule on the other hand, is tough.
Tampa Bay at Green Bay, 1:00 p.m.
Tennessee at St. Louis, 1:00 p.m.
Arizona at Seattle, 4:05 p.m.
Dallas at San Francisco, 4:05 p.m.
New England at Pittsburgh, 4:15 p.m.- Pittsburgh is playing really good right now.
N.Y. Giants at San Diego, 8:30 p.m.

Monday, Sep. 26
Kansas City at Denver, 9:00 p.m.

Jordaphiles are into all kinds of weird perverted stuff.

I imagine some of them even have Tom Brady posters in their bedrooms...

*looks in DM's direction accusingly*

Koren Robinson, clearly a Mike Tice kind of guy, was cut by the Vikings before actually reporting to the team(at least, as far as I know he never practiced with them).

Unless this just happened this morning, you're talking about a roster shuffle before the season. They cut him before game 1 and resigned him afterwards to avoid guarrenteeing his contract for 2005.

Do you have a link to him being released today? Not that I dont' believe you, it's just that I'm not seeing any news.

from 49ers.com

1st: In 1994, the 49ers lost to the Philadelphia Eagles at home 40-8. They went on to win the Super Bowl.

And Ten….

WORST TO FIRST: In the past six NFL seasons (1999-2004), nine different teams have gone from last place to first place in their division. The 49ers, who were 2-14 and last in the NFC West, would match the accomplishment of the 1999 Indianapolis Colts and St. Louis Rams, 2000 New Orleans Saints, 2001 Chicago Bears and New England Patriots, 2003 Carolina Panthers and Kansas City Chiefs and the 2004 Atlanta Falcons and San Diego Chargers. In the five years before the 1999 season (1994-98), only one team, the 1997 New York Giants, managed the worst-to-first turnaround.

Hope=Still Alive.

Don't have a link, but it was on the sprawl on both ESPN News and Cold Pizza this morning.

From the ESPN Wednesday roundup

The Texans' shakeup didn't stop with the firing of offensive coordinator Chris Palmer.

Cornerback Phillip Buchanon and outside linebacker Jason Babin have been removed from the starting lineup, the Houston Chronicle reported, and will be replaced by DeMarcus Faggins and Shantee Orr.

"This should be an attention-getter that lets everyone know that we're going to put the lineup on the field that we believe will do the job that needs to be done," coach Dom Capers told the newspaper.

"This business is all about accountability," Capers told the Chronicle. "If you're going to talk about accountability, you can't talk out of both sides of your mouth. We'll hold people accountable, whether it's the quarterbacks, receivers or linebackers."

Er....how about shaking up the O-line a bit? I think that's your major problem

So if Culpepper keeps up this pace how long before we can declare the Culpepper vs Mcnabb debate over.

You just don't want a black quarterback to succeed in the NFL.

Well fellow Lions fans, they worked out Jeff George today. That, in itself, is the proverbial death knell for this season

Not just Jeff George, but Jeff George and Shaun King.

You think the Redskins would go for a Ramsey-Harrington trade, straight up?
