Hell yea Marco!

I suppose I'm a homer, but I've never really understood why you wouldn't naturally be a fan of your hometown teams. Every franchise goes through cycles of good and bad eras, so not following a team (or giving up on one) just because they're not competitive seems fickle to me. Plus, so much of being a sports fan is about pride — I love where I'm from and I love supporting the local teams. But I guess maybe it's just different for people who didn't grow up in a major sports city/region; it's pretty easy to appreciate Boston teams.

I don't have any less respect for people who choose to follow non-local teams for personal reasons, though. It's just the people who "switch" teams that I'll never understand.

havent been able to watch the game. has luongo actually been outplaying brodeur or have the canucks just been getting better chances?

either way, i wonder if mooshi stil doesn't know, just doesn't know or if a momentary lapse of optimism is due

Luongo has played very well. Two of the Canucks goals came on poor changes by the Devils, so I'm not sure how much you can say Brodeur is to blame for the loss. The Devils had ample chance to score on the 5 on 3, Parise had a really good opportunity in the second period, and I'd say that the Devils controlled the Canucks for most of the second, but Luongo shut the door.

Well there's two ways to look at this. He can be "ok" and not be able to play hockey again. I mean he's not dead if that's what you're saying.

good. team 1040 was talking about the two going head to head tonight and while i think one game shouldnt be seen as more important than any other, i'll agree that it draws a little more attention from team canada architects. luongo has an uphill battle still, i think, if he wants the #1 job, but it'd be great if he got it and i think he'd do a terrific job

There is no need to step up any game. Alucard's story is so full of holes. If he played three hours of ball hockey every day, how the fuck could he not be into hockey? Why the fuck would it take a pedo neighbour to get you into Mario and the Pens when surely he must have been following a neighbouring team like I don't know...the Leafs?!

Reading comprehension for the total loss. I didn't care about pro sports of any kind until my family moved in March 1991 to a new neighbourhood and I went to a school where kids cared about hockey. I quickly became friends with the neighbourhood kids, who were also into hockey, and started to get interested in it and joined in the road hockey action as well. My next door neighbour was the major organizer of the after school road hockey action, because he had a net and foam goalie pads, and he was the one who really got me interested in the Penguins and hockey in general.

I like you and Manics in small doses, but damn...you're being more annoying than a bunch of Pens Cup pics are to the rest of this board.

EDIT: Thanks to the Canucks for defeating New Jersey tonight! The Pens winning the Atlantic is going to be crucial in the playoffs this season. We need home ice...

am i the only one who thinks forza and manics might be the same person? thatd be fantastic
I'm about 90% sure that they are.

Alucard you don't have to justify yourself over the internet.

He/she would have to be a pretty sad individual. I've considered it, but I think their personalities are different enough that they're separate people.

the reason why i'd ever think so is because you two seem to be foils to one another. forza is the reasonable voice while manics is a caricature of some misconceived creation.

plus, i still tie 'forzaitalia' back to greekboy and some other alias (or two) that was uncovered, accurately or not. so i sort of expect you to have a variety of personalities

Fuck I think I'm starting to become convinced now too. Maybe I am Forza? Tyler Durden thing going on?!

Edit: I'm going to sleep. The Forza persona tends to stay up later so I'm not sure if he's gonna post more or not.

It would be epic if Forza and Manics didn't realize that they were the same person. Multiple personalities and all that.

once you start having conversations with your mirror, you'll know

Manics wakes up wearing a Canes jersey and looks around the room in total confusion. His mind is reeling, wondering what went on the night before. He sees the warm glow of his computer monitor turned to GAF. "I'm...Forza? No! That's not true! That's impossible! Nooooooo!" The Forza alter ego takes over Forzics' psyche and spits out, "Search your feelings and you know it be true!" Manics returns with worried, feral eyes, scratching at the Canes logo on his chest. "But...but...HOW? I hate Rod Brind'amour! Wait...if I'm Forza then..." Manics runs to his closet, opening the door in desperation and scrambling through his clothes until he sees a Caps jersey. "NOOOOOOOO!"

Looks like the Pens are shopping Fedotenko around.

Not sure how I feel about that. Where are you getting this? They're likely looking to dump some salary and maybe shore up another draft pick or two.

=(

Tough loss but man is Duchene starting to take off. Don't look now but he he's had like 5 pts in his last 2 games.

He is out indefinitely. He needs to undergo surgery again.

Maybe Burke can try and get Valiquette off waivers from the Rangers to fill in the hole the Leafs find themselves in right now?

Oh, and Blackhawks have a press conference tomorrow afternoon to announce long-term contract signings for Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, and Duncan Keith.

I want to know how they pulled it off.

No problem, flip-flopper. Jonathan Quick just took down all your photoshops from the Kings' dressing room, though.

Stephen Weiss with the hat trick against the Avs.
This was a great game, Avs scored twice in the final minute to tie it up then it went to shootout. I'd definitely recommend watching the highlights

FWIW, I'm still watching the Oilers. I just don't have much to say about it.

Same here. What is there to talk about aside from the injuries? Ryan Stone may be back tonight. I guess that's news.

Well...as a NW division rival I can't commiserate publicly with you, but Edmonton has had a run of bad luck with injuries and drafting midgets. There, that's the nicest thing I've said about the Oilers in a long time.

What's the big mystery? They don't have to clear cap room until after the season if they don't want to, and they don't have to clear a ton. There's a few guys that are overpaid, replaceable, and will draw a lot of interest when the time comes.

Still not going to believe in the extensions until after the conference.
Conference is on now. It's official. :D

So, Jiri Tlusty and his dong just got traded to Carolina for Philippe Paradis.

aidan said:
Paradis was Carolina's first round pick in 2009. It's a straight-up deal, Tlusty for Paradis.

Oh shit, you're right, I mis-read it. I thought the Leafs got a prospect and a 1st round pick. My bad.
