Yes, it's already time for the NHL off-season if you follow teams like the Leafs, the Habs or the Oilers (or any of those non-playoff American teams). This thread may be small at first, but will be populated with more and more disgruntled fans as the teams get eliminated from the playoffs.

Who will be drafted #1? Which coach / GM will get fired first? Will your beloved team make some serious off-season moves to get into the playoff thread next season?

Being a non-playoff team fan sucks.

:lol :lol :lol

I'll probably be joining shortley considering Ottawa's performance against Pittsburgh. If you can't score against MAF, then you deserve to be ousted.

I'm more interested in seeing who's part of team Canada for the Men's Championship. Kudos to the ladies! They're hot and can play hockey. :D

How incredibly ****ing annoying is it that the Oilers win their last ****ing game.. which gets booted out of the top 5 in the draft... and then CHICAGO GETS THE FIRST PICK WITH WHAT SHOULD BE OUR #5!!

>=(

stupid oilers

the 2 games they win on this bazillion game slide are against COLORADO and the last game which ruins our draft pick

stupid mother****ers...

Good, good, this is the anger and frustration that I was hoping for in this thread. It's all about the therapy people, don't worry we'll be joined by Sens fans soon enough.

I want a GM who can actually express his thoughts in interviews. I don't want to be listening to generic short written-beforehand answers that JFJ seems to be always using.

Pretty much no doubt that Kane will be drafted first.

Gainey did some good moves years ago. He has honestly made no good move this year. I thought Samsonov was a good move, turned out awful. Why did we get Leighton? We traded a nice 2nd line center for a sucky 7th defensemen, because of his attitude. Rivet trade wasn't so bad, but SJ's 1st round pick will be useless and Gorges is as useless. The contracts he gave to Koivu and Kovalev are awful, and makes them near-untradeable.

It's time for Gainey to go; Carbonneau did a lot of mistakes, but it was his first year in coaching and its not like the team always gave its 100% each game.

I want JFJ out, and I hate the Leafs! :lol Its painful to watch him in action

"I plan to be here for a long time and will operate in that fashion," Ferguson said Tuesday afternoon in answer to speculation his bosses at Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment might fire him after the Maple Leafs missed the NHL playoffs by one point for the second consecutive year.

Ferguson said he met with Sundin's agent, J.P. Barry, on Monday and he had a long chat with the Leafs captain on Tuesday.

Koivu isn't the problem; he's part of the solution.

I don't care much for the Habs' current core, except for him, Ryder, Higgins, Plekanec, Markov and Komisarek.

Ironically, all young players that were drafted by Savard AFAIK.

I think next year is the final test for Gainey (and Carbonneau, since if Gainey goes, Carbo goes). It's all going to depend on the moves he does, the signings he makes and the ones he doesn't, and who makes the team next september.

Can't wait till July 1st.

Dammit our draft position sucks

I want Turris.. or Cherepanov..

FOILED AGAIN

****

Maybe Cherepanov will drop.. cause he's russian and all..

The last couple of draft years were good for the Habs. If you take a look at the last maybe, say, five years, there's a good number of players who made it to the NHL. No superstars yet, but it might be a little early to call it. If you compare with the dismal years with Rejean Houle, where almost no one made the NHL... At least there's something worth being happy about, I guess..

Now stop signing useless free agents.

Kings will be in the playoffs next season.

Really, the only thing I'm excited for is the opening games in London; I think that will be really neat to see the European NHL fans in that gorgeous new building.

They're doing the European games thing again? Man when will the NHL give up on this worthless gimmick. I remember the Leafs opened up in England way back when or maybe it was just exhibition games, I can't remember.

its too bad how my oilers season ended up...but i am really looking forward to the draft and whatever happens after July 1st.

I'm hoping players like Schremp, Nilsson and grebshekov can find a spot on the team for a full 82 games.

hopefully we can get back to the stanley cup finals.

Yeah...If I were at his place, I would be thinking the same thing. Not saying it out loud.

If I were in his place, I would be more concerned with puuting pucks past Luongo and not taking potshots at a team cruising the fairways.

Can someone tell me what my avatar status means? "The greys control everything we do!" I have no idea who changed it or what it means.

Late, late news update for our friends in Columbus (any Blue Jackets fans around?):

Maclean Fired

Oddly enough Doug MacLean probably did the best job with an expansion franchise business-wise. Excluding the Wild of course, but that wasn't the same situation of entering a new market.

First I've seen of this thread... :lol
I'm a Bolts fan... hate to see them lose, but they did better than I thought they would considering our weak goaltending.

Hope to see New Jersey, Anaheim, San Jose, or Buffalo win it at this point.

Welcome, brother.

Watch you don't sit at the many 'RESERVED' tables. We're expecting and influx of fans from... out west in a scant week or so.

So, Roberts will likely be back next season, and there's a good chance Recchi will be as well.

I just listened to Shero and Therrien's press conference of a few days ago, and it sounds like the core of the team will be kept. Shero also knows that certain areas need to addressed, which I'm hoping means a one-way ticket out for Scuderi and/or Melichar.

I like most of our D...

Gonchar - Not always the best man in his own end, but his PP presence is awesome and he's a smooth skater and carries the puck out well.
Eaton - Had a crappy end of the year after he came from injury, but was awesome at the start of the season. Really hoping he regains his form.
Whitney - Umm, what the heck? Looks like he's also developed some defensive skills to match his offensive abilities this year.
Orpik - No one talked about him this year, which means he's doing his job. Could be a little more physical, but he's developing nicely.
Melichar - Too average, too ineffective. I like the guy as a person from what I've seen, but as a player I don't think he mixes well with this team.
Scuderi - Seems like a nice guy but again...too many mistakes this year to warrant another year.

Up front, Ouellet needs to have more of a presence on the ice, and I think we need to choose between Ruutu, Laraque, Petrovicky, and Thorburn on the fourth line. I would likely keep Laraque and Petro since they've got some jump and decent hands, to add to their pest status. Not sure where Ekman fits with this team anymore either...he was good at points in the season. Damn, we really need some right-handed shots on this team too.

Anyway, IN SHERO WE TRUST.
