Some teams should just go and send some offers to Gagné and Jonsson from the Flyers, then Clark would have to match and get himself in cap hell to be able to retain them. It would be hilarious, pay him a little lesson :lol

Flyers have traded veteran centre Jeremy Roenick and a third round pick in 2006 to the Los Angeles Kings for future considerations

Now thats a dump. They even had to throw in a decent pick. Man.. wtf. why did it cost the Oilers so much to get Pronger?? BAH =\ Maybe cause he hadnt signed a deal yet...

so if the Blues got something, then shouldn't the Flyers and Avalanche?

both of those teams got screwed for losing a couple of their star players. The Avs should have signed Foppa, and then at least traded him to Philly for a draft pick...

That Zhamnov salary is crazy...

Damn, its going to be a long 2 months before the season starts now...

Can somebody stop sending Selanne to montreal. We're done with UFA's....

except for a back up goalie.

And Selanne for the past few years has sucked ass...

Just go play for Toronto ...

They'll take you with open arms.

Yes...we'll take anyone! Got in the head too much? That's OK! Don't like playing D? Fine by us!

Ouch, just looked at the Leaf's lineup on tsn. Talk about screwed as of now. 23 millions in 8 players ie. Sundin, Belfour, McCabe, Kaberle, Klee, Tucker, O'Neill and Stajan.. ouch.

Shit, most of these players I wouldn't even want on the Habs.

Well I'm happy the Sabres finally signed someone. Numminen is a pretty old guy, but looking at his stats, they compare favorably to Zhitnik. Numminen was -5 last year, that that's the only year in the last 7 that he was in the minus range...and he was +13 with 13 goals and 48 pts in 2001-2002. If he can recreate those numbers, this will be a great signing. Zhitnik has been in the minus each of the last 6 years, with a high of 37 pts.

Mats Sundin $6.84 million
Ed Belfour $4.56 million
Bryan McCabe $3.458 million
Tomas Kaberle $2.28 million
Ken Klee $1.9 million
Darcy Tucker $1.596 million
Jeff O'Neill $1.5 million
Matt Stajan $805,600

So that's 23 millions into 8 players, not counting Nolan obviously, since they gonna fight this one.

Then they have these as UFAs:

Nik Antropov
Wade Belak
Aki Berg
Pierre Hedin
Nathan Perrott
Karel Pilar
Clarke Wilm

And these as UFAs:

Tie Domi
Brian Leetch (Gone)
Alexander Mogilny
Joe Nieuwendyk (Gone)
Gary Roberts (Gone)
Drake Berehowsky
Ron Francis
Bryan Marchment
Trevor Kidd
Nathan Barrett
Harold Druken
Regan Kelly

Man, poor leafs, the tide indeed turned didn't it...

not many leaf fans will admit it, but this is a blessing in disguise. its time to build a "TEAM" rather than trying to piece shit together at the trading deadline every year!

Oh so fuckin true.

It'll take time, maybe later on they'll finally get a stanley cup.

The only one's who could buy a stanley cup were those who had already a strong nexus of players.

We both got as far in the playoffs, and you had 4 wins more than we had last year, with TENS OF MILLIONS spent more than we spent.

Your team sucks!

If our team sucks but we're ahead of yours, what does that make your team?

Manics said:
Yes, that's why with these players the Leafs manage to finish ahead of the Habs year after year.
While the Habs got Alex Perezhogin, Andrei Kostitsyn, Chris Higgins, Yann Danis, Kyle Chipchura, Tomas Plekanec, Mikhail Grabovsky, Marcel Hossa and Ron Hainsey.

I'm gonna enjoy our future seasons, don't worry about us finishing after the leafs the past few seasons because it sure won't happen in a few seasons.

Yes I hear so much about the vaulted Hab prospects year after year. Ribeiro is the next Lafleur, Hainsey is the next Robinson blah blah blah. Until they start proving it in the NHL they're still just prospects.

last time i checked we at least went 6 games in the 2nd round instead of folding like pussies and losing in 4

And Crosby, Malkin and Ovechkin as still prospects as well, your point? I'd rather have good prospects than barely none like your team.

And yeah, Ribeiro is doing so badly, I mean come on, 65 points in 81 games last season, god that blows :lol :lol

That's fine, I'd rather finish ahead of you in the standings then have your great crop of prospects every year. Hab fans are suddenly excited cause the Habs made the playoffs twice in the last six years. Leafs have only missed the playoffs twice in the last 12 years. So recent history shows that prospects aren't all that they're cracked up to be.

We had an incredibly bad direction for years. We changed it. Our players are fast, young, and talented. Your players are... well... expensive.

it doesn't matter if they're the stanley cup champions or not.

It doesn't make them gods, they're a still a hockey team.

and oleg tverdosky signs with hurricanes

But the Leafs were buying every UFAs at the end of every season to put up a team together, that my friend, is no longer possible. Have a fun next 5 years with your old shitty team while you won't be able to sign any new players.

Yet we'll still finish ahead of you this year. :lol

I guess we'll see won't we? I believe you missed the entire new CBA as UFA are now more prevalent then before. At the end of every season there will be big name free agents available long before they reach 31 years old now. Sure this year the Leafs are a bit strapped with their salary structure, but all the big contracts are over this season (except Sundin) so they'll have plenty of cap room to continue to add players they originally missed in the draft.

It should be fun.

We will have Kovalev, Bonk and Perezhogin for the whole season now. If the leafs think they can finish ahead of us they're in for a surprise especially since they only finished 10 pts ahead of us last season.

Isn't this fuckin great? Leaf fans and Hab fans fighting it out on message boards again!! This is what we missed over the last year.

FJ and Malakov, I know we have different allegiences but I respect your committment to the Habs, it's been lean years for you guys. I've been a Leaf fan since the 70s so I had to live through the Ballard era (talk about a dry spell) while you cunts kept on winning the Cup.

I look forward to many heated trash talking days with you guys :) It's all in good fun anyway.

Go Leafs Go!

Toronto radio is reporting that we're going after Zetterberg (RFA)

Yes, Bill Watters started hitting the sauce early this morning and he imagined he got some real news from Sweden saying Zetterberg will come here for Antropov. :lol I love Toronto radio and their crappy bogus rumors!

Man.. when do prospects camps, training camps, and preseason games start??
