calder said:Oh man, it is painful to watch Dopey get himself all worked up about pie in the sky deals for the Leafs. :lol Going to be a looong winter for Leaf fans I think - unless some miraculous signings or amazing trades come through (trades where the other team basically gives JFJ everything while asking for nothing but overpaid players in return) your team is just not going to be very good.
If it's any consolation though, the Sens still have 57 year old Hasek in net. :lol Except for the Flyers, every pre season team in the East has serious roster holes to work out... who are the Bolts going to get to replace Khabby? Can the Devils survive losing Stevens and Niedermayer? And even the Flyers aren't a sure bet, they have great players with injury histories and they loaded up on big, strong dmen that may or may match up well against other clubs depending on how the new rules change the game.

Prusek is a good backup goalie, but there's no doubt Emery is the Sens #1 of the future - he's had two excellent years in the AHL and he's still only 22. I bet the Sens want Hasek to have one more solid year left (I doubt it, but I've never exactly been a Hasek fan so my opinion may be cloudedKilledByBill said:who does Ottawa have in place as their back-up goalie? After Hasek's injury plagued "return" in 03-04, it seems like Ottawa's managment is taking a double the gamble by letting Prusek walk.

Fight for Freeform on July 21st said:Oates rules! As far as I know he didn't do much in Edmonton as far as points go, but didn't he help improve their faceoffs? Because for the last 2 years, it seemed as if Edmonton couldn't even win 1/3 of faceoffs in a game :lol
Anyways, mark me down as a Detroit, Pheonix, Edmonton and Pittsburgh fanboy. I think they have a combined total of 8 balls, so there is a decent chance one of them will get Crosby.![]()
Domi flays Leaf foes
Tie Domi wants the media to go easy on the Maple Leafs.
He just doesn't appear to be ready to go easy on the media.
Shortly after using a press conference announcing his re-signing with the Leafs as a forum to implore the Toronto media to start "talking more hockey for a change, instead of knocking who we're talking to, or who we want to sign," Domi walked out on a live radio interview.
The Leafs tough guy was an in-studio guest on the Leafs Lunch program on 640 Toronto and was upset by comments made earlier in the day by former Leafs assistant GM Bill Watters who usually co-hosts the show with Jeff Marek but was not present for Domi.
"I've got to tell you Jeff, your other host Bill Watters was on John Oakley this morning and was quite disrupting to me and my family," Domi said.
Asked how Watters had offended him, Domi said that "he said that we've manipulated the Leafs again for the second time."
According to 640 Toronto, Watters had said that Domi's agent, Pat Morris, should be commended for getting such a deal for Domi.
"My wife was very taken (aback) by that and so was I," said Domi.
Marek asked him why.
"You've got a guy like Bill (Watters) ... (He's) been knocking me since he left this team. I don't know why. I just felt enough is enough, I'm sick of listening to that guy."
When Marek attempted to ask another question, Domi interrupted him.
"Jeff, I don't know you. I've never seen you before. I've never been on your show before, and there's a reason for it," Domi said. "Because you guys have your opinions and sometimes they're strong, and they're wrong. And I'm telling you my opinion and that's the way I stand.
"I've been here a long time and I don't need guys throwing stones at me and other people telling me what you guys are saying." [wtf? and, :lol]
He then thanked co-host Dennis Beyak, who was filling in for Watters, took off his headphones and left the studio.
"Tie Domi has now left," Marek said.
Earlier in the day, Domi was beseeching the media to join a "partnership" that the new collective bargaining agreement has created between the players and the National Hockey League.
"Cut to the chase," Domi told journalists. "We need your guys' help, too, and the more you knock our team, the less it's helping us."
He was reacting to criticism of GM John Ferguson after Gary Roberts, Joe Nieuwendyk and Brian Leetch signed with other teams and the Leafs lost out on signing top-tier free agents like Scott Niedermayer, Peter Forsberg and Markus Naslund.
"I just hope that whatever John does, we'll be behind it," he said. "Let's not try and get so negative on the guys we're trying to bring here. Because we want to win and if those guys do come here we need a positive start."

Mario Lemieux
Evgeni Malkin
Sydney Crosby
Sergei Gonchar
Zigmund Palffy
....dang. Thank God they had little to begin with or I might be afraid!
:lol
Are you a joke character? You actually thought the wings were looking to get rid of their 2 best young players? Dream on. One if they absolutely have to, but not both.DopeyFish said:just did some more research
zetterberg is apparently asking for 2.5 million and datsyuk is asking for 4.5 million
so basically there's no way the leafs would be able to bag both

Yes, but more teams in the playoffs and more playoff games means more $$$$$$ and bling and fur coats for their hoes.ForzaItalia said:I don't like the idea of 20 teams making the playoffs. It cheapens the sense of accomplishment in actually making the playoffs.

Dude....this city (especially the media) has been waiting for THE BIG E for years now....If he's officially signed, there will be flares above lake ontario and a giant E-signal will light up the night sky.
